Open table sells your info
July 29, 2021

Don't use this, immediately sold my email to Kriss Berg, who's been bombing me with CBD emails. Total scam has no place in my life

Open tables reward points are pretty meager as is, but it's truly pathetic and shortsighted that reward point balances of their members were forfeited during pandemic. I don't understand why no one within the company had the foresight to automatically extend reward points for the users. Also, notoriously difficult to contact non-existent customer service. It doesn't seem like they care or even try to take care of their user. As a nearly 10 year user of their app, I'll be less inclined to use it in the future. I'd rather save my favorite restaurants the related fee they have to pay to open table.

Keep Your Promises
July 7, 2021

I had accumulated more than 20,000 points on Opentable. I couldn't use them during COVID and they let them expire. I wrote to them and they promised they would reinstate them -- said they were doing that for many people who requested that for the same reason -- and they have not done it. I have written to them to compain 5 times now, without response. It's, of course, not so much about the value of the points -- it's really not a great system and not worth that much -- but is the principle of tellng the truth and doing what you say you will do. Sad.

Brunch at THE LOVE. Excellent!
July 6, 2021

BRUNCH: I asked my server Jenna if either the buttermilk biscuits or the scones were worth the carb count and she gleamed when recommending the Lemon-Lavender Scones. She was filled with warmth when it came to advice. The assembly of lemon curd with a creamy whip and blueberries was an expected winner. What I didn't expect was the perfect warm temp from the oven, the delicate crunch outside and the flaky tenderness inside with each bite. Being small, they could have been either too "done" (like lavender rocks) or not done enough, remaining doughy inside. Not so here; the flavor, temp and texture were superb from first bite to last aided by their small size. Jenna said, "I love to start brunch with something a little sweet." She's right. Brunch is such a home-y, comfy meal that you should start off by tasting "the love." The Fruit and Berry Bowl featured fresh fruit that wasn't drowned in yoghurt. Balance was achieved. You could draw some of the rich, slightly tangy yoghurt with each bite of fruit since it was dolloped around the dish, not mounded beneath. And the toasted almonds gave just the right nutty texture and crunch. The portion size was perfect- not too much, not too little. The best thing was that everything was worth eating. How many times do you see a fruit bowl and dread the lurking honeydew? That melon is often downright nasty- creating a "honey, don't" moment for being over-ripe to the point that it can't hold a cube shape, or so under-ripe that it's colorless, tasteless and tough. Mystery Fruit. Each piece of melon here was delicious in this dish! Again, somebody "back of the house" cared. It didn't come to me because it should have been OK; someone determined it was worth serving. The place was packed on July 4that 12:30 and I arrived a bit early. So it took a little while for my eggs to arrive. But just as soon as I started to wonder about that, Jenna appeared to say that she was keeping her eye out for me since the eggs were taking longer than expected. That simple gesture showed that my server cared. The Posh Brunch provided a nice mix of "upscale" and "down-home." The eggs were luscious. They were also perfectly hot, right from the kitchen. How often do you wait for eggs and when they finally arrive, you can't even eat them for being stone cold? These eggs were worth the wait in every respect- deftly flavored with a musky-woodsy scent of truffle that wasn't overdone, and light as a cloud in a soft curd; not so soft as to be French (like loose polenta) nor too tight either. They were right for a Soul-Food vibe. And the portion size was appropriate. That said, I could have gone for about a tablespoon or two more of the eggs. The spinach (tasty) was a bit lost below, particularly due to the abundance of lettuce with vinaigrette that created the most volume on the plate. The simple roasted potatoes were welcome. I mused that the simplicity of all the veg allowed the truffled eggs to shine. That said, I might have wished for a more upscale treatment of the potato…Something like a hot potato salad with celery, scallions, bacon in a warm bacon-red wine vinaigrette would have added another luscious element with the eggs. With an opening mimosa and a specialized drink I requested for my eggs, I had a terrific meal. I wanted a tomato juice drink but hate those ‘frat boy' Bloody Marys that dare you to imbibe as many Scoville units as possible before calling the paramedics. The bar tender created a lovely tomato and muddled cucumber vodka cocktail for me with a fragrant bouquet of fresh basil on top. It was as insightful as the fare it accompanied. Fine Food, Fantastic Service. Go!

Very poor customer service
July 3, 2021

This site makes it easier to make reservations that you would make anyway. But by making it easier, they do draw customers to restaurants on their site. They should at least offer decent support to their users BUT THEY DO NOT. I cashed in points and was supposed to get a giftcard, but it never arrived. Good luck trying to contact their site to followup. They do offer a chat option (I waited for an hour in the queue then got cut off.) There is no way to email them. They really suck.

