Customer service and return policies with this company are absolutely horrendous. Their reviews on Trustpilot are awful for the same reasons. This company is so money hungry it's disgusting. My boyfriend placed an order with Right Stuf for a friend for the holidays and recieved a deal when purchasing items. The post office has a problem reading our address and sent the packages he ordered back to Right Stuf. We've gone to the post office about this problem so many times and they've not been able to do anything. Any other company we call and explain this issue to, they say that they will ship the product back or give the option of sending the product to another address instead. When calling Right Stuf to address this issue, they told my boyfriend that they can only issue a refund, but not a full refund. And they will not resend the items out to a new address. They explained that they are going to deduct FOUR charges from his refund (2 for shipping back to the company and 2 for restocking the purchased items on the shelf). So out of the $100 he spent, he has only gotten back around $22. So now his friend isn't getting any of his Christmas gifts. And all the customer service representative said was that he could repurchase these items during another sale. No thank you, never purchasing from this company again.
My Update:
Company is still trying to try and blame customers with this response that I recieved from Jake. Just awful. If you, Jake H. Would have actually read what I wrote and looked at the pictures I included you would see that there was two separate charges and I said "packages" in my review here. I already knew there was two separate orders. And what if we lived out of state away from family and friends and didn't have anywhere else to ship it? If we would have known that your company had the worst return policies in existence, we never would have placed an order with this company. I still stand by my opinion that this is a money hungry company just like they stand behind their horrible return policies.
Their verification step makes no sense at all. I provided all the evidence and they are not satisfied. Why is it necessary to verify to begin with anyway? It is 2019! It is even more frustrating when the staff has reading disability.
Tried to charge me near double as a handling fee, no idea what the hell they are expecting when they treat the customers like $#*!
Truly the best place for all your geeky needs, the prices are terrific and keep me coming back for more, delivery is excellent, never have to wait around too long!
I have been ordering from rightstuf for a couple of years now and I love them.
They are an incredibly cheaper alternative than purchasing in stores or at conventions, especially when you have the membership ($18 a year). On average, most books I buy are around 15-33% off and I buy very large orders. Their shipping is super fast and I usually get my products within the week, the next at the latest. They are also always updating their catalog and keeping up on new releases, as well as having constant sales each week. The books are always in perfect condition when I get them, theyre packed perfectly, and I always get posted notes in each box. My work office is filled with them.
As for customer service, Ive only ever had to deal with them twice, and both times they've been awesome to me (both times due to a credit card issue on my part). The answering machine is amusing and gave me a chuckle the first time I heard it, definitely not what you would expect from a professional company. I kind of love calling them when I need to. Both representatives have always been patient and helped me with my issues. They actually sound like they enjoy their job!
Ive only had rightstuf cancel one book on me due to not having it in stock and I actually had forgotten about the book by the time they told me. No big deal. I ended up finding it elsewhere.
For now, Ive saved over a grand just from buying from rightstuf over this last year. If you're planning on buying orders over $50 (for the free shipping in the US) I would totally recommend shopping with them. Outside of convention deals or discounts in bookstores these guys are the cheapest options.
I love this company! They gave me a $5 gift certificate after I found a gun in my April Fool's blind box
My objective for writing this review is to share my personal experience with ordering from RightStuf, and perhaps convince those who are on the fence about trying this online retailer (like I used to be) to give it a shot.
(Note: I live near Toronto, and I ordered 19 manga volumes last Aug 13,2018)
I'll admit that I had some apprehensions about ordering from RightStuf because I've seen that its reviews are divided in websites like this one. But in Twitter, I've read more positive experiences. Bottomline: I took a leap of faith (haha) and decided to see for myself. Overall, I had a very pleasing experience when I ordered for the first time from them.
1.) Quick order fulfillment
I thought that my order will be delivered in 2 weeks, but it only took 4 days. In its website, they said that picking and packing will take at most 2 business days (after I placed the order), while shipping to Canada is estimated to be between 5-7 business days. But like I said, the whole process only took 4 days.
I placed my order on a Monday night (Aug 13). On the following day (Tues), at noon, I got an email notifying me that my order has already been picked and packed. On Wed afternoon, my order has been picked up by FedEx, and on Friday (Aug 17), at 10 am, it was delivered to my home.
It must be noted, though, that I ordered in August - after their month-long birthday sale in July, so maybe their workload is less compared to their peak periods. Also, the volumes that I ordered are relatively old, and so the chances of them becoming out-of-stock after I placed my order are very slim. With these, because Aug was presumably not a busy time, and my books are in stock, their order fulfillment was fast.
