Have met new neighbors, gotten excellent recommendations for local businesses, kept up with what is happening in my town.
Enjoy keeping up with comunity and seeing sales
And hearing Neighgorhood comments on events
I have been trying to list in Realastate apartments for rent but have been unable
So many possible uses. Buy, sell items, crime information, referrals and recommendations, lost dogs or cats, great way to communicate.
Most of the time the information shared is very helpful. I really enjoy being up to date on traffic, weather, safety issues, construction, etc. I would prefer not to read postings where people are bickering back and forth and won't let the subject end. I think they should be forced to use direct or private messaging and leave the rest of us out of the loop. Thank you.
ND makes it easy to live life in your neighborhood on a more personal level--make friends, hire contractors, air gripes/offer praise, find missing pets, sell stuff/buy stuff, and stay on top of potential crimes or suspicious individuals. It's a little heartbeat of my neighbors that I can access anytime. Love it!
I've successfully used Nextdoor Felida for several years now and it's been an important part of my life, I've recommended it to many people. Lately it has been different and very difficult to use to the point of me considering dropping it all together. Also, there does not seem to be monitoring of this site anymore.
That makes me sad. I miss the old easy to use and informative Nextdoor. PLEASE go back to that.
First off, I'm very grateful for Nextdoor. With regards to the recommendations, good tips, things for sale. Being notified of the latest going on in our city Costa Mesa. Lost and found. Especially seeing all
The neighbors pulling together to find missing Pets. What I can't stand is when people start taking the whole purpose of a post and taking it out of context and then bickering back and forth on Nextdoor then a whole bunch of people will chime in. Then it becomes a name calling thread that drives me crazy and it's usually the same few people.
Next Door is my go to place when I need recommendations on anything. It's always good to have a personal recommendation from someone.
I find many of the posts informative. It's disconcerting that the posts often take a detour when people post irrelevant or unkind remarks. Some are downright bizarre and troll-like.
Overall, I've enjoyed reading comments from others in the area; unfortunately some use language and post political opinions which don't belong here. I don't care for the recent changes which make it harder to read comments and which seem to let topics discussed linger for a while after a 'last' post. Also, the 'for sale' section shows pictures with articles which are nearly impossible to recognize; names of items would be more helpful! Again, the recent changes disappoint me.
Hi, overall, it's ok Andi. I don't like that posts get deleted. I can understand obvious mean posts but most of the time something is deleted, it doesn't seem controversial. I hate that I can't renew my classified ad each week to keep it fresh. Craig's list allows this. Actually, classifieds are only good for 1 week unless you renew it with the link they send when it's posted. So I do use Craig's list more to sell my things. Also, I feel like I should be able to join other neighborhoods besides mine. Also, Sometimes it's really hard to find older posts. The search engine isn't great. What I do like is the connection I feel to my town. I have learned so much about my town through NextDoor. Thx
Since moving here, Nextdoor has helped me learn about the area I now live in: the neighborhoods; friendly and helpful neighbors; as well as useful recommendations; getting the word out on lost pets; and a heads up on crime in the area. All conveniently in one spot!
Being able to travel a great deal and still keep up with all the happenings here on Tierra Verde. It's wonderful.
For the most part, quality information passed along. Every so often, a great debate starts and never ends... the beauty of forums and threads, you can easily just shut it down. But with quality and pertinent information on respective neighborhoods, I think Nextdoor is a much needed site and should be in each and every neighborhood, no matter how small. Thank you!
I think that the site is terrific for sharing issues neighbors need/want to know, ie stranger/danger issues, lost pets, local concerns. I do not like the recent issues around begging for money or political opinions. Those should be reserved for GoFundMe or Facebook or another site.
I enjoy being able to see & hear of all the actitivy.
Otherwise probably I would not have know about.
Pets, advice, criminal activity.
Nextdoor has been great for finding services, sales, free items & connexciting with my neighbors! I have recommended it too many people:-)
I have been a member of Nextdoor.com for several years for my neighborhood. I find it very informative and interesting in that it is a platform for community activity both good and not so good. It keeps neighbors informed.
For the most part, this site is great for sharing important and /or useful information. Unfortunately, there are always a few bad seeds: name calling, and disagreements are threaded throughout. I see no way to enforce a system to make our neighbors stay courteous and respectful.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
