I ordered more then 19 items off this site ship alone cost more then the items. Only received 5 of my items talk to customer report and Appeal a case. They never put effort to help and close the case every day if I do not respond with new information when I explain all the information I have in a email with photos. Was give a choice to get a refund after a few week with customer support but I would only received 14 dollar of the 40 I paid. Because 20 was for shipping fee for items that never ship and insurance fee for a items they do not want to replace.
I used to love getting stuff from them, but don't have anything in your life come through that impacts your order short notice. They cannot and will not help you. I had an preorder that I needed to update the shipping on, but the order had started to be processed. I contacted them and they could not do anything and suggested I contact the delivery company to get the package rerouted. I asked for the routing number, but I was told it had not been created yet and not shipped! So, tracking not made, but they cannot change the address. So that means that they will not update their work flow for a customer. This is laughable as it always takes so long for them to ship out in stock order as it is. I feel like I am just money to them and they cannot give their customer support any tools to help people.
If the old address does not return the package and I cannot get it forwarded, I will be out money even with the insurance as it will be "Delivered".
They must not have much control of their inventory on orders so I cannot trust buying anymore from them.
Every order I place includes damaged books. Damage includes severe creases or dents, dirt stuck to covers, box cutter slashed covers and I even got a book with the cover not glued on. To make matters worse they expect the customer to take numerous pictures and practically beg to send back the trash they ship. I'll purchase elsewhere from now on even if it costs a little more. I'm not dealing with the second class merchandise and horrible customer service anymore.
Just another of many companies using COVID-19 as an excuse for bad customer service. At some point, TRSI decided to implement a policy of not sending out partial orders, without telling customers. I placed several orders in November and December of 2020 during their annual holiday sale. In March, I receive an email stating that my card has been declined. In the four months of waiting for the order, I was issued a new card. You cannot edit payment information on the website, so I called customer service. No matter how many times I called, I always got the answering service. I left a message for them to call me back. Nothing. I call and left a message asking them to charge another card on the account, they update a later order but cancel the first order. When I call them again and finally get through and ask why they canceled the first order, the CSR says I never contacted them about the first order, and that they will not honor the sale price. For the last order placed during this period (12/26/2020), I didn't hear anything for nearly a year (10/28/2021) other than a few emails stating that due to lack of availability they would have to cancel part of my order. When the order hit my account, my bank automatically froze everything thinking it was fraudulent (the original order was $1,350.83, after cancellations the new amount was $1,200.14). I ask if the order can be held until my bank is done with their assessment and the CSR ran the card again, making things worse. As soon as my bank unfreezes my account, I email the CSR back to let them know everything is all set. They canceled my order and invited me to reorder everything at full price. I call them on their BS and said I would never do business with them again, so they canceled the rest of my orders. They didn't refund my orders mind you, I had to contact them again for that. Total garbage company. Oh, and did I mention that after waiting all that time they weren't even shipping the order in its entirety?
RightStuf has been my go-to shop for manga! I have recently decided, though, to only preorder manga from them as their shipping times are very slow. It is probably because of an overwhelming amount of orders and that's fine. If I need something ASAP I just order somewhere else. But their books come BEAUTIFULLY packaged. Every single manga I've received from RightStuf was crisp, clean, and perfect! Customer service was also fast and helpful when I've needed to cancel orders.
Great company with great prices! Shipping can be a little slow at times but paying almost half the retail price makes it worth the wait. Longest I have ever waited is a month and a half. I have saved hundreds of dollars, and everything is always packaged with care. Also no sales tax on top off dirt cheap prices! Would highly recommend for anyone who is getting into manga or anime.
Do not expect to receive the item as depicted on their website. Images are just an example of what you'll receive, not a guarantee. I purchased a Blu-Ray disc that was shown to have a slipcover in the picture. Nowhere in the item's description did it say this would not be included. I have 12 other volumes of this anime on Blu-Ray and they all have slipcovers so now I'm stuck with this goofy naked Blu-Ray case. Customer support was unhelpful and directed me to a clause on their returns page stating that they do not guarantee slipcovers even if shown in the photo. This is predatory as very few consumers will read the returns page in anticipation of receiving a dud. Customer support did not leave any room for discussion, simply closed my ticket with no resolution. Will not be shopping here again.
I made my order in September 2021. It's been 9 months. I still haven't received it.
My order was one backorder book and 2 in-stock books. The backordered book was expected to take 6 weeks. It definitely told me a 6 week expectation. I remember it being written in small letters on the order page. It's been 9 months.
Around the 5 month mark I sent them email asking: Can you partially ship my order?
They said: No. Our policy says we are not obligated to do that.
That was it. Now I am at the 9 month mark. I sent them another email, we'll see how it goes.
This website accepts money for "backorders" I don't believe they ever going to receive. I think they know they are never going to receive them, hence the horrid policy.
