Reverberation teaches you how to make money in the music industry: by scamming other musicians into thinking theyre furthering their careers. Their overpriced crowd reviews are either outsourced or automated.
I utilized Reverbnation for several years, I subscribed to a service that allowed larger, better quality uploads of my music, last year 2016, they collected my fee, then told me that the service was no longer available, and that I would nee to upgrade to a more expensive service if I wanted to continue with what I had. I told them I didnt want that and asked for a refund, they refused, to refund my money I paid for a service they would no longer provide. I finally had to file a complaint with paypal to get my money back. One year later, they disabled my account and insisted that I pay the fee they incurred for the chargeback. I finally told them to delete my account after several ridiculous exchanges with them, stay away, it isnt worth it.
I found Maximillian r's review of Reverb Nation and had a similar experience. But in my case, I did not approve ANY recurring charges. I simply bought tickets to my son's show at Reverb. Reverb Nation uses paypal so I simply used paypal (though Reverb Nation) for a one time ticket purchase. BUT Reverb Nation/E Minor continued to charge 3 small charges to my checking account each month. One was like $9.95, and the other 2 were under $10. This happened for 2 years! We never noticed it and because too much time passed our bank would not reinstate our money. SO frustrating. We def. Look at our checking account closer now!
This site is fakety fake. They go nowhere with your money. Pay nothing. Ever. Their charts are phony and anyone who books anything takes no advice from there. I've never gotten anything from them. Buy the IndiBible and make the calls yourself.
Don't bother with Reverb Nation. I believe nothing that they do. I believe they invent opportunities for performers / bands. When I used them (for about 3 years) we reaped absolutely zero from entering into competitions. And sure, perhaps those reading this might think that perhaps our material wasn't good enough, but countless bands in the London area I know who have used RN have said the very same thing. A total waste of time and money. The music industry is the worst possible choice for anybody as we move into 2017. Absolutely ZERO money and quite possibly the most nepotistic industry on earth.
Reverbnation are Thieves Crooks aND will Steal your Money. They promise you that which they can't Deliver. They STOLE my Money. There Fans are FAKE. Their Charts dont mean Anything. And they get Mad when you Leave their Bull$#*! Scam Business. BEWARE DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH REVERBNATION. YOU WILL REGRET IT. BIG TIME CROOKS. THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH REVERBNATION IF YOU ARE SMART. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF YOUR MONEY.
They just Jacked me for $159 because I didn't notice they were charging me WEEKLY instead of Monthly! Don't get Scammed. Called the hotline and was "IN LINE" to be called then transferred to a voice mail that said they would call me back. No call back..
I would have given them a "0" score if there were such a rating on this $#*!ty site. Honestly they're not even worthy of a "0" rating. These welfare whores promise the world and offer absolutely NOTHING in return while they leech your wallet dry. DO NOT USE reverbnation period. They have a longstanding reputation for ripping off artists everywhere and refuse to credit any money they STOLE.
My paypal account recently got to where I could only have a certain amount of money because, weird activity. I canceled my plan recently and they will still bill you. Everytime I submit to any opportunity even though my music is rap and is great I never win any opportunities! I have got told by numerous amounts of people, fans, record companies, and got interviewed by Skilly Magazine cause they liked my music they all always say I'm great and can make it instantly if I would submit to record companies to get signed. But on the Recerbnation opportunities I never win and my local ranking is 2 and the others are great rankings to. So why do they lie? To take your money is why. Need ever submit to reverbnation I am deleting my account and going to just submit to record companies. Bye scammers!
My band had our music on reverbnation for years, decided to get one of those promo packages, all of a sudden our page is gone and account suspended fro fraudulent activity. Ended up spending almost a month trying to get my money back. NEVER USE REVERBNATION! Use bandcamp or Soundcloud.
They have gotten out of hand, it's a for profit site now. Don't waste your money, you can do nothing and do more than they do, except spend your money needlessly! You can build your own website and put it on twitter facebook and youtube and do more for your own music than they ever will... don't waste your time and money...
I've been paying my $9 a month for over a year or so and I submit to a lot of presented opportunities.
I've been given a contract for endless, free use of audio/video studio at Full Sail University in Orlando and got invited to host and perform at Daytonapalooza. I only posted music, bio, and press, gained 150+ fans and I'm not on Facebook or Twitter. I'm not fully aware of what the charts mean, but I've recently had a song be #1local, #2 regionally, #95 nationally and #113 globally, and a different song being listened to by a committee of some sort. I too had a 10 review. Half great, half bad, which is fine by me, cause ya gotta believe or don't bother.
Honestly, a large percentage of the music I hear isn't very good, but there has been a few wonderful artists I've run into.
Music will always be subjective, like clothes and food. ReverbNation, like all contests you PAY to enter will probably not make your career.
The jury's still out, but so far, so good.
I used the website intended to purchase $50 of promotion services and ReverbNation quietly withdrew $250 from my bank account without notification. On July 1st, I made transaction for artist promotion on ReverbNations's website for $49.00 using my debit card. I left for a month to travel internationally.
