Reddit Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from perceived censorship and biased moderation practices. Many users express frustration over account management issues, such as difficulties in deleting accounts and unjust bans, which contribute to a sense of being silenced. While some appreciate the platform's diverse content and sense of community, the overwhelming sentiment is one of disillusionment with the site's environment, described as toxic and unwelcoming. This dichotomy highlights a pressing need for improved moderation transparency and user support to enhance the overall user experience.

I use the site many times in the past, however with the new interface sometimes the videos get hang on my phone (I have a good one). They are making the site worse with every update.
It's a shame because the quality of some subreddits is incredible.

Awful in every way
June 13, 2023

I thought Reddit would be a warm and friendly social platform, sadly I was very much mistaken. I wrote a comment about a pop group and how I didn't approve of some of their songs. The reply I recieved was from someone who obviously shows no consideration for others and quite frankly their remarks were hostile and bad mannered as well as hurtful. I wrote back in the style of Jane Austen. Reddit is the worst social platform I have encountered, I decided to delete my account and glad I did.

Site is garbage, run by an absolute moron. Sucks to suck, it once was a great bastion of information and enjoyable content, no more.

Anti-User Policies
June 10, 2023

Reddit is going out of it's way to actively harm it's user base. They've demonstrated they value nothing but money and will happily introduce harmful policies to achieve greater profits. Their default app is unusable.

Haven for trolls
June 5, 2023

I've been attack on this website for the most insignificant reasons by people. Comments are often clear cut cases of hate, harassment, and going against subreddit guidelines. Yet, it you report individual comments most of the time no action is taken and the comment remains. I once had someone report me as suicidal, which is anything close to true. The moderators of the subreddits are often trolls themselves and mentally unstable. I've been banned from some subreddits for merely having a difference of opinion. So much for freedom of speech. The trolls are masters in social engineering as I've been suspended for merely responding in kind to trolling comments. If you appeal to or write Reddit to explain, they ignore you.

Edit: 10/25/23 - Was just permanently banned after a handful of users this week posted trolling comments to my replies long enough to generate an email to me then deleted the comments right away to delete the evidence. I emailed them calling them out on it and referring to them as "wimps" and "P's". One of the trolls flagged my email, and Reddit banned me for harassment.

Honestly this app is so bad it doesn't even deserve a one star rating. Compared to other things I've rated one star- it's 10x worse.

Pretty much impossible to use. You get punished just for being new. You're locked out of participating in 90% of communities until you get enough "karma." But the only way to get this is by posting or commenting. What do they do? LIMIT YOUR POSTS AND COMMENTS. Just for being new you're limited to being able to leave one comment every ten minutes. Which means if you see something and want to comment- usually you'll be locked out and you either have to sit around and wait for the timer to run out or not comment at all. This also forces you to earn "karma" extremely slowly to the point where it takes weeks to be able to use the app normally. Extremely frustrating for no reason at all. This genuinely deserves a negative rating.

The mods and admins here are a joke and are far too eager to throw down the ban hammer over the stupidest stuff. It's almost impossible not to get banned here at some point for things that are innocent or even helpful. You can even get banned in some subreddits simply for taking part in another subreddit, and then they'll hit you with a "Ban Evasion" IP block when you try to post something, without even knowing what the hell you did.

In my case, in a thread about a Senator sponsoring a completely ridiculous law, I posted their publicly available phone number that I found on the Senators own website so that others in the thread can easily find this and call in to voice their opinion.

This was met with sidewide ban for "Doxxing". Completely ridiculous.

Reddit Stinks

This app is awful. It's basically a place to go bash anything you want to and if your opinion disagrees with the moderators, they ban you. It's awful. Don't bother

Reddit is probably the worst website possible to vote fairly on other people's comments as I experienced. As soon as you vote fairly, you get slapped with a sudden suspension for it to last three days in response to fall under their category of supposedly in me engaging in "vote manipulation?" Which I didn't do any of the sort or whatsoever.

Which brings me to the end conclusion of? I just can't anymore now. #Dead

Sensorship galore
May 19, 2023

The reddit admins love to sensor any opinions that they dont like and paint it as hate. Just because I dont agree with the modern left-leaning agenda doesn't make me a hateful person, hate to break it to you

Reddit is the kind of place where if you write the sentence "Hitler was a Nazi and said he didn't like jews," you will be banned for hate speech. Mods will witch hunt users they don't like permanently banning them. The entire sites viewpoints lean so far left they are bordering on fascism and the amount of anti-American content regurgitating bots is so large that posts from 10 years ago will get dig up on re-posted on a weekly basis.

It is an awful place for discussion if you don't plan on being a parrot for ultra liberal ideology leaving the same 50 or so comments on every post. Can you even call that a discussion?

No.

So terrible
May 19, 2023

It takes 30 minutes to find a specific post even if you search up exactly what the text said. It always bugs you to download the app too even if you already have it.

Questioned a mod and they were extremely rude and then abused their power to shut me up. Then voiced a complaint to reddit and got permanent ban.

I used it frequently for reviews in my area. It was helpful. After months of just looking, I signed up. Compared to twit and fb, it's great and I only had a couple of posts where I was called a name but I didn't report it... reddit allows it and for petty name calling, I left the users alone. It's a massive site and fairly well organized. But like any social media site, there are strange issues. The self-harm reporting, however, is too often used for "revenge" per those who have been reported.

I was reported for possible self-harm and fortunately, that's not true. I received an autobot response from Reddit saying I could respond with DONT (something like that - that would close the case). I was so angry that I explained what happened and found a page on reddit (after I trashed my account) that said people use that "reddit cares" option to get rid of the user. It worked with me and not others. So, I regret deleting my account.

I have political views for maintaining our democratic republic and there's no doubt one of the commenters decided to attack me indirectly.

In anger, due to the outrageous report, I "trashed" my account (I could've stayed on). I just want to caution others about this one feature. Use it with care. It's still a lot more sane than other social media sites.

REDDIT is ok with online harrassment, bullying and personal attacks on others.
The site should be policed sine it allows others to personally attack others and some of the moderators celebrate the bullying

Is a joke...amazing when you make people
Moderators (little power) and they become keyboards gangsters. I was commenting in this forum and many times its the dumbest comments so because its not that serious to me, I often commented "lol", "haha" etc so the little moderator banned me saying I gave no advice and was useless. Wait you are sitting behind a computer and not a real job with benefits, PTO etc and I'm useless? Lol

Fyi... its the community "r/legaladvice"

Corporate Nightmare
April 12, 2023

Ads for scams allowed to proliferate freely, nonfunctional report button that may as well lead to a file shredder, nonfunctional block function that keeps showing me blocked accounts, and default subreddits filled with actual gore loss of life death and similarly horrible nsfw content often without a filter. Bad website only around because of corporate profits.