Open table cheats on their reviews
June 10, 2021

We had a subpar experience at wildfire restaurant. After our dinner open table sent us a review request email. We shared our thoughts and felt our dinner and experience warranted the 1 star rating. We checked today to see if wildfire replied and found Open Table edited our review and gave the restaurant 4 stars. Total BS. If reviews are not honest they have no value. Sad.

La ks Personal Relationship
June 6, 2021

Open Table is fine for people who live life like an "algorithm "... most people don't. Attempt to explain a particular restaurant reservation or change on Open Table is not an easy task! I notice that restaurants are allocating an amount of time you can use a table... this really is not acceptable. Open Table promote this table "allocation time" because it facilitates it's time schedule "algorithms". Restaurants using OpenTable exclusively have now lost the capacity to have a personal relationship with their clients. I have noticed that OpenTable links within restaurants websites are becoming the only way to reserve a table. Not all restaurant tables are equal, table preferences are no longer easily accessible to restaurant customers. I seriously will no longer use OpenTable... if I can't book direct with the restaurants, forget it.

I found you CANNOT TRUST Opentable.
June 2, 2021

They confirmed my Tuesday reservation at La Mia Cucina (one of the best restaurants in Pacific Grove, Ca.), but at the door it is clearly and permanently painted on the door that they are only open Wednesday through Sunday! Thanks a lot! We were left in a pinch trying to find anther restaurant that didn't need reservations or didn't have a long wait. Can't trust them. Learned my lesson. Never will again.

Do not use open table!
May 10, 2021

The last 12 times a restaurant's website has directed me to OpenTable for reservations, OT has said the nearest reservation for my time slot is 3 days from when I requested or worse. I then called the actual restaurants and got the exact reservation I was looking for, and there were usually lots of open tables at those times.

OpenTable is NOT user-friendly! Unlike many other companies offering refunds or pending policies about penalties, etc. OT did NOT do that. Instead, while we were trapped at home by COVID lockdowns, and restaurants were closed within even several hours driving distance, OT decided to delete the points in our account! We wrote to them, but they completely ignored our emails & decided to still delete our points! So if you use them for points – BEWARE! Use the Internet search engines to find good places in your area. There you will find MANY MORE REVIEWS – and NOT have to worry about booking through services such as OT.

They have lost 10-20 reservations by this $#*!ty inability to answer/solve a customer problem

Open Table Has No Customer Support
April 26, 2021

You cannot reach anyone if you have a problem. Years ago they actually would email back and forth to solve issues. Now they have a useless FAQ system, no phone support and they tell you to live chat but "no one is available. Try back later". This is infuriating.

1. Half of the 1,500 reservations I have made I have received no credit for.
2. The reservations you do get credit for expire.
3. When you get a reward card, it is almost impossible to use.
4. When you have a question about the above three issues, there is no way to get ahold of OpenTableSucks.com. I have been in a chat queue now for more than 90 minutes. What a f******** joke!

So much for being a VIP member. Some Stanford junior needs to disrupt the *uck out of this sad, fat bureaucracy. OpenTable is the 1970s ATT of apps.

I generally like the OpenTable app. It is very convenient. But I am very unhappy with the company,

Over the years I'd built up about 15,000 points. I tried redeeming them in recent months- they were worth about $100 presumably against a dinner at an OpenTable restaurant. The redemption request never worked- after selecting the right choices on the web site I was supposed to get an email telling me how to cash in. That never happened even though I checked spam folders and the like. I wrote customer service and they sent me a form email on 3/25 telling me how to do what I had already done. Now it turns out that over 10,000 of those points expired on 4/7. This feels to me like they make it hard to redeem points in order to avoid the costs of doing so. I am very disappointed after being such a good customer of theirs for many years.

I just spent $500 for a nice dinner in Atlanta with friends. This was a restaurant that is well respected but has 2-locations in Atlanta. Had originally made reservation. In southern location, but when friends decided to join us - northern location was much more convenient for them. Cancelled online thru Open Table original reservation & made reservation in Northern location. Had great time until I got home. Literally within 30 min of each - got 2-emails. One was Thank you & asking for feedback (normal). The other was this

OpenTable

"We missed you at Rumi's Kitchen - Sandy Springs. It seems you did not honor your reservation on Friday, March 19,2021 at 6:30 pm. You have now exceeded the number of no-shows we allow. As a result, your OpenTable account has been suspended"

I am incredibly offended! I spend hundreds of not thousands of $$$ per month on personal & business entertainment. The fact that this app would send me something this offensive given their massive failure - causes me to go out of my way both to never make reservations this way or using this app again (how arrogant can you get?) - but also make me to take pause to avoid restaurants that choose to subscribe to this App! Google us bad - this is a great example of the arrogance & incompetence of this Company & why people should take back their lives from stupid & incapable companies like Open Table & Google!