When I returned, I discovered in my bank statement transactions withdrawn from my bank account July 13th, July 20th, July 27th, and August 3rd-- $49.00 each time. I received NO RECEIPTS via email or notification that the company was withdrawing this money from my account, otherwise, I would have stopped them sooner. I called the company in shock that they were taking money out of my account without my permission. They told me they were unable to refund my money. Their reason was that they spent the money I was giving them by allocating the funds to other advertisers. The best they could do was refund $50 of the $200 they snuck from me. Needless to say, I was outraged. I called my bank and told them of the problem and soon received word that they investigated my report and say the transactions were correct.
I'm sure they gave my bank the same story that they used all the money I gave them and there was nothing they could do about it. I am ENRAGED and DISGUSTED that ReverbNation takes money from customer's accounts without notification of their actions when they occur. I do a lot of business over the internet and NEVER have this problem with other companies. I feel stolen from and will never use ReverbNation services again.
By the way, the $250 of advertising made no impact on my product. So, I paid gold for garbage.
If you don't like ReverbNation and cancel, they will keep billing for years. I have now been trying to cancel for over a year. They cancel, say sorry to see you go, and keep right on billing to the credit card. They say it is cancelled, then bill again. I am annoyed. Apparently, I am going to have to cancel my credit card to get rid of Reverbnation.
Stay away.

Great for musicians just starting out, and they want to at least post their music for free on a website where other musicians can see them and maybe network. Otherwise, the website is almost a scam. You can pour tons of money into the site and never get anywhere. Their "reviews" of your music that you must pay for are a complete waste of time: the reviews are done by mostly teenagers that want their 10 cents for listening to 30 seconds of your songs. Some of the reviews DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE, and are completely off topic (almost looking like a cut and paste job). I'm very disapointed with this site and will be taking my music elsewhere
Why is it that I've been submitting music for at least 2 years to Reverbnation Opportunities and have not received any spots yet? The music I produce is Rap/R&b, most songs mixed & mastered for radio and im not being cocky but I've been told by tons of fans, musicians & promoters that my music is great Quality! So how can good music not get selected after having over 49 submissions? Plus I get the same feedback when not selected, We had to make some hard decisions, Unfortunately you where not selected. For 2 years? GTFOH Reverberation!
I have friends who have used this site to announce their gigs. If you do this with a small venue the owners will be contacted by one of the publishing firms (ascap, bmi) and shaken down for royalty $ even your band does nothing but original music. My friends succeeded only in pissing off the owner of the tiny restaurant they were playing.
Absolutely no positive advantage for any musician songwriter etc. Just a company that want to scam you... You could release a version of twinkle twinkle little star and as long as you checked up on your profile everyday like a good little munchkin they will reward you with a nice ranking that means absolutely jack... t in the real world.
I would like to give zero stars. I allowed them to put my music on iTunes and I've yet to see a dime. I know people have purchased. I cannot even remove the album from iTunes. I've lost who knows how much money. I've tried to reach reverbnation about the matter but no one returns messages. Stay far away.
Yes
RE: Fan and Fan back
I go to my Reverbnation page and get correspondence. All these people have joined fan base and I want to fan them back. I fan them back and get a pop up window that asks questions like others like this artist (I just fanned). Please get rid of that. It's too many key strokes if your trying get through your mail. I just want to get through my mail I don't want that pop up I have to close each time I fan somebody back.
The site does not work well for me because of this and similar things that make it harder to deal with fan mail and what have you. It's better than it used to be but still needs a whole lot of IT work to make things easieer and more interesting.
Both the "Apps I have, I don't think you can even get to your mail.
Anyhow no popups I have to close I don't need that response; 'Thanks for fanning so and so" how bout these artists? BS get rid of it. If I wanted that then I'd ask for that but now while I'm answering mail.

Answer: Stay far far away from this site...
Answer: Another classic example of them playing games with users. It used to be there was no file size not allowed. Then they allowed it but required a monthly fee - via their plans which are a joke - to upload larger higher quality files.
Answer: Only if you want to loose money. They will gladly take your money but you won't see any result from it.
Answer: Good question. I don't think this happens from experience. My first release was with Reverbnation, a single which bafflingly was released as an album for $19.99 or whatever it cost. Possibly my fault, didn't hurt me as an artist though as my 1 album single was on iheartradio, spotify and itunes and many other distributers I wouldn't have picked. I since learned about the $1 singles so have made a few releases with that for reverbnation - I've pulled a few singles on Reverbnation and Tunecore and have never received a refund of any kind, nor would I expect to. Reverbnation do credit the money back if you pull the release pre-distribution I know that. Maybe try routenote, I release a lot with them on there 'free' model they do take a cut of the royalties though on that plan - I like that flexibility though to be able to pull and re-release tracks.
Answer: As the reviews here warn, RN isn't interested in maintaining a reputation for integrity, As long as they get your money, the future be damned.
ReverbNation helps Artists grow lasting careers by introducing them to music industry partners, exposing them to fans, and building innovative tools to promote their success.
