The overall reputation of the company reflects a significant divide in customer experiences. On one hand, some customers appreciate the helpfulness and professionalism of store staff, particularly in urgent situations. However, a prevailing sentiment highlights dissatisfaction with delivery reliability, order fulfillment, and customer service responsiveness. Many reviews express frustration over delayed shipments, unhelpful support, and issues with returns, leading to a perception of inadequate service. This inconsistency suggests a need for improved operational efficiency and customer communication to enhance overall customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Mathew R was outstanding and professional in his workman like service to both my wife and I when we came to the store to redeem my reward earnings and processed everything accordingly in a most expedient manner possible with great courtesy. My wife and I left your Shelton CT ******* store extremely satisfied and pleased.
Sincerely Alex and Christine Pappas
I ordered computer monitors for my company and while they arrived quickly, the return process has been very trying. The monitors were of poor quality, so I wanted to return them. I'm still involved in a 3 week process that will likely take another 10 days to complete. It's really unbelievable. Buyer beware!
I had a leaking cartidge and staff helped clean it up to see the barcode, they then identified the exact ink cartridge and shipped to my home.
I couldn't find the receipt for a computer chair I bought 2 1/2 years ago that had a problem. When i called the store, they reminded me I'd bought a warranty for three years. The warranty required a copy of the receipt. Staples only keeps them for 2 years, but they did their best for me by calling the warranty company and giving them whatever was needed. They did more than they had to and I am grateful.
I needed some office supplies. I usually order from Amazon, but, for the first time in quite a while, I decided to give Staples a try again. BIG MISTAKE. Firstly, then sent the wrong item (ordered 11x17 paper, received 8.5x11). Secondly, the items were improperly packaged and the paper (the WRONG paper) arrived damaged. Thirdly, because of the second issue, the printer ink I ordered arrived frozen (middle of winter, temps near zero). I online chatted with their Customer Service rep Jose and he was unhelpful, didn't listen and seemed most interested in getting me off of the chat. I told him the issues, asked that the ink NOT be reshipped because it would just arrive frozen again, and asked him to verify that the correct size of paper was available. No verification, later received a notice that the ink had been shipped but not the paper. CALLED their Customer Service, received the same run around. TL: DR incorrect products shipped poorly, HORRIBLE Customer Service Reps. And if THEY make a mistake, YOU are required to fix it. They take NO responsibility. Don't make the same mistake - shop elsewhere.
We were promised 2-day free delivery of an item that was not in stock in store. Then got email confirmation of delivery in about 10 days and cancelled order. The order was cancelled, the item was never shipped to us, but Staples refuses to issue the refund until they move the product back to their warehouse- which has so far taken over 2 weeks. They are liars and also behaving dishonestly with our money.
Sale price posted on shelf, I was made to feel like they were doing me some huge favor honoring sale, then tried to get me to pay full price after manager said he would give me the sale price.
He took all of my information to ship item to my house, then at the register, told me he wasnt giving me the price he promised.
This store (#609) wont see me again, Horrible way to treat a customer!
2hrs of my time wasted!
Poor buying experience and customer service experience on a computer purchase. I recommend staying away from them.
I purchased a Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combo. 1 month later the keys were sticking so badly I could not use it. (used to ordering from NO HASSLE AMAZON) but thought I'd give Staples another chance --14 day return policy. Seriously? I have to deal with the Manufacturer. All I can say is HASSLE, HASSLE, HASSLE! How do they expect to compete with Amazon?
The customer service was great but the product and technical expertise was an extremely stressful process the day I picked up my order. I ordered two banners and one was perfect but the second one was not what I ordered. They ran out of time the day I picked it up so I had to use what they had printed. Give yourself at least 3 full days to complete your order and plan on visiting the store twice to verify your final product. Day 1 - to submit your design online. Day 2 - to view the design on their software personally in the store and Day 3 - to see the finished product (the size you ordered and the scale of the images and words) and whether the design is stretched, shadowed, or any other options that may look different than your original order.
Ordered, cancelled without reason. Ordered again, cancelled again without reason. Called customer service, and was told to call operations instead, 'But we'll ask them to call you'. 2 days on and I'm still waiting. And for the last 4 days they have been holding $450 of my funds and will not release. WTF STAPLES? POOR FORM!
I placed an order for various electronics as part of their 'Cyber Monday' special. After successfully completing the transaction, I was sent confirmation emails for the orders. 12-hours later, when all the Cyber Monday deals were expired, Staples sent me an email stating that the items I ordered are out of stock and that the transactions had been cancelled. I called customer service and suggested they honor the price they "confirmed" me for 12-hours earlier when the item comes back into stock, and I was told that's not possible and that the transaction was voided and I would have to accept an updated price when the items came back into stock. I ended up buying the items for about 20% more from alternate websites, since Cyber Monday had culminated by the time Staples got back to me. I emailed Staples customer service explaining that my trusting their website over lesser known ones had resulted in a loss of a certain dollar figure, and I asked them if this level of service was acceptable to the company, and I received a very cursory response "I'm sorry for your inconvenience. Thanks for choosing staples. Have a nice day". Basically, Staples is waste of time, keystrokes, and consideration. They're as devoid of utility and purpose as a roll of butterscotch scented toilet paper in a care facility for anosmiacs - on second thought, even less so. They have no self respect, respect for their customers, or sense of purpose. They are a smoldering pile of crap in a cardboard pizza box, left at your unsuspecting front door. They are not to be engaged, unless you're using their website to obtain a price match from a more reputable website like Best Buy.
Terrible website and customer service, and they are racist as well.
They are very bad with store pickup. I called a store to check if they have a specific laptop and they said yes and once i drove there turns out they never had it.
Online: I submited an order and 2 days later called to check on my order they said the order was canceled from there side and never informed me and by that time the item was sold out.
Terrible
Did the online shopping for the Black Friday sale they sent me a confirmation of the sale and 24 hours later sent me a cancellation "Item not in stock". Thanks for nothing, should of said that when I ordered it. Many stores had the same item same price. 24 hr delay was just enough to screw me up.
I have purchased all FIVE of my HP Laptops from Staples. I will not purchase them anywhere else. Staff is educated on computers and gives great advice.
They have gone down hill in recent years just order what you need from amazon its cheaper and faster.
I like Staples for the variety of services, i. E. printing, UPS, FeDex drop off, fax service, but as a "store" it carries less and less, because they moved a lot of items online. If you need something now, you go there and chances are they don't sell it at the store, only onlione. Lot's of online stuff not available for same day pick up at store.
Staples was unable to deliver my order, I emailed them they said it would be delivered, it was delayed. I emailed to re-deliver, it was delayed. This happened about three times, I told them to call or email me for directions if they got lost. Cricket cricket. Nothing. Order is delayed. Called customer service, they use a 3rd party to deliver and they don't even have a contact number. Canceled order. Its 2017... get with the program staples. Horrible experience, will not be shopping with staples again.
I recommend this store for anything in terms of office supplies - they can provide any piece at reasonable prices. I`m constantly getting the supplies for my friends small business and never had an issue.
Answer: Good service at their brick and mortar store, now good service online
