The whole idea is wrong. To pay money, with the hope that these companies might deliver you jobs, which might be real, might be not. Who can tell... We, musicians should all stop this practice by not signing up to any of these sites.
Took an unauthorized payment from my account due to automatic renewal which I did not sign up for. Would not refund and could not get paypal to refund. Accused me of fraud and canceled my account. Funny things is there should be some kind of gain with fraud. I am now out over $100 USD, no reverb account and no refund. Where is my gain? TERRIBLE service!
Don't spend money on "promotion". The only people who go there are other bands!
The free service is good for posting songs for Facebook friends. As for paid services - they adhere to the Levi Strauss paradigm - few prospectors ever find gold, but they all want pants!
Why two stars? Because they let you post low-rez songs online for free. The other three missing stars are for the age-old scam of selling fake hope to the hopeful. No one will ever see your $#*! but your friends and other wannabee success stories.
Curious how many other musicians have had money stolen from Reverbnation.com, and had them ignore you after you've provided the requested proof of the mystery withdrawals from your bank account. These guys stole $600+ and on proof of the discrepancy they've gone completely silent and are no longer responsive.
Does this story sound familiar to any fellow musician friends?
I would rate the service I received subpar at best. In all actuality I feel that not only I, but my band was gypped out of lasting memories because of some fine print in terms of use which essentially translate into legal theft. We purchased a service and canceled said service before renewal, which was well within our rights to do so. However, money was still drafted from an account that was no longer permitted to be used and ended up causing $200+ in overdraft fees. After reaching out to ReverbNation, they said tough luck so we had no choice but to deny the charges with our financial institution. We never heard anything from ReverbNation again. Our page was up, everyone could still see it and purchase songs from it, but we had no access to it. Fast forward 5 years and an attempt to log in to check old statistics and upload some old demos I get an alert that the account is frozen. I make a request to have it unlocked and then get cold stiff "tough luck" again and that our page has been terminated. I am very disappointed in this company, and can never recommend such a shady service to anyone.
I've used their website for 3 years now and I am very impressed by it. I got many contacts with the music industry, A & R representatives, including licensing opportunities in London and Hollywood. I pay only 10 dollars a month, that's the price of 2 cups of coffee. To be honest, I was very skeptical at first.
The site reminds me of Acidplanet. Its pretty easy to set everything up, but from there your on your own. If you can market yourself than you may have better luck. Where do you go from there with it, dont know. I like the updates when your page is viewed or your someone fans you, but that's it. I can say my "fans honestly all care about my music. The crowd review seems off to me. Every reviewer sounded like Simon Cowell from American Idol.
Watch out for reverbnation automatically taking money from your bank account... without notice... and the basic plan went up 20.00 more than last year... they gave me no notice of the upcoming renewal plan and that it had risen from last years price... I don't like the idea of them just getting into your account and renewing you... Of course it's all in the fine print that no one reads... I found out by accident and was pissed off... now I can cancel next years but I only missed by 3 days and of course there's no refund for this year... as far as I'm concerned they can stick it...
If you know how to use the website and have great music and real talent, the sky is the limit with this website, the paid features are more than fair. I have built an opt in email list of over 25 thousand people from reverbnation alone and have met so many amazing connecctions in music, I have honestly lost count.
I'm DJ transaction. Currently ranked #1 on reverbnation Brooklyn electronic music charts. I had a free account with them for like 8 years. I never had to pay my way to the top. I made top ten multiple times and got song plays without trying. I don't think this site is as bad as the reviews below say because I really didn't have to pay my way to the top and I got some opportunities here as well. I'm not paid to say any of this stuff. I perfer SoundCloud anyway but it's a nice site.
They send me a bunch of emails for promotion opportunities, but they all lead to the same page that doesn't work. Fake service taking peoples money and exploiting independent artists.
My account got hacked and then I emailed them about it and they said it was my fault, and then shut down my account and deleted my music without even consulting me about it or batting an eyelid. These people couldn't care at all about the musicians on their site, don't got through then whatever you do. You'll never get any noteable promotion or recognition on that site anyway, only other musicians use it so they are the only ones who will ever become your 'fans'. I 'd be weary of copyright issues also with Reverbnation... if someone stole your music off that site there is nothing you could do about it... they definately wouldn't help you.
Made it to top 100 but they wouldnt credit my account with song plays because i wasnt paying them to climb the charts its all about money and they monitor and control your music if you arent paying tjem they wont count your plays so you can rise in the ranks
Well with all great intentions I hoped Reverbnation seems to be a good opportunity to get my music outlet. Most for local shows and even on a whim submitted a couple of songs to various so called radio stations. Most responses came back "we love your music please contact so & so",,,,, sure,, checked out the internet radio stations the message came from... the music was so so... They even asked me to send a message to get in touch... I did and of course it's more rabbit hole nonsense. Submitted to another radio station same exact response from them word for word,: we love your music please contact so & so ". Same thing another rabbit hole. OK,,,,, I started to get the sense well this is not I'm really being much use. Besides the cost kept rising... to little effect. I even bought an upgraded my package and now start to re-think the value. SO now to the real kicker. I submitted to Reverb- using my name and a band name that doesn't exist to when i do publish a song the name of the band that has been dead for a long time... still comes up. I wanted to change it as it is something that doesn't exist. I tried get info on how i can change the name by contacting support, nothing no response, nada... and i've tried this numerous times. Frankly I don't even think they have customer support. I don't expect much but nothing iS a little less that I hoping for.
