Neither of us have ever been in debt, always paid bills and taxes on time. 2017 high medical bills not fully covered by insurance for cancer diagnosis required adaptive equipment and wife going to part time to care for stricken husband put us in debt to the IRS we could not possibly pay. After much scrambling as to how to pay debt and realizing it was impossible, we called Platinum Tax Defenders. $900 and 4 months later with help from Geoff Plourde and Sherri Gastelum, we are now out of debt with the IRS and feeling a complete sense of relief! Thank you Platinum Tax Defenders.

Please do not be fooled into using this company to pay off your fed tax debt!
This is a sister agency of Optima Tax Defenders, who I initially contacted. I was informed that since I owed less than $5000, they could not help me & referred me to Platinum Defenders. I explained my situation: I enrolled in a PhD program in Jan 2017 & had no income as I was not working. I explained I worked part of 2017 & expected a tax refund for the first time in years (I usually have to pay). I was told by the intake person that based on the info I provided, they could settle my case in 90 days & they could get the IRS to settle for $50-100 dollars. I thought great & paid their $750 fee, thinking this would save me $ in the long run. From Aug to April 2018, I spoke to no less than 7 people (Ive kept all correspondence) & was told no your refund will NOT be taken. PD scheduled conference calls with me which never occurred & took me away from class. I kept being told that the IRS accepted lowering my tax debt but PD was waiting on the official letter from the IRS. This went on for 7 months. The IRS ended up taking all of my refund & I am still left with a balance. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I then received an email from a third party, US Corporate- Mr. Carl Tartt who told me he would refund me 1/2 the fee since PD dropped the ball on making scheduled conference calls if I retracted my BBB complaint. He emailed me the next day removing his offer because he found out the BBB will not retract complaints (this is now in arbitration). So, I still owe a balance to the IRS & am out $750 with nothing to show for it.
A lot of misrepresentation and my questions were very goal directed, e.g. will the IRS settle? Will they take my refund? I would not have paid them if they answered honestly. For PD to talk to the IRS, a POA is required. I was told I signed a form that nothing is guaranteed. This is how they get out of being sued. THIS IS A SCAM!

This company is incredible I can name numerous people I can prove records a phone conversations that I have made without any response stay away from this company they are an absolute joke they will take your money and run they will make false accusations they will legally lie steal and cheat you out of your good hard-earned money they say they contact you they do not if you would like proof I have tried to work with this company for over a year to solve claims they said they can solve and they cannot this company has costed me thousands of dollars more then what I have paid them to do everyone in the company should be ashamed of themselves but for some reason to take pride in what they do to be specific I have left several voicemails over the past several weeks to speak with mr. Robert Stevens I have spoken with him one time and that is it and he said he would give me a refund since it has been so long and a lot of miscommunication on their end if I remove the post from Google in my wife remove the post from Google just so they don't have bad reviews online a warning to all do not use this company they're not in any way shape or form looking out for your best interest my wife has posted reviews for this company in mr. Stevens responded of a copy and paste that he responded to the Better Business Bureau which is not true and I almost guarantee and willing to bet that he will copy and paste the same on this review

There is a reason this company has so many negative reviews. Do your research first! Platinum Tax Defenders is a complete waste of money and time. Their staff is unprofessional and rude. If you request any proof of work or follow up, they cut off all communication. Once you have made your initial payments for their service this company acts like they don't even know you, won't return your calls or emails, etc. Your better off putting you money in a pile and lighting it on fire. At least then you'll know where it went.

Platinum Tax Defenders is the one and only professional tax defense representation company that I would ever use or refer to others. It took a couple of years because the IRS dragged it's feet every step of the way during my OiC case progression, but ultimately, Platinum Tax Defenders got my case settled, and the fees I paid them were well worth it. The owner Sherri is one of the most gracious and kind people I've ever met and we always looking to refer people to her company...
