PrepaidZero Reviews Summary

The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with some customers appreciating the prompt delivery and functionality of SIM cards in specific regions, particularly in the U.S. and Europe. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding product reliability, ineffective customer support, and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Many customers reported frustration with non-functional SIM cards, lack of communication from the company, and inadequate assistance when issues arose. Overall, while there are instances of customer satisfaction, the prevalent negative experiences suggest a critical need for improvement in service reliability and customer support responsiveness.

The prepaidzero card miniEurope with 3GB data volume I bought in July 2016 was shipped very fast and basically worked as it should. But the download rates were extremely different from country to country. Worst it was in Switzerland where the card connects to Sunrise provider which normally is downloading very fast over the 4G network in the area I live. The speed was more like 2G! Nearly useless. In Sweden it worked not very good either, around 2-3G depending of the location (never connected over 4G!). Oslo was quiet good and UK was best.
So, prepaidzero should write in their thermes & conditions, that you don't get a full download rate in every country.

We bought a 10Gb Vodafone data SIM for a two month trip through Europe. Normally we buy data SIMs in each country, but with ten countries to cover we went with a Europe-wide SIM, despite the price. The SIM went in a Netgear Mifi unit to serve two iPhones and a laptop. For most of the trip we got 4G coverage.

However, we used the 10 Gb before 30 days and topped up the SIM with another 10Gb/30 days. However, 30 days after the original purchase, the SIM deactivated. We contacted PrepaidZero by phone from Slovenia. There was no quibbling, and a new SIM was shipped by UPS from Amsterdam to our campsite in Slovenia, which took a couple of days to arrive. Plugged the SIM in and we were up and running again.

PrepaidZero seems to be a company that is trying hard to improve. The Vodafone Europe SIM is good. The back office at PrepaidZero ranges from poor to good. The people on the phone are nice. Do not shout at Dutch people - it will reduce the service you get.

I purchased two SIM cards from PrepaidZero for approximately $135 US each to be used by my daughter and me while traveling through Spain. We both own Samsung Galaxy mobile phones we planned to install the SIM cards in. When we arrived in Spain, neither card would work and when I called PrepaidZero Customer service, I was told the sim cards I was shipped were for tablets instead of the smartphones I specified. I was told I could not receive a refund for either card.
I then visited a network store for Orange, a principal mobile network carrier in Europe, similar to Telefonica and Movistar where I purchased a SIM card for 19 EUR (about $20) with 3Gigs of data and 60 minutes of BOTH local and International calling (much more data and calling time than the PerpaidZero SIM card allowed) and a Samsung Galaxy smartphone for 87 EUR. All total, the price I paid for a SIM card and phone that would WORK anywhere in the world was less than the amount I paid PrepaidZero for a SIM card that wouldn't work ANYWHERE. I wish I had read the PerPaidZero reviews before paying them almost $300.
Trust me when I tell you it's extremely easy to purchase a smartphone in any country while in Europe and the store will make sure everything works before you leave there.

We found it to be a fantastic solution while traveling in California.
Our smartphones and table were connected all the time.
Much better than looking for public WiFi that never works!

I bought a prepaid card for the usa. I followed the instructions. When I came in the USA the card was not activated. After one day trying the telephone, I got connected with the phone company and they said that they could activate. I got a phone number but no money and no data or textconnection. In stead of it I got messages that I had to pay money to use it. I mailedt with prepaidzero. To ask what was wrong. This took 2 days. I had to call to get an answer. Costs a lot of money(For me at midnight otherwise they weren't open). At the end sorry we did something wrong, you get your money back. The request to put money on the phone number they wouldn't do that. They were suprised that I was not in the mood to give mij credricardnumber for a card which was activated in for me not clear meanings
At the end 3 days of anger, costs for telephonecalls, no sleep (contact in at night) no phone, no data and higher costs for calling with my old number..

