Totally frustrated by chat line customer service. It only has a list of pat answers which do not match up with my problem of non functioning reward card. I long for the days they had effective customer service withlive personelle.

Great Italian Food
March 11, 2022

Just had dinner at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse with my family... it's the BEST Italian food in the Woodlands... the attention to detail was superb... the manager Francesca and the owner were very attentive to their guests and the service was amazing... I highly recommend dinner there... Chef Joe Vargyas

I used to love Opentable...
March 5, 2022

I used to love Opentable. Not so much anymore. They have some sense that they offer such critical services that it requires each login to be done via verification code. Not just to your phone -- oh no -- first to your phone, then to your email. Because we ALL have time to deal with that.

I have been an Opentable customer for many years, using it for both personal and corporate reservations. While it's nice to be able to have a one-stop-shop to source venues, the inventory has gone down, there are too many limits to group sizes for reservations, and again with the ridiculous verification codes. I usually have to pair my searches with Google, Yelp, and Resy. Hoping Opentable can get things back in shape like in its glory days, but for now it seems like the glory days are behind them.

Open table is awful.
February 11, 2022

I made a reservation and then had to amend the reservation. Thinking (logically) that their algorithm would stay on the same date. Making a reservation a month out. Well it didn't. It changed the reservation for a week later and there was NO notice that it's a different date. Couldn't get into the restaurant (Olive B's Big Sky, MT) for the special occasion because they are booked up. So frustrating and NOT the first time Open Table as SCREWED up a reservation for me. I contacted the manager at the restaurant who also stated the OpenTable has cancelled reservations that they had confirmed. She suggested contacting OpenTable. There is NO way to send a message regarding this issue to OpenTable. What gives? I'll call restaurants directly. No need for a useless, ineffective middleman.

Every time I go to use OpenTable, I go away frustrated. There NEVER seems to be a reservation available and I just give up and go to a restaurant that will make my reservation directly.

Use Open Table At Your Own Risk
January 28, 2022

There is now no way to call OpenTable Customer Service anymore; you can only use their chat function, which has long queues and often disconnects on its own before resolving a problem. Remarkably, there is no way to change your email address to replace an old address without setting up a new account and merging the two accounts, which will cancel all your pending reservations and make your dining history inaccessible. This makes no sense at all. Clearly, they don't care at all about inconveniencing their customers. Tell your favorite restaurants to use a different reservation service!

OpenTable used to send me certificates to redeem at restaurants. Now I can't figure out how to redeem my $200 dining reward. They sent me an email telling me to book a table through the link in the email in order to redeem. I did as instructed but did not get any confirmation that I would be using the dining reward at the restaurant I booked. I called the restaurant, and they said there was no dining reward noted in my reservation. My only recourse to get help from OpenTable was through "Live Chat" on their website. After waiting for 30 minutes, I got kicked off the Live Chat. I queued up again and was kicked off after 40 minutes of waiting. I found a phone number that also redirected me to the Live Chat for help. I replied to the "dining reward" email, and it bounced back. It appears that there really is no way for diners like me to 1) contact customer service at opentable.com and 2) to redeem my dining reward. What a colossal waste of time!

Awful site
January 4, 2022

I used Open Table because a restaurant I like suggested them from their website. I was disappointed with Open Table site from the beginning. I will not use them again. Just call the restaurant. I removed the app. I marked emails from the as spam. I unsubscribed from the emails. Weeks later I still get emails from them fortunately Yahoo for once honored my request to send the emails to spam but they won't block the site. If a site can add my email address in seconds it should have the capacity to remove same email in seconds. I have reported the company to the restaurant. I now just call the restaurant directly.

Worst Booking App Ever
December 27, 2021

This app is the most UN user-friendly app I have ever experienced. It cancelled all of my reservation (I was forced to make 3 to accommodate our party of 10) and would not allow me to contact them. I tried to adjust it on the website, but the reservations didn't exist despite having both email confirmations as well as texts?! Tried contacting them by phone and after being on hold for more than 45 mins, moving from #6 in the queue to #3, it then said that there was an issue and I would have to try again later.
Restaurants must surely be losing business by using this app.

