I like the website and being able to post things for sale locally. There are also events and other things I read about going on around me.
We have a need for a place for these: Babysitting, Pet Sitting, House Cleaning and Handyman. Folks need these services. Please consider.
My Daughter started a business, how put company information on nextdoor? I find out information and get talk to other people about different subjects.
Love Nextdoor. Use it all the time. This is a great tool for anyone to use with ease and keep up with bad and good things going on around us. We also use it to help locate pets and/their owners.
There are a few people who jump in to every conversation with aggressive negative responses. I hesitate to post for fear of becoming a target. I would like to see an option to "flag" these people and give them a "time out" for bad behavior. This shouldn't be a forum that allows name calling and shaming. I will stop using Nextdoor if this isn't brought under control
I love this site. And the APP. It's easy and a great way to connect with neighbors. I love the recommendations on services and restaurants.
Nextdoor is the heartbeat of our community. I find out what big and small problems are, hear a range of opinions, people aren't afraid to identify themselves and therefore are open to be recognized on the street. I've accessed garage sales, events, bought things and had them repaired through Nextdoor.
We use Nextdoor to provide honest reviews on restaurants and businesses. Also keeps us informed on what is happening in our development and surrounding neighborhoods.
Nextdoor provides a venue in which information is readily available and community discussions can take place.
Nextdoor is a great idea and it is currently my favorite social media. The leads, however have turned off some participants to where they delete nextdoor. We have had unfair deletions and one lead who harassed me in PMs, I complained to corporate and that lead is still not tolerant of dissenting opinion and dissuades neighbors from using sponsored services, which I find ungrateful. But the problems with management has not stopped me and I remain a loyal nextdoor participant.
Excellent for finding lost animals and warnings about the location of coyotes.
Excellent for informing us about local crimes.
Terrible for angry people who should be on meds.
Terrible for those who feel the need to express their political beliefs.
Terrible for those who put down others.
Perhaps some rules for use could be implemented more strongly with those who break the rules losing the privilege of the site.
I like Nextdoor. It gives me the feel of being a closer part of my neighborhood and community. The sharing of news, opinions and information make it a cross between the old town newspaper (with an editorial page for opinions, of course) a town hall and maybe a garage sale!
Finds lost pets, finds lost packages, makes us aware of break-ins and other issues, good place to get recommendations.
I'm pretty busy so don't have time to read everything on "Nextdoor," but I do find it informative and covering a lot of various topics. The stuff about crimes, carprowls, package snatching, etc., does make me much more scared than I used to be, but I guess I'd rather have a good reason to be extra-careful than not. Can't think of how Nextdoor could be improved; it is what it is...!
I think, for the most part, Nextdoor is a decent platform. I enjoy the posts related to the welfare of animals and pets. I also think people use it as a platform to argue and say snarky comments back and forth. I do not enjoy that side of Nextdoor.
I use the site to stay up to date on issues/happenings in my area.
Also, if I'm searching for a service provider, I always check nextdoor first.
I read the updates daily for my neighborhood. Sometimes the names of the neighborhood areas are confusing as to location. Otherwise like this as a resource for local news/concerns/safety/items for sale.
As a lead for many years, I am a regular user of ND, although my posts are limited. I have had an overall positive experience with my neighbors (and Steve Wymer lives in my neighborhood and I have worked with him exploring law enforcement liaison opportunities). I have used ND at least twice to solve thefts in our neighborhood, and worked closely with staff on package, thefts last year, connecting The San Jose PD to victims of theft, for placement of dummy packages. We successfully interrupted one serial theft series.
I've topped 700 invites and regularly try to engage more people to join.
I get tired of the negativity, as we all do, that seem to creep into threads but believe the flagging/review process is effective (and frankly takes it off our/leads' backs)
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