2.) The books are in great condition
I have very high standards (OC standards haha) when it comes to my books' condition, and I was very surprised that 16 of 19 of what I ordered met my high expectations. The 3/19 were still in good shape, but it's just that they have minor defects like scratches which I find slightly bothersome. In other words, for the average person, all of them were in great condition.
Their packaging is great. They wrapped the items with a brown paper material, and they put some cardboard on the sides of the box which act as cushion/extra protection. And they placed more of the brown paper on top. I wish they put some additional layer at the bottom which I think is the weakest side, but like I said, my books arrived fine.

The only downside from my experience is that, since I ordered from Canada, the USD-CAD exchange rate is not so favorable right now, and so it was like paying for the books at their full retail price plus tax here or maybe more (Obviously, this is already beyond RightStuf's control). But I didn't really mind because some of the items I bought were hard to find anywhere else.
Overall, I had a great experience when I ordered from them. Hopefully, this review will be of some help for those thinking about trying RightStuf. :)
It appears that the majority of the negative reviews posted about RightStuf.com are from disgruntled customers who made holiday orders and didn't receive them before Christmas. It's always a good idea to do your latest holiday ordering before the middle of November to avoid this. I ordered a difficult-to-find DVD from RightStuf.com on Wednesday, 5/30/18, and it wasn't shipped until Saturday, 6/2. The USPS expected delivery date was Thursday, 6/7, and I was surprised to get an update from USPS.com on Sunday, 6/3 showing that my DVD had made it from Iowa to Memphis, TN in less than 24 hours. I received my order on Tuesday, 6/5/18, two days earlier than expected. This was surprising since Media Mail is slow at any time, but especially anywhere near the first of a month because Media Mail's always been the 'redheaded stepchild' of postal rates, often getting left off of outgoing trucks to save room for First Class and Priority Mail. Others have mentioned their credit cards being charged before their orders were shipped. Any business will make certain that a customer's payment will go through before they ship, so I don't blame RightStuf.com one bit for being cautious. I paid through PayPal, and my initial e-mail from PayPal showed that my card wouldn't be charged until my order was processed. My card was charged on Thursday, 5/31 and I received the tracking number from RightStuf.com on Friday, 6/1. They're slow to ship but they eventually do, and if you're looking for something that nobody else stocks as a gift for the holiday season, all you have to do is order by mid-October/early November and make sure your payment method won't be declined.
So I just placed an order with RightStuf. I place usually one or two big orders a year. Placed an order early Monday morning before they opened. Tuesday, I get an email saying my order is on hold for payment verification. This is a week before Christmas with expedite shipping. Package will arrive after the holiday now most likely because instead of being sent out Tuesday, it will be sent out Wednesday or Thursday.
There was no reason for a delay in my order. I have ordered from them for years. The card they had on file for payment was the same. The shipping address was the same. Instead of checking my account history or giving me a phone call, they put a pending charge on my card and only notify me the next day via email.
I called them up and they give me a list of excuses, about how nothing they did was wrong because it's in the ToS on their site. They gave me an excuse that they put on their social media and emailed that Christmas orders should have been put in by the 10th to ensure their delivery. Well, that's funny because I have all their emails and never received that one. In the end, they stated that I would not have received the items prior to the holiday anyways, unless I had expedited shipping. Well, no duh, and that's why I paid extra for it. Guess that was pointless since they cannot send the order out on time.
In the end, I would say, buyer beware with RightStuf now adays. You never know when something will ship or when something will go out of stock and hold up an order. The company has grown in size, but their service has become complete garbage and they do not seem to care about the customer any longer.
This is going to be my last order with this company. After speaking with them on the phone, it really made me feel that they just do not care. They took no additional steps to resolve the issue or make me feel like a valued customer. They just hid behind their ToS and gave a half-hearted apology. Very disappointed with what this company has become and am going elsewhere.
The only place that you can find good quality items amd prices with a fast shipping and no damages to the product for over night shipping anf you can find particular items with decent prices that you won't find anywhere else and the quality count is better then any local home goods store
I bought about 20 dvds and blu rays from them. Out of the 20 items, 2 was out of stock. I asked them to send those that were in stock, however, their shipping policy was to wait till everything in the order is complete before shipping out. Hence I had to wait for more than 7 months before I got my items. When I finally got all the items, I opened some and found fingerprints on the disc, which means to say the item is not new as advertised, either that, it must have been returned from a previous buyer, repacked and send to me. My advice is to take your business elsewhere.
