I don't have a specific experience, however I think Nextdoor is a wonderful source of information and "alerts" to all things local.
It is a good way to keep in touch with neighbors but as with all social media it's hard to filter out those bad seeds. Being able to report about those bad seeds is a great way to keep the site going in a positive direction.
Excellent and fast about our city news!
Love all the recommendations. Like to buy and sell local, so far it works for me very well.
I enjoy checking in to Neighborhood.com to find out what is going on in the town that I live in and even in my own neighborhood. It gives you a feeling of security that we're watching out for one another.
Good place to post if you've got something for sale or just to post that you are looking for that special item or to have something around or on your property that needs to be fixed.
Also a great place to post if you have a run away pet so it can be identified and returned to its home. I really enjoy this site!
This is a great tool to disperse information in real time to our community. I've used this forum multiple times.
There are many reasons to use Nextdoorfrom lost pets to reporting suspicious activity to coordinating Neighborhood Watch. App functions well.
I have met 6 new friends through the Nextdoor App. We have a new book group and Pickleball group.
I also appreciate the updates about what's going on in my neighborhood.
I like the fact that I can ask questions, request suggestions, offer free items, etc. to people in my area.
The most useful things about next door are the safety posts (regarding break-ins, dangerous people, etc) because it alerts everyone to trends, the lost pets posts (I found my dog within an hour, even though she was more than 2 miles from home and I've helped to return several pets), and the posts about local happenings.
Next Door keeps the neighborhood connected and apprised of what's happening in our community. A good way of keeping up to date with your surroundings.
Nextdoor provides a great service... it's nice to be able to keep up on what's going on around the area.
I like hearing things going on in the neighborhoods - good and bad -- helps us all. I've been helped by neighbors when looking for good contractors or repairmen. Also good help with problems with lawns, critters, with neighbor problems. The only thing I don't like is when neighbors go at each other and get petty, back and forth -- no time for that.
It's great to hear the good and the bad when looking to hire people. Keep posting both!
Always get two to three estimates and look at their previous jobs when possible.
I like to know what`s going on in my community and Nextdoor is the perfect tool. It`s helped me to express concern, connect with others that have lost a pet and we can help to find them.
Getting a meaningful response to a question about moved out address'. How to delete them? When people move the address is tied up since the old folks did not delete themselves. How do we make this more current? A clean list is a good list.
Too many "I lost my pet" postings. I suppose if I lost control of my pet I might want help. I don't have a Facebook account so don't participate on social media.
It also appears as though several members fail to look at the contractor listings to find a recommended contractor. I'm a contractor and wish there was a way I could provide my own listing of the services I provide.
Keeps me informed about all the goings on in our neighborhood and nearby surroundings. Helps keep me aware of crime activity and in the know about available resources, services and businesses that neighbors have used and recommend. Great for networking about local activities, rummage sales, items for sale, events, and city hall politics, resources, etc.
Most experiences have been good, but... On a couple of occasions I've been banned for inappropriate comments. Granted I may not be the best judge of my own comments but I do my best to make sure my posts are either helpful to all or in defense of someone who's being attacked by another. Even the defenses are more along the line of maybe the poster ought to rethink. Personal opinion is someone needs to read the thread before deciding a post is 'hurtful, not helpful.' By the way, the "I'm Not a Robot" thingy needs clearer photos unless the goal is to handicap us older folks.
This is a great site for the neighborhood. It is very unfortunate that so many people are starting to use this to air their dirty laundry and argue about opinions.
People misuse the site. It's good in some respects but people don't usrvthe search bar. They just freely ask their questions. Rather than look for an answer,
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