Reviews are blocked on OpenTable
December 21, 2021

I have written a 5 star review on a restaurant, it was accepted immediately. The next day I had a bad experience at a restaurant rated very high on OpenTable. I didn't understand. I wrote my review and gave the restaurant what they deserved: 2 stars. It didn't get published on OpenTable. I thought it was a mistake and wrote it again. It was blocked again. Apparently the restaurants must be paying them money not to allow bad reviews to be published. I will never use them again. Fake reviews, fake business.,

Worst/Most Expensive Dinner
December 9, 2021

My wife and I just ate at Bob's Steak and Chop House in Plano, TX to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. It was probably the worst/most expensive meal that my wife and I ever had. The "Prime Ribeye" steak, that I was served, was the "driest" medium rare steak that I ever had, the creamed corn we were served tasted like it was made with too much flour and it had a sweet, vanilla-like flavor (compared to Lawry's creamed corn, which is delicious), the dessert we had (free gratis) was a sample taste of double chocolate cake, cheesecake and spice cake, all of which were either too dry and/or quite bland tasting.

They cheated me out of my points
December 4, 2021

I had accumulated 2000 points, enough for a food credit at a restaurant, but because of the pandemic, I couldn't go to a restaurant to use them. Then when restaurants reopened last March I tried to use them but they had expired in February, the previous month, after the pandemic year. They have a mechanism to write to them if you have a problem with the points, and I wrote about this problem, asking them to reinstate the points that had just expired, and they only expired because I couldn't use them due to the pandemic. You would think they would automatically extend everyone's points a month or two due to the pandemic, or notify everyone whose points are about to expire so they can use them. No. Plus, they didn't write back to say they wouldn't extend the expiration date or why. That's bad faith and bad business.

Scam type behavior
October 10, 2021

My password stopped working randomly. I was prompted to reset it multiple times, which would never work. I never had the time to sit down & try to deal with it with customer service until today.
Apparently the problem is that my account was deactivated for too many no shows... except I NEVER NO SHOWED! The weird part is that I only made 7 reservations over the course of a few years, so pretty easy to keep track of, especially since I have timestamped photos I posted on social media for the exact reservations I made. Ludicrous that they would attempt to say I no showed! But also, apparently my account was deactivated in 2016? I have a reservation from 2018 that I made & kept.

So today, after resetting my password unsuccessfully 4 times in a row (never once did it say it was deactivated, call X number, email support, etc... just always that the password didn't match the account) and trying to make an entirely new account with the email in question, I tried to get in touch with customer service.

No phone CS, just chat. The phone chain hangs up on you after telling you to use online chat. Ok whatever- that's fine. So I start chatting & the rep tells me this nonsense, & that "as a 1 time courtesy" he will reopen my account, but can't do it until the team comes in on Monday.

Mind boggling. I'm not into conspiracies, but the only reason I can think of for all this is to shortchange people from getting their diner points or maybe so the restaurants don't have to pay OT for the reservations. I don't know. Then suddenly the chat stopped going through, despite me having full internet access, wifi, etc. I sent emails & texts at this time, so inexplicable why OT chats wouldn't go through.

Just annoying all around. They're making money off their diners under the guise of diner benefits, but really there's no true way to monitor what they're doing with your information & reservations. Even with photo proof of keeping the reservations, & there being a maximum of 7 reservations over a few years, & the account "deactivation" taking place over 5 years ago, they still won't fix it. Crazy.

It's not like I need this to survive in life, but it's wild that all this happened & I didn't even know about it. If my account worked properly, I would've had at least 25 other reservations made (AND KEPT) to get the diner points. So they basically just sell my information, email address, etc & I get nothing in return.

Do not trust Open Table reviews.
September 19, 2021

If you try to leave a poor review, the restaurant merely has to claim your reservation was canceled. Then, you cannot possibly leave a review. I have repeatedly tried to get in touch with Open Table, but customer service has never responded.

Piss on these guys. Asking for my private medical information to forward onto third parties? Hell no. Open Table, let's see all of your HPV vaccine statuses. Feel uncomfortable? It should because it's none of anyone's business. HPV kills tons of people. How about your HSV1 and HSV2 status? Contagious diseases. Chicken Pox? Cytomeglovirus, Epstein Barr? Let's see everyone's Hepatitis vaccines while we are at it. Piss on you turds for asking. I'll never use your service again.

This site/app never works it's ridiculous
August 26, 2021

I deleted it. I'd rather walk across an ocean of glass than ever us that site/app ever again. I can't reset my password, make any bookings, etc. Mind you during COVID they had more than enough time to improve but it's the same thing again and again. If you live in NYC and need a better app then just use Resy.
