Pogo Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of Pogo reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, largely stemming from perceived declines in game quality and customer service since its acquisition by EA. Users frequently express frustration over technical issues, a lack of engaging content, and aggressive monetization strategies that detract from the gaming experience. While some customers note improvements in customer support responsiveness, these instances are overshadowed by widespread complaints regarding unfair game mechanics and withdrawal difficulties. The general sentiment indicates a strong desire for Pogo to revert to its former model, emphasizing the need for enhanced game enjoyment and user trust.

I use to love Pogo. Now they have taken everything I liked away. My favorite games are gone and more will be gone soon. Customer service is beyond horrific. The new games with their 5 year old cartoon are awful. It's hard to navigate. I was going to quit but Pogo took money from my bank account without any notice or warning. They will not do anything to stop the cheaters (bots) even when dozens of people have complained for years about the same ones over and over. We're losing a lot and they just don't care! They're going to have a mutiny because it's just HORRIBLE!

I cannot go back to a place where the planning and preparation for change was a complete train wreck. Just about everyone I know has left POGO, cancelled memberships and have picked up something else to do. I was a paid subscriber for years, if not a few decades. In my opinion, they wanted to attract a younger set of people and allow the games to be played on mobile devices. But, the crowd that had supported Pogo felt left out and shocked that the place was turned upside down. There WAS plenty of warning - and time - to convert alot of those games to HTML 5. Now, in my opinion, its more like a gambling casino with strict rules. Limited amount of chats. All games that have option for mini purchases to keep them going. That's not my style and that is why they lost me as a member, and probably a lot more as well.

Now you cannot choose to let a player join or not join your table anymore. Pogo puts you with someone sometimes 100 pts below you. If you stand up or leave you automatically lose 10 pts. They need the old style lobby rooms back where you can click on a persons name and see their rating. You need to know if they are someone that has a lot of unfinished games. I used to love it. Played all the time. Now I only play when I am so very bored.

Childlike and Boring!
September 15, 2020

I joined POGO in 2002, played daily for years. They got rid of chat, then the games I enjoyed playing and replaced them with games from the Bigfish website. They are literally made for children! I cancelled my membership. I honestly thought it ws just me until I read other reviews. What a shame nothing like the original Pogo exists anymore!

Long ago Pogo was fantastic, it's barely a shell of what it once was.

I've yet to find a game that isn't controlled or rigged in some fashion... Their slots is the most obvious. Others just freeze up if you are on a winning streak. But slots. They claim it isn't a casino game, yet it's listed under casino games. Most often while wheels are spinning, you can tell it's going to skip over any big payouts, just too obvious. If you should win free spins, it obviously switches screens, something that has worse payouts.

If you ever go to the forums to post your thoughts, you're not allowed to write/post anything negative. You can't be honest... no free speech there. One of their Knoxie moderators will have it deleted before you leave the forum. I will never believe they are volunteers, I believe they are Pogo/EA staffers on patrol.

They say they are family oriented, nothing is farther from the truth. My wife gets hit up 2 to 3 times per day to go into private chats. She does noting to get that treatment. Ya can complain to Pogo/EA sports... they basically tell you to talk to the hands, the eyes ain't reading it. So the pervs & lurkers win again. You can't block them. They keep coming through. Just think. That could be your preteen son or daughter getting hit up.

Pogo just isn't what it once was.

If you really want to play a game against online players... please avoid this site. The game is so easily cheated, and as if that was not enough no ban is put on 'players' who use offensive language against others... I certainly would not let children of mine use this site. And putting * in strategic places would not fool any decent language checker... RUBBISH SITE!

Member for 17 years
August 29, 2020

Used to love POGO. Played every day at least for an hour or two. Can't believe I've been a member for 17 years. It was a fun, safe place to meet and play games with people who just wanted to play. Even those that were very competitive were still fun to play games with. Now, it's full of people saying horrible things to each other. I don't understand using POGO as a format for that kind of anger or rhetoric. It's a game site. I go to play and have fun, now all of a sudden it's like the ugliest parts of social media. People just say horrible things for no reason. I don't know if it's teenagers or just people who feel that on the internet they can say whatever they want because it doesn't feel like you're talking to people. I've renewed my membership automatically even though I don't play as much as I used to. But I won't do it anymore. The last time I complained about being called names because I won a game POGO didn't respond, which is weird because they used to block people who did that. I hope someone got rich selling off my favorite game site. Because whoever is running it now really sucks the joy out of gaming.