They steal your money and never give you what you ordered if one of your items are on backorder. And they get away with it because of their "policy." DO NOT give this company your money. DO NOT!
I had an unusual issue with an older order that I thought I would have to pay for myself to get fixed due to the age of the order. The customer service representative took care of it and sent out a replacement anyway. I have ordered things from them for years and will continue to do so.
Jake Hockenberry reached out to me after his team notified him of my review/experience. He offered to do a reorder with the same discount and also be guaranteed prioritization. I got the books within days and they were pretty perfect condition.
I lost so much on my refund. My purchase was $81.94, and Right Stuf Inc. only refunded me 63.11. I never received any products and a refund was forced on me, and I'm still in the negative. Please see the picture below. I plan on disputing this charge considering shipping was free for me. Avoid this if you can :(
I literally receive my orders from amiami in Japan quicker than I do than this company and they are in the same country as me. Called and then they told me they are waiting for shipments from the warehouse? Why are you selling products not in your inventory already but claiming it is "in stock." So unprofessional, horrible ship times and seriously they never respond to emails. Just spam the phone number you will get a response.
I have ordered many times from Rightstuf and I really like the company. I mainly purchase manga and buy a lot of it so the price savings is really good compared to retail. One problem you may encounter is with shipping. Rightstuf"s packaging and pricing is good, but the time it takes to ship is the only real problem. The way that Rightstuf works is that you are able to purchase any item on their site, regardless if it is stock or not. If they are expecting more of that item, you will be able to buy it. Being able to do this comes with the downside of waiting til the items arrive. For me, this is not a huge concern of mine as I like reading a series all at once and have no problem waiting, as I don't really live near a place selling a lot of manga. If you don't like waiting long, purchase only in stock items (which will be clearly marked) and those packages for me, arrive like a week or two at most after purchasing. You can set up alerts via email for when items you want come in stock. If you buy enough items from them they sometimes ship partial orders out, as well as mixing in multiple orders together of what items they have in stock. So if you make like one or two orders you might have to wait till everything's in stock to get your items, but if you make multiple orders that are also large enough, you probably will get packages that are a mix of multiple different orders.
Reason for slow stocking:
Demand and COVID. COVID limited everything everywhere and with the addition of the REALLY high demand manga suddenly got over the pandemic, meeting the demand has been difficult. I am seeing stuff getting restocked quicker now, but it might still be kind of slow for a little.
I PREORDER AN ITEM. WAIT A YEAR AND IT FINALLY GETS IN STOCK ONLY FOR THEM TO SHIP AN ITEM THAT WAS ALREADY DAMAGED BEFORE THEY BOXED AND SHIPPED IT. THEN HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY I HAVE TO PAY TO SHIP IT BACK. THE ITEM IS 16 LBS SHIPPING ISN'T CHEAP. SELLING DAMAGED ITEMS LABELED AS NEW IS MALPRACTICE. THIS IS MY FIRST ORDER AND MY LAST.
This website is one of my favorite places online to purchase all things related to anime and manga. I have been a customer of theirs for over 10 years. They offer a wide selection of products for reasonable prices and often have very good sales and deals going on throughout the year. Their customer service is amazing. In the past, I have had several issues and they took are of the issues promptly and extremely well. I can always count on them to help me out, if anything goes wrong. They also offer a paid membership program called "Got Anime", if you are someone who buys anime and manga merchandise frequently. You get nice perks, like discounts and other special deals that you normally would not get. I have used/been a member in the past, so I can safely say it is worth what you pay to be a member. So if you are looking for a really good and reliable place online to purchase your anime and manga-related merchandise, I highly recommend you check them out.
While they do have good sales on manga and anime items, their system is so antiquated! Customer service doesn't seem to know what their system can or can't do. As someone who's getting into manga and anime figures recently, I'm extremely disappointed in this company and the customer service.
I had my card compromised so I had to cancel it. Unfortunately, my bank did a chargeback for an order I did. I was assured by my bank it was fine but it was what it was. I fixed the issue with Right Stuf and paid the fee. And everything was fine. Or so I thought!
All of a sudden, my back order and pre orders got cancelled. What the heck? Customer service said it was because of the chargeback. I thought it was fixed. So now they want money upfront via PayPal. Okay! But some of my orders were purchased by cards and didn't get cancelled and some did. What the heck?
It was like they were making their own policy as it went! Customer service is condescending; that was my first complaint to them. I asked to correct an order because, again, their antiquated system wouldn't let you correct an order once submitted. Well, I placed a big order and just needed help in getting it corrected.
So disappointed. I'll definitely be limiting my business with them. Had I known they were like this, I would not have purchased the Anime membership.
I ordered four books as Christmas presents on 12/5. One was on back order. Their policy is if one of your items is on BO, they hold the rest until it comes in. It is now 12/22 and I wont have these for Christmas. It wasn't like it was free shipping. I paid almost eight dollars. These people are horrible.
