Having completed the installation of the certificate key on my AWS server, I can report that it went without a hitch. I was able to upload the key, and both of the crt files to my server, then specify them in the node server's express options on launch through environment variables. It even works with the socket.io module that I'm running on the server, for secure web socket communication.
The best part was that it only cost me 15 bucks for 3 years worth of SSL.