Leaving POGO for good
August 25, 2020

Today is my POGO freedom day, where I am leaving a service that I wound up paying more to get very little in return. The original was well designed with a consistent reward system across all games. Now there is a hodgepodge of games, that are graphically better, fall down in my opinion of overall design. Two of which I played had unnecessary functions. For example, where you play Mahjong Safari, you get a popup regarding you to acknowledge when you had an animal pair, Pogo addiction also has unnecessary functions that slow downplay. If the games that were discontinued a majority had licensing fees. What I see is a cash cow which charges more while reducings costs. While EA this is one less cow to milk.

Estafa
July 18, 2020

Repito. Un atraco..

Impossible to use
July 15, 2020

Four of us who are experienced online gamers tried to play Scrabble on Pogo and after a half hour of nonsense... trying multiple ways to connect and play the game after joining up, getting user names. Passwords, etc... we gave up -- and none of us are quitters. This is the WORST game site there is. I wish someone would shut it down so no one has to go through the frustrations we just had.

Used to be...
June 30, 2020

But now they've changed the whole look making it more "kid" stuff. Some of the best games have been retired. Also, games are continually not loading or freezing so you need to restart and lose all your progress. Playing certain games that have challenges - the progress isn't credited. And what the heck are Pogis? It's supposed to be some kind of reward but it's pointless. Maybe it's a kid thing but they're losing the adult players real fast!

Ridiculous
June 20, 2020

I had a membership for years... would not buy a membership now for anything. The new game graphics are horrible... it affects how the game loads. Some of the games i loved are now gone. Also, now they have the daily challenge where one has to play and play to win and now the points are gone, what's the point? Yea, the points didn't really amount to anything, but it was fun to built up the total, now most times i don't even bother to play them.

Pogo sucks
June 17, 2020

You should let all ages play pogo so everyone can enjoy the fun of pogo. I think 6 or 8 should be the minimum and 20 or 40 the maximum.

Giant Ripoff!
June 14, 2020

Pogo used to fun, made friends and lots of games. EA bought them out and it has gone to pieces. They charge you for "gems" that you have to buy and can't possibly win a game without them. There is no longer a chat place when you play games. The games look like they were made for a child... cartoon characters.
To play the good games you have to be a member...$39 year.
Total waste of money. AND there is no way to contact them, no phone number, email, nothing.

I first became a member in 2003 but due to illness (cancer), there was about a year hiatus but renewed by 2004. Changed my email not realizing I'd lose my points but over the years still managed a nice over nearly 27 million points. I have spent thousands on all the upgrade/gems only to watch much of that being given away before it just kinda ended... and then... all those points and work and time playing the games... POOF... gone!
I'm done!
They have turned their so -called new graphics that are designed for a kid and me in my 60's.
"cuse my French...
$#*! YOU EA! For turning a really fun, relaxing game site into another of your tired, over-priced gaming site that I have avoided because there were places like POGO.

No more! I've been a member since 2007 so 13 years. I've taken my auto-renew off and I will no longer subscribe or play on this site once all their on-going changes are complete, sometime this summer. Many games are like moving cards/pieces, etc thru Jello. Others load sometimes, dump you out or freeze in the middle of a game. It used to be a community kind of play where players were able to talk to each other, you could customize your "avatar" which was much more than that. Many, many forms of Mahjong and hidden object games. Worst is that you end up having to buy "gems" to "buy" extras just to finish some of the games if you want to do it in any reasonable time anyhow. One woman posted that she'd tried the same level of one of the games 538 times (she refused to pay extra to win) and still hadn't gotten thru it. No more. This is more like a kiddie-cartoon kind of site now. Graphics used to be geared to adults, now looks more like 4-12 year olds. Really a shame, I'm going to miss Pogo, but it's not worth playing for much longer.
