There isn't any other place to find all the best designers on one platform.
All the best knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, and tatters share their awesome projects on Ravelry.
I've been a member of Ravelry for eleven years and in all that time I've always been impressed by the great people who run it. They work hard to ensure it is a safe place for everyone. It's the best resource on the internet for patterns, yarns, designers etc and there is so much support on the forums. The creators have been really generous in making this a free-to-use website with low charges for designers but great opportunity for exposure. The search engines are easy to use and help pinpoint what it is you are looking for. I've made many friends through Ravelry, I hope to still be a member in another eleven years!
I've been using and recommending Ravelry for 10 years now. If you need any Knit or crochet patterns, you can find them there. I love having access to others' projects so that I can get ideas. Great designers! Great patterns! Easy to navigate site!
I love Ravelry. They won't allow racists on their website and have a huge collection of patterns for both knitters and crocheters.
Love having all my patterns in one place, it's a good place to find ideas for that special yarn, and great forums for asking questions.
If I can't find what I'm looking for on ravelry, then it doesn't exist. The filters (including everything from fiber type and yarn weight to specific constructions and fits) narrow down searches to help find exactly the right pattern. Purchasing and downloading patters takes seconds, and I can keep track of any adjustments and notes. Those notes can even be shared with other users, alerting them to possible problems and solutions.
Unique worldwide platform for crafters of all walks of life, origin, culture, and abilities. A place for professionals to create, and the novice to learn & grow. A nurturing place for the Artist in all of us.
Ravelry has been my forum of choice when it comes to fiber arts. They have the largest database of patterns available anywhere and their recent policy of zero tolerance for white supremacy is a most welcome one. It's a high five from me!
love this site. i use it for patterns, interacting with other knitters, comparing and indexing my yarn, etc. i'm so proud of the admins for taking a stand against white supremacy and racism.
A great resource for yarn crafters. Patterns, both free and paid, track your projects, keep track of all your patterns, even magazines and books, you can even track your yarn stash!
Best resource for knitters and crocheters! Tons of free patterns, easy to use search features! I am never disappointed!
I have spent hundreds of hours on this site looking tgrough patterns. I have found it to be a wonderful library of knowledge and patterns. I am able to streamline a search and find whatever I want with total ease.
I love Ravelry and recomend it to any knitter and/or crocheter that I know.
I've been with Ravelry since the beginning (2007). I am super proud to be part of a site with such progressive policies. If you are a fiber artist (knitter, crocheter, weaver, spinner, etc) looking for a community which does not tolerate the hate coming out of the Trump administration, Ravelry is the place for you)
Ravelry is the best collection of patterns and people out there. Love their commitment to the fiber arts and to social justice
I downloaded patterns and found them faulty. I had a knitting instructor who used the site and she even stated the pattern was the result of sloppy work. When trying to contact Ravelry, I was met with arrogance. Very unhelpful
I have used Ravelry as a resource many times in the past for patterns and help with patterns. No more. My last post for help regarding an unclear instruction in a pattern I downloaded from the site got three responses that did not answer my question but told me I had not used the right thread. Though I had searched for a thread regarding my particular question prior to posting it, the search engine had not returned any matches and scrolling through the threads did not yield any obvious connections to my particular question, hence my post on a new thread. The general snarkiness - you could almost see the fingers shaking at you - and the lack of helpfulness was a marked departure from the previous helpfulness I'd experienced before. I will not be using this site again for anything.
Most patterns are not done by "accomplished professions" Patterns are not written clear and charts look like a personal drawing more than professional charts.
I've been contemplating deleting my Ravelry account. While the resources are excellent, the site has become a cesspool of politics and overall nastiness. Let me start by saying that I am not American and have no dog in the fight, but I can't fail to see the Trump hate that has seeped into every crevice of the site. The owners certainly play favouritism, often being very rude and unfair to conservatives while allowing the liberals free reign to abuse their political opponents. I just want a fibre craft site to be just that - leave the politics outside please. Worse than the blatant left leaning favouritism, is the way the forums are completely overtaken by the long time regulars who can be absolutely mean. Sure there are nice and helpful regulars, but the negative ones spoil it and turn everything into a confrontation. If you are a Trump hater, you'll feel right at home. If you support him, better stay out of the main forums and stick to the pattern searches. I'm neither a Trump hater nor supporter, I'm just really sick of the fights and the attacks and the way the owners don't stay neutral.
I enjoyed the Ralvery site until I got bullied. I posted a finished knit scarf that I had posted the pattern for previously. So I made the same scarf in a different colour and posted a picture to get some feed back.
There are some wonderful people there but I got remarks like, pattern please? Over and over and so on.
Never again. I've never seen anything like this..
Answer: Ravelry refuses to support bigotry in any form and states so in its TOS. It is a privately owned platform and they are well within their rights. They have absolutely not banned Christians or conservatives, only speech that supports bigots and bigotry.
Answer: Because they are creating a culture of ignorance and hate in the name of politics.
Answer: This has nothing to do with Ravelry. Sockmatician is receiving feedback on a post he wrote and then heavily edited.
Answer: In the notebook section, go to your library. Choose your pattern and there will be a download button. Alternatively, for free patterns, on the main pattern page there will be a link to click to download the pattern or, if it isn't hosted on Ravelry, a link to where you can find the pattern on another website.
Answer: Can you point to any reviews that are actually doing that?
Answer: By email / by downloading it - If you purchase a pattern on Ravelry, it is a digital download.
Answer: How interesting that I answered this question several hours ago, but now *POOF* my answer has magically disappeared. WHICH PROVES MY ASSERTION. This site is helping Ravelry suppress opposing points of view. What that means is, this site is not objective and cannot be trusted for accurate information concerning the businesses that are reviewed.
Answer: I would imagine that it has something to do with Ravelry insisting that their ignorant behavior be defended. Even if that means many will no longer take sitejabber reviews seriously. I mean, how could I? Sitejabber is now guilty of silencing dissenting opinions. Just like Ravelry.
Answer: Laura J., the negative reviews are also objective. They have been posted by real people such as me, reporting real experiences past and present. True assessment of a company needs both sides of the story. If the negative reviews disappear again, it would imply someone from Ravelry is exerting undue influence over SiteJabber. There was mention in an answer to a similar question about some people a "Boycott Ravelry" group using fake names and addresses to post fake reviews. I was not a member of that group, and know some of the people posting reviews since the initial ones were deleted. We are not fake. We speak the truth, whether you want to hear it or not.
