Did you know Spokeo can cancel peoples account for simply going to rental sites helping a friend find a place to live, and Spokeo pops up and if you don't use them or you use them then cancel your account because you don't need their service anymore they retaliate and cancel your account.? Talk about being totally messed up for a company for this is the craziest excuse manager Dave ID 11*** gave me, I am speechless. Beware when you use Spokeo they cancel for actually no reason at all and falsely accuse members of the dumbest lies I have ever heard of that is totally unbelievable. The information on my search was ridiculously wrong! I informed the site on this and heard nothing back. I requested the cancelation of my subscription and thought I was done with this company. WRONG! A few weeks later, I was charged almost $30 for services I had canceled. When I asked for a refund they offered less than $12 instead of the entire amount. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! And customer service is HORRIBLE

Deceptive billing practices, misleading advertisements but excellent customer service to handle their many complaints. This is a Mickey Mouse company so stay away. There are many better resources out there so do your homework.

I tried Spokeo one time. I had an address and was looking for residents and phone numbers. The names of every resident were bogus. The phone numbers were all for different people who lived elsewhere, or for businesses, or not in service. Completely useless.

I just signed up for the free trial I thought and was charged 29.95 out of no where for a subscription I didn't want. I was refunded 11.98 because I was told full refunds are basically non-refundable.

Beware of Deceptive Practices
I recently had an absolutely nightmarish encounter with SPOKEO and I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others about their unethical practices. I signed up for their services, only to find out that the information provided was inaccurate and misleading.
Upon discovering the issue, I contacted their customer service number, and the nightmare escalated from there. The representative I spoke with, although seemingly nice, had no intention of resolving the matter promptly. Instead, she placed me on hold not once, not twice, but a mind-boggling four times, each time promising that her manager would handle the situation.
Here's where the situation reached its zenith of absurdity. When the manager finally took the call, their response was nothing short of shocking. In a display of astonishing rudeness and disregard for customer concerns, the manager effectively told me, in the politest terms possible, to go jump in a lake. The manager capped off this delightful exchange by hanging up on me.
This level of disrespect and lack of professionalism is beyond comprehension. It's disheartening to encounter a company that not only fails to deliver accurate information but also treats customers with such disdain when their errors are brought to light.
I strongly advise anyone considering SPOKEO to think twice. Their sketchy sign-up services, coupled with a customer service experience that would make a masochist cringe, make them a company to steer clear of. Save yourself the frustration and headaches, and find a business that values its customers and upholds basic principles of honesty and integrity.
The Male Manager that the female handed me off to would not provide his name and hung up on me. It is no way to do business and only hope that this post helps someone else before they give their money to this soon to be black listed, sketchy operation.

I made a mistake and signed up for the 7 day trial for 0.95 cents. I called customer service and spoke with a very nice lady named Jessica who took care of canceling my order for me. In fact, she did such a professional job and was so helpful that I asked to speak to her supervisor in order to compliment her. I spoke with Justin, ID#1541, and told him how impressed I was.
Now the reason I canceled was because the person I was trying to find, a long lost friend, the phone numbers they provided were both disconnected.

Enter an email address on spokeo.com. Do a search. The site inform you they found everything about the email, including address, name and more. Give them a credit card. Then the site informs you they did not find anything about the specified email. How could they stay in business is beyond me. Thiefs is an understatement. Crooks might be better.

I used Spokeo to look at phone calls made to my family. I found it somewhat accurate, but then Spokeo had an employee contact via me a fake "Survey", to find why I was looking at phone records, and why. They offered a "$20 Amazon gift card and I participated. The questions asked indicated it wasn't actually an interview about my opinion.

I did a search to find a contact. The search showed up that there was information but I needed to pay 0.95 to access the results. I set up the account and paid. The search then revealed that there was no information about the contact I had searched. Disappointingly fraudulent, but not the worst part!
I was irritated that I'd been charged for a service they didn't provide so I went to my PayPal to see if I could cancel the payment - I couldn't. BUT I notice that there was an ongoing payment set up on my PayPal account to Spokeo. This was not identified in the email receipt they sent to me and I couldn't remember checking any boxes agreeding to this. So I went back to the email receipt they sent to see if it was identified. It wasn't (see photo 1). So then I scrolled down the email and RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM it mentioned that in making this 0.95 purchase, I had agreed to a 7 day free trial followed by a 29.95 per month subscription. (See photo 2)
I cancelled the payment through PayPal and tried to talk toSPokeo customer services, but no one was available. I doubt I'll get a refund of the 0.95 (which isn't the end of the world, but there's a PRINCIPLE at play, people!)
I really would be careful to check your statements if you've ever used this company for anything because they are sharks looking for the cracks and loopholes in your cyber-awareness. Completely unethical, ammoral - corporate whores at their worst!

I hated giving 1 star. Should be negative 12 stars. Awful trickery luring you into paying.95 for an address but in the small print is a monthly subscription. After purchasing the one address for.95 it asked if I wanted a monthly subscription and I clicked no. After 7 days was charged 29.95. What a rip off. DO NOT USE SPOKEO

This service entices you with the promise of delivering results before payment. However, after paying the initial fee of 0.95 USD, no results are provided. What's worse is that you unknowingly subscribe to a 29.95 USD monthly plan without prior notification, and there is no option for a refund. Answer: Watch for the $20 charge at the end of the month. They say a person is out, then the charge comes a month later. Had to cancel my card and get new # to keep them out of my wallet.
Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.
Answer: Not that I know of but they're slick the moment you put your card info in it saves and if you use something that takes payment they'll charge the card without asking.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