I've been a customer for many years and while no company is perfect, in the past they have been good for the most part. I was more accepting of issues when they were smaller, but they've actually gotten worse - not better over the years. Most companies have growing pains, but Rightstuf seems to embrace them rather than fix them.
Customer service is subpar for a company of their size; ticketing system is abysmal. They are more than happy to help you up to the point where it is to fix an issue where they screwed up. If it was their screw up, don't expect them to admit it or pay for the return shipping. You're on your own and you better hope the package arrives perfectly or they will deduct perceived damage from your refund. I expect this type of behavior from eBay sellers, not a decent sized company like Rightstuf. If you think getting a manager will help you, think again. They are email warriors - rude, egotistical, and downright nasty at times.
Website looks good on the surface, but as soon as you start ordering you see the issues pop up. It's slow, has multiple bugs, and isn't very well designed.
Their packaging is the only thing they have going for them. I'll give them that. It's excellent. Problem is, they will never believe that they sent you something damaged, so unless you want to spend a lot of money for the return, you've pretty much negated any benefit to purchasing from them.
My advice is to purchase your blu-rays and anime related items from other retail outlets. Rightstuf might be enticing since everything is all in one place, but you can get better pricing and much more professional customer service elsewhere.
As mentioned around here they need to get their priorities straight, not a customer friendly shop. I've been shopping with them for nearly two years and no more in going with the sentai film works shop! Way better
When I asked for a return authorization number for a duplicate item I mistakenly ordered, I was told I had to fill out their form first. The form is titled "claim statement - lost or damaged parcels" and requires a signature that includes the line "I understand the consequences of fraud as described below". I repeatedly tried to explain I was not talking about a damaged shipment, just a simple return. They still refused to provide a return authorization. My BBB case number is *******, which is still open.
The item was great nothing was wrong with it 100% happy with it love collecting anime and they are nice people.
I have ordered from Rightstuf from their catalog when I was a kid (talking Akira on VHS!). Their shipping speeds were always bad. I haven't used them in a long time with other websites offering the same products at better prices, shipping speed, convenience, etc.
I decided to order a blu-ray from them since they had it for a few dollars less than Amazon.com. Unfortunately, their shipping speeds are still atrocious. Granted there was a holiday weekend, but it still took them 6 days to create a shipping label. My order hasn't even been shipped yet, it was ordered before the holiday and at the very least should have been shipped this past Tuesday, but it's not even there yet, I will be lucky to see it shipped by this weekend.
To make matters worse, they are charging $4 for shipping one blu-ray! That is more than the media mail USPS rate! Needless to say I will not be ordering from them again.
They love to accept unlimited numbers of preorders apparently on limited edition items that they can't produce. Amazon is usually cheaper anyways. Keep away from rightstuf, also pretty slow shipping.
Their systems are very bad and if you are Canadien ordering from RightStuff you will regret you ever made an order with them. They only ship orders to Canada once they reach a certain weight of orders. So if it takes 1 month well you got to wait.
If you do not have a phone number on your account your order will not ship out and you will only be notified after the shipments goes out that your order was not shipped since the number does not exist on your account.
The system periodically deletes the number from your account.
The support chat will give you the generic response and bases all their messages on what their system tells them. They will never actually look into any issue. The support is outrageous.
After waiting and chatting with the supports for weeks you will eventually get your package and the products will be in good quality. So other then the horrible company the products are good.
Tried to go to animenation to find it no longer had a store but they redirected me to rightstuff anime. Did my 2015 Black Friday shopping there, and placed a 190$ order. One full week later (on Friday Dec 4th 30 mins before their offices closed over the weekend) I was e-mailed that my order was canceled with no explanation included. After getting in contact with their customer service I was told that the order was canceled due to a declined 1$ authorization charge on the Fri 27th a WEEK earlier (For which I will be contacting Global Cash Card, stupid payroll card! I am switching over to direct deposit). After asking if I could arrange payment to reopen the order they said they could not facilitate this and that I would have to make a new order with the current prices which when totaled up was over 80$ more.
I am very dissatisfied because Black Friday deals everywhere are long past by the time I was told I had to re-order on Dec 8th.
I will be suggesting to them that they include reasons for canceled orders and if there are payment issues to get in contact in a more timely manner.
I really like this site I bought from them a few times and they have nice prices.
If you were to buy from the producers of the shows it would cost about ten times more.
They have nice bargain deals for things some times a dollar or less. This is one of those sites that I keep going back to.
