In general I'm very satisfied with the items that I've purchased. I found that the descriptions on clothing are subjective (obviously) but not always accurate. The last item had a large hole in the seam that was not specified. Since it was a final sale, I was stuck with it. I wouldn't have paid that price for a damaged item. Overall I've had good luck, just not this time. I'll still purchase from the real real but I'll be more selective.
The process to consign was simple and professional. I consigned 22 pieces - all Gucci and new - yet there are still 2 pieces that have not been photographed, now 2 months have passed and also with White Glove Service. The items in question are - GUC******* and GUC*******. This has me a little frustrated as my pieces are selling quickly and these 2 Gucci Pillows would likely sell quickly. I have reported this to Consignment Relations already.
As a seller and a buyer I have been very pleased with the RealReal. I love browsing for deals that fashion wise speak to me. The platform is very workable and agile and I think other retailers could benefit by taking a closer look at it.
Constant deals, and a wide selection! I am grateful~!
The only gripe I have, though, is with some of the photo choices(and a bit of the redundant copy, but if that brings more folks to the site through search engines, then it has to be fine, right? Haha).
Being able to see the inside of a bag is nice, but closeups of the labels and stitching, specifically, would also make me feel more secure with a big dollar purchase.
All of my purchases from the Real Real arrived in a timely manner. The quality and condition of every piece was as stated.
When I had to return items that ran a bit small because of European sizing, the process was efficient.
I have recommended many friends, family and colleagues to TRR and will continue to do so.
I have several items that are in excellent or pristine level that have been priced too low, compared to others on a site. Inconstancy in who is pricing the items. Also, they return done items based on taste not what sells - one of my items was returned to me as it said that the brand is not accepted; identical item sold in few days...
I contacted RealReal and had an appointment for my friend and I to sell our items. We received checks and could see our items on the site. We are both happy we work with RealReal.
I have always had wonderful experiences with this company. They provide wonderful customer service and have great deals on quality items.
Always helpful, timely responses and promised results frame each interaction with the real real and the consigner relations department.
Usually excellent representation of what is received and in the rare occasion if it's not, realreal customer service has made it right.
Super responsive with shipping labels and customer service. However, it would be better if they did not charge for return shipping.
Every single time I have purchased with The Real Real (which has been a lot) I have been surprised at how great each item is.
They didn't send my shoes the I ordered and haven't gotten any refund. Their commercials/adds suck too. Pathetic company! Stay away!
This bag thankfully is real! I was worried because pics did not show verifying info to authenticate bag. I ordered anyway since pics that were posted looked very authentic. Bag arrived today and I am so relieved to see that it is real and in practically new condition. Very happy. Next time I will definitely ask for verifying pics if needed.
I purchased a Louis Vuitton bad that cost over $700 dollars which came ripped inside with no disclosure of the damage. They only offered a $60 credit to use on there site which is never gonna happen. I'm highly
On two different occasions I've ordered Chanel bags from The Real Real. And I have worked at a high-end retail store for years; I know how to package and ship any, but especially expensive, items. Both times I requested on the order itself to package the handbag with the chain straps/handle to be placed INSide the bag with cushion around it. Both times they ignored my request, but they also SHOULD know with ANY merchandise to not lay a bag on top of its straps (and without cushion around the straps) you wouldn't do this at home so you shouldn't be in the habit at work. Now both these Chanel bags have indentations, indentations that were not there on the photos and what's more, they're on the FRONT side of the bags! I couldn't believe their mishandling and their not caring.
When I spoke with a staff member after ordering the first time, she said, oh just give it back then.' I don't Want to return it. You messed up.
I saved up for and wanted that specific hard-to-find item that they ignorantly let get a "smile" line across its front. No apology either. Sad.
It's really about teaching the ignorant how to properly package items, so basic. I don't trust them to handle items correctly; what if this had been a gift?
And they let it happen again with the second bag. Same request, same hope, same basic packaging 101 error. Who are you hiring?
Honestly I have found much better customer service on eBay, with the highest ranking sellers. Some even have gift receipts and authenticity cards! I no longer receive emails from them so I'm assuming they removed me from their list. Saved me a step unsubscribing.
Time to be teachable, TRR.
Fantastic, Richard from Customer Services helped tremendously with a package issue it got stuck up in north Italy for a bit due to global crisis. Thank you so much! So happy with my bag its fabulous!
It has been a few years since I last sold anything on RR. My biggest annoyance with them is that they broke up matching sets of goods, keeping only what they wanted and sent the rest back, which you could not sell as a stand alone item. 1. I sent 2 identical earring and necklace sets to them, one with garnet and one with citrine stones. They kept one entire set and returned the earrings from the other set with the claim that they were not marked, when in fact they were EXACTLY like the set that they chose to keep. 2. I sent a 3 piece St. John pant set. They kept the slacks and the outer jacket and returned the inner sleeveless top, which was of no value to me without the rest of the set. BE CAREFUL WHEN SENDING MATCHING SETS OF ITEMS. THEY APPEAR TO BE TOTALLY ARBITRARY WITH WHAT THEY KEEP. My 3rd and last attempt at dealing with them was in March 2020 when the Covid nonsense started. I did a video inventory with them and sent everything that they said they would take. After 2 months of hearing nothing from them I demanded that they return all of my items. But they made only a partial return and had once again split apart mating items. The worst of splitting apart a beautiful St. John 2 piece set. After repeatedly hounding them they "found" the matching part that they kept.
My experience of this company after making a large order was BEYOND comprehension! They sent me the WRONG shoe- size was off by 3 sizes. Attempted to navigate return through website to no avail. A week with no response and I called into the customer service office. I spoke to * who made an already challenging circumstance elevate to a place of no return and a disconnected call. Her attitude was extremely combative and unprofessional. Upon asking her how I was suppose to "find a local UPS store" given we can a strict STAY AT HOME order here in California- she sarcastically said "not one person has had a problem- why do you".?!
I mean... at this point I'm laughing- can this really be happening? They send me the wrong shoe have my $350 and it's up to me to risk my life to find a store- uhhh... "Sorry can you schedule a UPS pick-up?"
*, "Sorry, no one has asked that!" -call disconnected
Then I call back to try again and get a "supervisor"
Her name is *
To make a long story short she quint ahead and set-up the UPS return to be picked up... after telling her about my experience with * she said, "I'll have to listen to the tapes"
Uhhhh... that's your response?
Is this how you respond to customers? You made a mistake, fine. You're a luxury consignment store. I highly suggest if you want to retain your luxury demographic you start treating your customers with respect and navigate your mistakes with a little respect and humility.
I own 2 businesses- when we make a mistake we make an offering to our clients and provide an apology. We are honored to have their business and they know it after EVERY interaction!
In these times- if you want to survive- I would highly suggest making the return process easier, especially when it's your fault~

Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
