Paid into self regularly on autopay and 18 months into paying with nearly $2000 saved, they decided to verify my account, why? Who knows. I completed the verification but apparently they didn't process it correctly. They closed my account and kept my money.
I cannot believe this is legal
My experience with self.com was very great my mom actually told me about it and I love it I will definitely be joining again in a month or 2!
Score dropped 33 point because my balance decreased what kind of bs is that?!?!? My score is literally worse then it was before using this bs!
I put $1000 into my account and everytime I look at its less than a $1000. Not to mention in order to pay $2 you would have to pay $4.75 in fees every time so a $2 payment looks like $6. Why are these additional charges and pinching of account something they do.
I want to thank self for making it so easy to improve your credit rating and save money at the same time. I would definitely recommend self to my family and friends.
I had this account, lost my job and the credit card used I lost. I missed one payment and my score took a 100 point deduction, which defeats the purpose of my utilizing self. When you are already doing business with people who have challenges that are sometimes out of their control there should be some consideration taken. 100 points seems a bit excessive for the monthly payment that I used to save my money. I wouldn't recommend self.
I signed up for a loan that was supposed to give me an X amount of money after paying oh so much money monthly. That oh so much money that I was supposed to be getting was the exact amount of money that I was paying monthly. So it's money that I already had that was being taxed extremely high. That's not what I signed up for. This company doesn't try to help you this company tries to rip you off. Once I pay off my credit card with them, I am getting rid of them for good. Watch what they say they word things differently!
If u are not prepared to do their program, signing up with self will screw up your credit. They will close your account for non-activity and then they will report it to all three credit companies.
Self help me to improve my credit with reasonable spending & steady payments on time. Yes I recommend self cc services to anyone trying to build or rebuild credit.
Love the dashboard software monitoring you credit score progress...
I canceled my prescription with them 2 months ago and they sent it to the credit people because they didn't cancel it. I have lost 80 points because of these people. I've been hacked four times. Do not recommend horrible service. Can't speak to a supervisor. Do not recommend
Well I was skeptical when I was first told about it but this app really does work help repairing damaged credit. My credit score is way better cause of it. It has opened up more possibilities with other financial institutions to get credit I didn't think was possible.
When I started with self I had no credit now I have great credit. It was so simple. I strongly advise everyone to give it a try you got nothing to lose but a bad credit score and everything to gain. Thank you self forever grateful
Several months they did not pull the money out of the acct automatically and charged me a late fee then reported to the credit agencies. Credit scores drop dramatically! Rip off! I said it!
This is a excellent way to build credit, it help me get my score up so fast. I am signing back up to get my score higher... Thank you for this program..
I Opened my Credit Builder account in Feb 2021 And Was offered A Self Visa Credit Card Back By My Funds In My Credit Builder Account In July 2021 - Was Charged $25 without being told. This relationship was created to help me recover from the damages of extreme Identity theft. So I had to unlocked/unfreezed my credit File to open the accounts. But in September 2022 I was charged $25 again for the Visa card and then it was close without notice on October 01 2022. At this time there was a credit balance (Over payment) on my account of $87.02 because I had paid my account in full and then did a return of the purchase I made a few weeks earlier. So my credit limit at the time was $1775 + $87.02(credit) Which $1500( was my money being held from my credit builder account & $275 extra credit extended because of the good relationship. But my account was close for not reason and they are holding on to my $1500 deposit + $87.02 (Credit balance) + $25( Fee they charge to renew the card even though they cancelled/closed it). This seems like a pattern they are defrauding the very people the claim to be in business to help. It have been almost 2 months and no supervisor or manger has respond to my numberless attempts and now one care to help when you call them. They are closing people account and holding onto people hard earned money without any explanation.
Don't ever loose it have a discrepancy with your card, I've been without a card since late October of 2022, because of a discrepancy my card was cancelled and was told they were issuing me another one which would take 10 to 14 days it's been well over 14 days no replacement card came, when I contacted the customer service was asked was the address I had in file the right address I informed them yes, however they informed me that they would have to cancel the card that never came (how when it was never activated) to resend one which would take an additional 10 to 14 days which is unacceptable to me seeing that I've been without a card since October.that policy needs to be altered for situations like this.
I wanted to build my credit. I've been with Self for a year, and all I do is keep making payments. About four months ago, I was notified that they send me a credit card every time I check every time I call they just put me through so much and they say oh we're gonna send you another one it's been over four months this is a scam I don't recommend it to anyone please do not fall for it!
I am trying to rebuild my credit and did this Self Inc program. There was no hard pull on my credit, I did get my 'refund' when it was done and they did update my credit files with the tradelines. So in that sense it did what it is supposed to do. But the interest rate is way to high for what this is. They do not actually loan you money, you just give money to them. So this is a savings account with a very high negative interest rate. You are paying them to put a positive tradeline in your credit report. Keep in mind a new account will actually lower your average account age and be a slight negative. But what they charge is too much for what they do. Many companies out there take advantage of those trying to rebuild their credit and this company is one of them.
When I first opened my self account we did so because we wanted to buy a home with my daughter. Now we have just bought our first home together for the grandkids thanks in a large part to self :)
Hey y'all... I just wanted to tell my story.
I have suffered from chronic pain for many MANY years (since aged 15, im 38 now). I also dealt with addiction, in August 2019 I decided to change my life and get clean! I got my own place in Aug 2020, and in November 2020 I got my first self credit builder account! Yesterday I paid off my account and established 24 months of good payment history with all 3 credit bureaus! I am extremely grateful for this experience and I look forward to another two years of credit building with Self•! If you're wondering if this will work for you, don't hesitate another moment! Grab this opportunity while it's available! I'd recommend the Self App to any and everyone! Thanks so much Self!
Answer: Beware of the fees. It is all going to them plus they will start hitting you with annual fees which they refuse to refund even when you close your account within that month. Scam and sketchy. Other banks will do the same for way less money and fees.
Answer: Yes I did it myself, just this year. I left my money in my account and started over