I've boughten tons of manga and figures from right stuff and the customer support has been helpful, it always comes in a couple of days even when I choose the long option and the prices are great.
Placed an order of manga with this "business" and immediately started receiving promotional emails (spam) but no order confirmation. After about a week I begin to wonder what the shipping status of my order is, but I can't log-in & attempts to retrieve password didn't work. So I call their customer service number. Without providing any information they knew my e-mail (caller ID?), although not the one they had been spamming. They told me my order wouldn't ship until I verified the amount of some deposit between $1-$5 (no idea what this is). Thoroughly confused I attempted to find the info so I could verify while on the phone with the representative, but alas he rushed me off telling me "we have other customers who need help." I guess attempting to spend money with them didn't qualify me as a customer & calling asking for help didn't qualify as needing help. What a shame. They look like they have great stuff, but they not only didn't seem interested in helping with my order, but their representative was absolutely rude & unprofessional. I do thousands of dollars in online retail commerce a month & have never heard of these deposit verifications, but the rep on the phone acted like I was stupid for not knowing what he was talking about. I would absolutely recommend finding a different retailer for your anime/manga needs if at all possible. These people are strange, treat customers like trash & have some of the most absurd order processing policies in the industry. If 0 stars were an option I would gladly hit them with it, because they don't deserve consumers' time or money.
I had been using this company for over 10 years.
My item was lost in the mail (USPS gave me the empty box) and they wanted me to mail in a physical claim form. I let them know that it would take time cause I didn't own a printer and the libraries were not open due to covid. I was eventually able to get access to a computer and mailed them the form.
The agent who first took my complaint said she would close my issue and that they would work on it again when they received the form. I sent them a follow up email letting them know my issues with printer access (not all of us can afford such things) and never heard back. I was eventually able to due so, but again never heard anything.
I recently contacted them regarding this, but they claimed they never received the form and that too much time passed so they would not give me my money back. I was NEVER told of a time limit. This is in the time of covid when their own website even stated it could take longer to process and ship things, but apparently their customers that are wronged are expected to have the means to own their own printer and work under there time tables. Nothing like taking advantage of the poor for your own gains I suppose.
I have no doubts the form arrived, but since the original agent said she was closing my request upon the form review I believe their staff saw the issue closed and just threw away the form. Is it possible the form was lost in the mail? Sure, but since I've never, ever had that issue before I have a hard time accepting that this company "never received my form".
Be aware that if even if you are not an employee of Right Stuff you are still expected to operate under company time.
Hi Kristy,
We appreciate you reaching out to us but we'd like to clarify some of the claims you are making. We took $121.09 and sent you the product you ordered. Your items were lost in the mail and we're sorry that happened. The policy you stated we made up has been on our website for years (https://www.rightstufanime.com/returnauthorization).
You didn't need to mail in the physical claim form but we needed you to fill it out and return it to us. That meant either by scanning or even taking a picture of the claim form that you had filled out and emailing it back to us.
The first representative you were working with advised that the case would be closed and after 2 weeks of no response, a case gets archived. So when you finally did get back to us, you responding to a closed case that had been archived meant no one was receiving those messages. It had been over 3 months since you first contacted us before you say you sent the form to us and it had been another 4 months until now when you are following up about it.
I'll be reaching out to you to offer a solution as it's certainly unfair your items were lost in the first place and we were willing to work with you to get a replacement out but we do have a policy in place regarding how long we have to file the claims with the shipping company. We understand your frustrations and hope to be able to work together to get you the items you ordered.
Best,

Hello Angeline,
We're sorry it took so long for your items to come in stock and if there is anything we can do to get the items from the publishers any faster, we would absolutely be doing it. Your quote about 'the backordered book was expected to take 6 weeks' seems inaccurate as we have had no way to provide any kind of estimate for restock dates since COVID started and the supply chain has been so disrupted. Manga demand is at an unprecedented high and publishers are being forced to choose which titles get reprints in order to keep up with their new release schedule as well. We simply don't have expected restock dates for items.
When you reached out at the 5-month mark, you made no mention of wanting to cancel anything and although our policy clearly states we aren't obligated to release a partial shipment if a customer wants to cancel an order, we would never stop that from happening. You said: "I understood when I ordered that those may not ship until the backorders come in so that they could all ship together, but this is ridiculous, I did not expect over 3 months to pass. If I had known this would happen I would have just ordered the backorders and preorders separately. I want my preorders and I want an update on my backorders." There was no request to cancel the order and although 3 months can feel like a long time, we have no control over the publishing schedules to get these items in stock.
As we celebrate our 35th year in business, we just want to point out that if you are able to order an item that is out of stock, that means the publisher has told us that they will print more. We, unfortunately don't always know exactly when that will be but as long as the item isn't listed as out of print, we will receive more.
When we cancelled your order, we issued a refund to you so nothing was stolen.
I hope this clarifies some of the situation.
Regards,
Jake
