I am not a professional musician. I am a hobbyist. Sweetwater has made me feel like valued customer for many years. The gear selection is top not notch and I have NEVER had a complaint. EVER! My purchases have arrived in a timely fashion and on the one occasion they did not my sales engineer Ben Stokes kept me updated on the issue. The issue was NOT Sweetwater's fault. I am a dedicated customer!
Just now 11/27/20 tried to negotiate a great deal on a drumset but got it %100 off sale nothing was thrown iin that wasn't a standard flagship store offering. Felt hustled by dealer.The reason I delt with them is possible delivery time could be less than 4 months.

I've made purchases from several online music stores over the years and Sweetwater was always the best in terms of price, customer service and fast shipping. I made 3 purchases from them this month and moving forward I will be making ALL of my musical gear purchases from Sweetwater. I ordered a sampler which happened to be an open-box unit... save money should be great right? Wrong! I received the unit with a damaged midi port. I had to struggle through DAYS of technical support that had the audacity to suggest at one point ignoring the non-functioning port and using a completely different setup.
I would've GLADLY paid for an unopened item if I had any indication the item wouldn't have been thoroughly inspected before being shipped out let alone listed for sale. INCREDIBLE.
They refused to return the package via FedEx stating the reasoning was that the package was delivered when it was available for pick-up at a FedEx location. They instead insisted I receive and purchase materials to repackage the replacement unit. So much for hassle-free returns!
There are so many companies selling music equipment these days, why spend your money where you're treated so poorly! I didn't even mention the account security issues IMMEDIATELY upon making my initial purchase.
There doesn't seem to be any real sense of integrity or stewardship at Sweetwater. I can't say they went above and beyond in helping me to get any issue resolved. I rightfully expect to return ANYTHING that I purchased damaged from anywhere. Silly me, I expected a smooth and empathetic resolution from start to finish.
I've never had an issue REMOTELY similar to this at Guitar Center and it's Guitar center and their years of experience I'll be buying with moving forward.

I read some other reviews that state they had trouble returning their product or getting a refund. I wanted to say this was not my case at all. I was able to receive a refund within 5 days of returning my product and they refunded everything except the return shipping fee. Additionally, my sales engineer was prompt and helpful answering questions about the return process.
Sweetwater goes far above and beyond customer service expectations they are coming up behind you to surprise you yet again with something special (and candy)!

I just got a call from a sweetwater rep, Taylor Perry, personally checking with me to make sure my order was okay. He was incredibly nice and personable, explaining that he was a guitarist too and we had a nice little chat about our shared hobby. He even gave me his direct line so I can text him if I ever have any issues. Never once in my life have I had such a good experience with customer service, and I will absolutely be giving them my business whenever possible from now on. Incredible company, their customer service is worth paying extra money for, and they don't even charge extra money for it! From now on, I'll suggest any music enthusiasts to buy from Sweetwater.
At the beginning of the pandemic, I was unfamiliar with Sweetwater but I knew it's competitors. My musician friend of 45 years told me to mention his name. My first purchase was a guitar pedal. I couldn't believe the personalized nature of the service (phone call & email). When the competition was out of stock, Sweetwater had already stockpiled supplies for the home recording studio I was building. Then, I asked my sales rep, Caleb, about some different guitars that were Out of Stock. We identified a couple, placed a hold on one, and he called me as soon as it came in: a G&L Bluesboy Tele. The 55-point inspection also helped sell me on Sweetwater. While shopping on line, I read reviews about guitars and found people spent money on set-up when ordering guitars from competitors and regretted NOT having ordered from Sweetwater. I love my new G&L, adding a new look and sound to my collection. Next, with Caleb's help, I ordered an Ibanez Mikro Mini as a surprise for my daughter who has been playing now for about 2 years. My daughter was taken completely by surprise, kept saying "It's Beautiful" and literally ran into her room and brought her amp out into the living room to play. (She is usually too shy to play in front of people.) Caleb himself has one and he was correct: The Ibanez provides a quality look, sound, and feel for an amazingly small price.
I look on line at the competition. I visit guitar shops in person. But when I am ready to buy, I go to Sweetwater. You would be well served to consider this approach.
