I've learned so much about my city and the people that live here. NextDoor keeps me updated on events around the area. I am definitely in the loop on how people feel about local politics. I've picked up several items from neighbors - fresh produce, bulbs, cast off clothing, furniture, pet supplies, etc. Most importantly, I've met some nice people.
Like knowing what's going on in the neighborhood especially dog related.
Mostly very positive to connect with neighbors, especially with fire safety issues and a recent emergency situation. But very disappointing that threads disappear some very relevant an important information was lost that would have been very helpful during our recent common experience of California PGE PSPS blackouts. Other than that, the itself forum has been excellent.
Thus far my experience has been positive. The majority of members are courteous and respectful.
A useful tool. I have gotten several good referrals from my neighbors. A good communication system to locate lost pets and ask for advice. A way to advertise items for sale or free. Last but not least, a heads up for warnings about breakins, unwanted solicitors, accidents, etc.
I have not personally used the listings for finding local business for various needs, such as roofing, etc., but I like that your neighbors are willing and able to recommend them when asked. You know you aren't getting a "Paid review", and that means a lot.
There are many neighborhood alerts sent out by neighbors. Lost or found animals. (how nice to have all eyes helping find your lost animal) Notices of potential building in our area, strange persons lurking, personal needs or requests for advise where to go for something, and recommendations. There are notifications of special events hosted by police, fireman, and libraries. Things we would never hear about on the news and feeling closer to our neighbors.
For the most part I find the "Nextdoor" Site useful and informative especially regarding notices about safety concerns in the neighborhood such as burglary, traffic accidents, prowlers, nuisances etc. I don't find arguments on the site regarding differences of opinions on an issue useful. I do not mind different view points on an issue but arguing over the issue is a waste of time.
The app is good for real time updates in the area and getting to know neighbors.
Customer service is not the best but the app gets 4 stars.
Nextdoor gives us the opportunity to know what is happening in our neighborhood at any given time. Like the old "Town Crier" who walk the streets with the latest news.
I knew when a wild fire broke out. When criminals were seen nearby. I heard about community meetings. I can even see when my nearby neighbors want to sell their collectables. Nextdoor provides a great service to our community.
This is a great way to pass along info in the neighborhood.
I have been on Nextdoor for about two years (?) and love hearing from everyone's recommendations and experiences. Sure has helped me!
We live in a wonderful area and I hope everyone thinks it too!
I'm so glad an app like this was made. I keep up on all the activities in and around my neighborhood
I paid for an ad and then looked for it under a different name. It was no where to be found.
Have benefited from this neighborhood watch!
Safety in a neighborhood isn't always easy to achieve. By watching out for one another, we can feel safer and often be safer!
For the most part, Nextdoor is a positive force and helps me to stay aware of local issues.
I started through the signup process, used an odd form of my first name, and when it got to the point saying to complete membership it would send out 100 invites to locals in my name I said hell no. Stop. Uninstall. Reverse membership. I thought I got through that successfully. Guess what? I am getting emails saying I have invited so and so to join nextdoor-follow the link below!
So yeah, basically the creators of this "service" knew what they were doing. Bunch of NOSY neighbors trying to create the conditions for MOB RULE mentality.
They tried to disguise it as some "neighborhood focused" social media thing. It's so sad it's almost funny. Until they go and inspire the next lynching or witch hunt. Make no mistake this site is the regurgitated bile of society's worst smelling excrement: the People of the Green Lawns and lily white aprons. So let's see how far this goes before people get hurt beyond repair.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