Works fine

We had two sim cards (Vodafone and Mini Euro) which overall had a good coverage and bandwith availability. You'll get a letter from them with the sim card and belonging instructions, so it's easy to get started.

In my experience the sim card for "Mini-Europe" was:
-Easy to use (automatic activation)
-Fast internet browsing
-Good network coverage

Point of more attention is to accept other top up payment methods than just PayPal.
As we had to create a PayPal account to top up the sim card. Our experience with the US sim card from last year is the same as above.

This is junk service. My experience in early 2016 was filled with bad service, unbelievable bad or non-existing communication and a non-working product. Be careful and don't deal with PREPAIDZERO.com!

Update: It's AMAZING. Prepaidzero could answer my review within 15 minutes - but was not able to respond for several times every time I had a support case. (In several occasions).

My answer: there is nothing how you guys can help me anymore. My two US trips have gone wrong already with your SIM card that was not activated and didn't get topped up as per your instructions. I had significant roaming costs because I relied on your product and couldn't use it for days. But this is already over. I am back home and don't need your services any more. And I can only repeat my warning: I cannot recommend at all dealing with this company:

Bad service! Bad communication and bad product. They don't know their own products, sell things in their onlineshops that they have to refund again later. Also they sell "international calling credit" without stating that this is only to be used for Voice-Over-IP-connections. (I don't mind, but it's not professional neither for to name the product "international call credit" without any further remarks in regards to voip-use-only).

2nd update:
This type of answer exactly states how PREPAIDZERO.COM operate. The whole spirit of the "company" (?) is shown how they try to talk themselves out of the situation. Just blame others and explain that everything was an exception. But this is not true: Both in February AND in March there were massive problems in the communication with their customer service. They only replied after a few days after several reminders. Of course they refunded the product for topping up the card. But first they advised that I should buy it, then they didn't answer and finally when I found out that it won't work, yes... they've refunded. All resulting in several days delays in using the card again. But this was just one little part of the WHOLE problem and their non-responsive and non-transparent way of working. Sure there is no intention to provide bad service or sell products that don't work. I am sure about it. But then the whole reselling-things just doesn't work. I can only repeat my experience: I will never work with this company again because I had a terrible experience - twice.

We're sorry to hear about your experience and are wondering what we can do to give you a better experience/feeling/explanation. May I ask you to get in contact with support to see if we can help you?

Update: Mr. Winter, According to our information the sim card was activated by the provider, hence the activation issue was most likely related to something else / temporary disturbance.
Prepaidzero is a reseller of foreign sim cards and our service is always limited because the provider of the foreign sim card offers you the actual service(s). Prepaidzero can not influence certain aspects of the service you're using from the local provider. We're sorry for the inconvenience. And we would like to point out that any unused top ups were refunded a few months ago.

Prepaidzero does not offer WiFi rentals at this time. We only offer a MiFi device which you can buy. May I ask to receive your order number? So we can look at the order you placed. We didn't find any support ticket under your name "Frans" concerning problems with a MiFi device.

Lousy service
October 12, 2015

Be carefull, I thought I bought a T-mobile card at Prepaydzero. When I was in the USA, I had less than half of my journey coverage! Prepaidzero now says I accepted their conditions, so no guarantee at all. I'm very disappointed!

Bad service

The offered coverage from the provider T-Mobile USA can be found on this link:
http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage.html

We also have sim cards from AT&T which might had a better coverage for your trip.
See their coverage map here: http://www.att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html

As Prepaidzero is a sim card reseller we have no influence on the network coverage, and therefor can't guarantee coverage from third parties. This is indeed stated in our terms and conditions. Which we advise to take a look at before ordering.

Company sent me incorrect produc. Totally messed up our trip as a result. Customer services couldn't care less. Offered to repay difference but no apology, no recognition of their incompetence, no acceptance of responsibility. I won't be purchasing anything from them again and nor should you.

Thank you for your comment. After checking your case it seems that we indeed shipped an incorrect product. Our apologize for this. To further comment on your case: the product's data bundle was fully consumed by yourself and we could therefor only repay the difference between the products.