I have had an account with Reverbnation for several years. I publish/distribute my music via an annual distribution fee charged to my credit card. It has worked well and consistently since 2014. All of a sudden, they started pulling my music down from the distribution channels (iTunes, Amazon, etc.). Their claim was that they didn't have a valid credit card number for me. They never asked me for a current credit card, expiration date may have changed, and I have been paying like clockwork. I was very upset. Worked to make SURE they had a current credit card number, and I asked them to "put it back up". They said they can't and I'd have to go through the whole registration, etc. again. I said "DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN WITH MY OTHER MUSIC. You have my credit card now!" Sure enough, they took my next publication down when it was renewing--same excuse. I had a fit. When I write to the *******@reverbnation.com, they answer me with some nonsense a few times and then just stop responding. I proactively wrote to them asking to ensure they have my credit card information correct since I have my latest single coming up for renewal in a month. They told me how to check, and there instructions weren't correct. HERE is the kicker though, they charge my credit card EVERY MONTH for my membership fees, but somehow can't connect that with my music distribution fees? WOW! I could go on and on, but they used to be an awesome company with superb customer service. NOW? I can only say horrible things about them. BE WARNED.
My account was blocked. I distinctly cancelled a trial version before the trial was to end. I hadn't been back since the trial version was to submit my music to possible gigs and I got nothing. I toured my new "Active Rock" release through independent booking so there is no question my music wasn't good enough. It's currently spinning on over 5,000 radio station and was on FM stations in Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo last year. They. Claimed I violated their rules. I should have searched out booking agents in the first place then I wouldn't have had this happen. I'm resigned from reverbnation at their request. There are to many outlets to use one that takes advantage of their artists. You can hear my critically acclaimed release on youtube by searching for "Terminal Heat" by John Kaye & The Overlords
Its legit... everybody is not meant for music stop complaining maybe your music isnt good have yall thought about that people on reverbnation listen to people who listen to their music spending money blindly is stupid... do your own promotion first then consider paying for a service of their i had my son on itunes spotify and a number of other spots from reverbnation and even sold copies on itunes and made money from streams from the other sites that reverbnation posted them to im satisfied with their service and will continue to use them
The terms and conditions state "By registering for any ReverbNation service, either a free trial or otherwise, you authorize ReverbNation to bill the payment info that you provided at the time of sign up". And they did just that. I signed up for a free trial and they instantly attempted to charge me. I'd never had a free trial before. I didn't want to pay for their joke of a service so I canceled the account right away. They kept attempting to charge me for more than a week and even sent me multiple emails saying it was canceled due to non payment. I got paid the next week and they charged me. I tried contacting their customer service about it, but the number they have online is disconnected and they never responded to my emails. So I disputed the charge. At which point they deleted my account all together. (Just to have an account is supposed to be free). They told me to contact them so I did and all they did was sent me an email saying chargebacks violate their terms but charging for a free trial is legal. Their service is a joke. The only "audience" it ever brings is within their site. They feed lies to keep the gullible paying them money.
Greetings: To whom it May Concern:
A company without loyalty to its longtime customers and neglects service issues, make it difficult for reciprocal communication cannot survive. I recently paid for 2 campaign promotion for a single track of a scheduled CD release.> the track was to be the cornerstone of my promotional efforts. I paid $49.00 for one promo. And $70.00 for the second one, I quickly discovered the track according to Reverbnation was corrupt only after I discovered the track could not be played on my profile page or the promotion campaign which is ludicrous. After several e-mails, back and forth explaining and re-explaining the track didnt work. They got back to me to inform me the seven-day promo had ended and theyd fix the corrupt track. They posted an announcement that my song Wastin' My Time had charted at #9 in the Bronx NYC's 2nd largest borough. How could this be? I wondered, the track I was promoting could not be heard the entire duration of the promo campaign. I cancelled the 2nd campaign and I will cancel my Reverbnation account if they do not fix and show "Good Faith in their dealings with me as an artist and longtime customer /producer. I will also use my influence to assure that the Federal Trade Commission, Social Media outlets, BBB and New Yorks Local Musicians 802 AFM receive a detailed composite including my story and that of dozens of others posted here that corroborate my experience with Reverbnation.

Answer: Stay far far away from this site...
Answer: Another classic example of them playing games with users. It used to be there was no file size not allowed. Then they allowed it but required a monthly fee - via their plans which are a joke - to upload larger higher quality files.
Answer: Only if you want to loose money. They will gladly take your money but you won't see any result from it.
Answer: Good question. I don't think this happens from experience. My first release was with Reverbnation, a single which bafflingly was released as an album for $19.99 or whatever it cost. Possibly my fault, didn't hurt me as an artist though as my 1 album single was on iheartradio, spotify and itunes and many other distributers I wouldn't have picked. I since learned about the $1 singles so have made a few releases with that for reverbnation - I've pulled a few singles on Reverbnation and Tunecore and have never received a refund of any kind, nor would I expect to. Reverbnation do credit the money back if you pull the release pre-distribution I know that. Maybe try routenote, I release a lot with them on there 'free' model they do take a cut of the royalties though on that plan - I like that flexibility though to be able to pull and re-release tracks.
Answer: As the reviews here warn, RN isn't interested in maintaining a reputation for integrity, As long as they get your money, the future be damned.
