Do not use Remitly. Tried sending a transfer to Pakistan and my Remitly App shows the status as delivered but the recipient has not received any funds. Waste of time and effort. Been trying to contact Remitly and no one has helped yet. Hope to resolve this ASAP
I signed up with this company to have a transfer done on March 30, one week later and the money is no where to be cashed or even found. They charge you premium fees to transfer and they will stall you with all sorts of stupid justifications that their customer service isntrained to tell. One of the worst companies I dealt with. Trying to get your transfer cancelled and your money back is like pulling teeth with these clowns. They should be banned from doing business and fined. I am suing them for waste of my time and my recipient's time.
They charged more for immediate transfer and deposit, but that doesn't happen, plus customer service is horrible, please don't use this service, i never had problems with Xoom, made a mistake using Remitly, never again

ZERO STAR for customer service. I requested to upgrade my limit for money transfer. After answered all requested questions from them and the last step was they required to make a phone call to verify but that number they provided didn't work. Then, I had an online chat with online support team but they were unhelpful at all. I emailed them about the situation and after waiting for few days I finally got the answer that they are unable to upgrade my limit without a reason.
Luckily my friend introduced me TRANSFER WISE that service is perfect and I didn't have to pay any fee for the 1st time transfer referred by friend. Highly Recommended TRANSFER WISE to everybody.

I don't think it can worsen. Promised to transfer money in 15 minutes, it's 3 days, still waiting.
It doesn't make sense why Remitly asking for a second verification. Even you've send so many transfers. Why not ask the first day or ask a passport not a freaking ID! I'm done using this app! Unprofessional, waste of my time.

Joined 1st time seemed straight forward. Then transactions was put on hold no information why. Contact customers service they said that bank of my choice( fir Å iauliai was given 2 choices only) did not deal with euro transactions... Nonsense this was one of the oldest banks in Lithuania "Medicinos bankas" and euro us Lithuanian currency and been for years. This bank wax exchange 80% of world's currency since I knew it 19 yers in my case... they should not offer services that they can not provide.

Do not do business with remitly unless you want to be frustrated. They locked my account almost immediately after opening it for no reason. Customer service is TERRIBLE. They will not help you, will not explain anything to you, and are rude. Please save yourself the grief and take your business elsewhere.

I cancelled a money transfer a month ago and they have not reimbursed my account. I have tried chatting and calling their contact links and still no results.
Having had it up to the gills with all the "we need more info about you", after having given them everything except the size of my manhood (they'd reject that detail, claiming gross exaggeration!), I finally requested they remove my account. THAT is such a relief to me... no more identity theft.
Remitely cancelled my account without warning and without notice. The Customer Protection Team identified 'behavior violating the user agreement' but could not tell me what that behavior might have been. We have been transferring wages to overseas staff since April 2020 due to Covid. No idea what might be different and will never find out - rely on this service at your peril.
Very similar bad experience to the other recent reviewers. We made our first transfer 3 months ago without problems. We tried to make a second transfer 2 days ago and it's been a nightmare. First two attempts with credit card were cancelled without explanation, third attempt from bank account went through but then they kept asking for ID documents (which we sent them) and to call a number. The number was constantly engaged for 24 hours so we tried to access them via the chat. We got into the phone queue, waited there for an hour and a half and were then told that our payment reason was invalid so they were going to cancel the account. I just made the transfer with TransferWise without problem and it was cheaper and better rates than Remitly. Don't use Remitly, their customer service is really bad.
Worse service ever! I should have come across this page before even trying to work with them. Never again. Go use them and regret every bit of it!
EDIT: Changing my review as I have benefited from Remitly. First of all, if you need to contact them, not all the numbers work (especially Australia, maybe this has changed). Call their US numbers instead. If you cancel you will have to wait a couple of days before the money comes back so don't panic.
Remitly needs to improve on: customer service, offering other forms of contact like email instead of only phone calls, better "history" of users... my transfers always land in review which requires 1-2 phone calls before it's good to go, and I am often asked for the same questions/documents I have already provided in the past.
TransferWise is cheaper however they don't do cash, this is where Remitly can be useful and cheaper than Western Union. Although their locations for receiving money are of course less than WU.

After I closed my account with them completely an agent had the nerve to call my phone at 4AM in the morning my time! I got extremely upset and asked him very loudly if he knew what time it was on my end! He had the nerve to say that he's not sure because he's calling me from outside of the USA... NO $#*! SHERLOCK! They are extremely incompetent, rude and extremely dumb to say the very least! They will get a major lawsuit one of these days!
I tried to send money to my friend through this joke of a company. I went through all the hoops they asked if me. They sent a message that it would be an hour for processing. The next day, I got a message saying the transaction was cancelled due to suspicious circumstances. I was also locked out of my account. When I called them they insisted they know more about the reason I wanted to send the money. Who is my recipient? What is our relationship? What is my purpose for sending the money? I said that I am sending money to a friend. Beyond that they have no right to know anything. It's an invasion of privacy. After spending an inordinate amount of time on hold and after speaking with a supervisor, who continued to insist on knowing about my and my friend's private life, he refused to do the one thing that this company does, making it a completely and utterly useless entity with no good reason to exist.
Remitly have withdrawn twice of the same amount for my transaction and claimed it was a bank error not them after I have found out about it.So dissappointing
I don't know what happened to this app, when I started using it I was amazed on the efficient that this app showing. Unfortunately there are no more consistent good service provider this pandemic year. Don't hold the money of the costumer that is a mortal sin. We costumers send money to our love ones becoz they need it. And this money are not just money, it is a bloody hard worked money. Let the costumer understand if needed more identification but NEVER HOLD THE MONEY AND ASK FOR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. And hold it more than 48hrs. And just say normal procedures! Costumers are not stupid so don't let us speak to stupid representative!
The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever. I've been using it for a year using it for many transactions. But recently when I had an issue (I chose Express service, supposed to be Within 4 hours as on their advertising, but turned out 5 days as the Economy service), I tried to called few times to find the answer, they Kept Putting me on Hold for more than 15mins, and when I tried to reach out to them, they just Ignored me so that I would hang up the phone myself. Tried to speak to a supervisor, no news