Pretty much OK, only point of improvement is the coverage in national park regions. Might be difficult though, as placing cell masts could effect nature/environment in these areas.

Have used this prepaidzero sim in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.
Network coverage, internet speed were just fine.

I have bought a prepaid sim card for my trip un Australia and i cannot reach the support bu phone or email, i ask to be refund and i did not get answer from the support, i have sent 2 mails when i was un Australia and when i came back in France but still no answer, unbelievable!

I bought a prepaid sim card with 3gb of data for 45 EUR, and when i arrived in Sydney i got a text which said: Sorry that recharge was unsuccessful. Please contact ******* to speak to an agent and note that the maximum plans that can be applied to one account is 12.

I have to spend Time on phone with the local phone company Lebara to credit by myself data credit that were suppose to be credit in advance. I payed 32 EUR to credit 1 gb of data by myself.

This is not acceptable that prepaidzero support or the phone number support dors not answer.

When a service is not due we must be refund.

I get prepaidzero norwegian sim card. I can use internet with smartphone, tablet, PC only for emails, whatsapp, viber... By Google or by direct link, it was never possible to enter any website. I tried to connect to internet, but even with the smartphone where I put the simcard and with all devices I connec t by HOSPOT, I always get same message:
"Are you using your phone as a modem or personnal hotspot? We're sorry but you're currently not allowed to use your phone as a modem or Wi-Fi hotspot while you're in a Fell at Home country, even if your plan allows tethering in the UK or you have a tethering Add-on. To be able to use the internet on your phone again, just turn off your tethering settingsand then switch your phone off and on again".
So I did as the message said, but I was never able to access any website. Only Whatsapp, VIber, Messenger, FB and emails were available. Also it was not possible to make any call to France, only in Norway. I send request by their website there is 5 days ago, and didnt get any answer. Theu closed my request!

Hello!
Please note that some of our sim cards support tethering and some do not.
The message only shows when you use the "tethering/hotspot" option which is not supported with all sim cards. See product summary tab, on the product's page to see if it does.

Of course you can surf to any website, as long as tethering/hotspot is disabled.
There might have been a configuration issue in your device.

What a headache
August 24, 2015

I usually buy sim cards after I arrive in a foreign country and It usually it talks a while before the card is activated. I was attracted to prepaidzero because it works in more than one country and is supposedly active immediately on arrival. Mine didn't work. Through email prepaid zero gave me the number of the carrier to resolve my problem.
The carrier said the sim card I had been given was incompatible with mobile phones. It is supposed to be used in a broadband device. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong. I am not happy. I have asked prepaid zero for a refund. I will write another review to describe how that goes. I am sure there are many happy customers. I am not one of them.

Hello, the purpose of the sim card is to offer mobile internet. Without having to use WiFi. If you can't connect using mobile internet, it's best to contact the provider's customer services number for further investigation.

I got the card pretty fast after my order, everything seemed professional. I specifically asked what the APN settings had to be for data connection and got a quick reply that everything should just work, the sim should configure itself.
I have a brand new 4G mobile router that works very well in Belgium. Despite their assurance I did research a little what the Vodafone APN settings should be just in case, and it was a good thing I did, after arriving in Greece the router made a stable connection to the Vodafone network (I got some Greek SMSes) but did not give any internet, I waited an hour or so thinking it had to be registered or something but nothing, then I entered the APN settings I found myself and hey presto I was on-line sending emails and checking Facebook. So don't trust that it will be plug and play, find the network they use and get the settings for that just in case. Other than that it was a good service and I was happy to have mobile internet even though free wifi was wildly available in Crete

Dear Hugo, thank you for your time writing a review.
The Greek sim cards require apn settings when used with mifi devices only.
We now added these details to our instruction paper.

For smartphones/tablets it is never required to change apn settings (with this sim card)

From the business
