Moderator has sent me harassing direct messages. I'm not the only one she's done it to. So when I complained to next door customer service instead of getting help, my account was blocked.
Set up groups to debate national current events that affect people locally. Censored then block the activity.
Always professional, friendly, super informative, I cant say enough good things about these guy! Tyler and Tristan are the best! This company goes above and beyond! They are amazing! If you want the best of THE BEST look no further than VERTEX PEST CONTROL! Jennifer Bryant
It's turned into a censored, hilariously over moderated joke. There is nothing but a bunch of lefties crying about our president, and differing opinions are called "bullying" and quickly deleted.
Biased against conservatives, Republicans, and anyone who argues against their Leftist/Liberal/Socialist ideas. Can censor your comments without notice or recourse and frequently does. Does not adhere to any consistent standards or guidelines. I just deactivated my account today and couldn't be happier.
So I'm in the Pacific Northwest and during the horrible fires ppl randomly started accusing "antifa" of starting them. Firefighters and law enforcement repeatedly asked that these rumors stop it was hindering their response as the emergency lines were clogged up. They actually ganged up on a firefighter who posted a video and called him names and threatened him for citing the real reason for the fires.
Some crazies even claimed they " witnessed 6 antifa ppl in black setting fires"
Because of the insanity, a local couple went to their OWN NEIGHBORHOOD to check their home and were accosted by an armed group of nutters threatening them. They were literally being hunted down because they wore black clothing. This is only one incident. Nextdoor moderators are also mask deniers. I was permanently banned for citing the science behind masks. It's a right wing conspiracy trash magnet. Stay away for your own sanity. As for neighbors keeping each other safe... who's going to keep you safe from the neighbors? They are the REAL THREAT.
Freedom of speech is certainly not FREE & absolutely DEAD on Next Door! The so called "LEADS" AKA "The ANTI CONSERVATIVE MONITORING POLICE" have no room for non liberal viewpoints on this silly assed site! Conservative thoughts and opinions are not even tolerated PERIOD! Yet I've seen far too many nasty, some even laced with vulgar language and implied accusatory, racist overtoned liberal comments, as well as some with even veiled threats completely get a pass! Go figure! I should certainly know this, as I was put in ND "TIMEOUT" for anywhere from several days to a month at a time on 3 occasions, then finally supposedly "banned for life"! For saying nothing terrible and NEVER even used bad language! Complete JOKE! What kind of a "WIMPY ASSED" way overly sensitive society have we turned into? UNFREAKIN believable & it seems like almost everything you say these days gets you labeled as a "RACIST" somehow! OMG, Lord help us ALL please & HURRY!
This site can be very valuable. Lots of personal experience with contractors - who to use and who NOT to use. Unfortunately there are people who clearly need attention and will post dribble after dribble. Also there are lots of rude people on here. I spend a large amount of time muting them and their negativity!
Tranquilo, amigo! Freedom of Speech - Article One! Your opinion could be just as abrasive and irritating to someone else. I really like this forum for the opportunity for anyone to express themselves. Nothing is forcing you use the site, or to even read a posting that you disagree with (kinda like reading the newspaper).
I am no "pro" or expert on using Nexddoor.com, but I understand that you can "block" someone whose posting irritates you greatly (even better than Quiet Time). Obvious slanted or political comments should better be kept within the confines of any GROUP with which you have an affinity (no aspirin or antacid required).
The General feed is perfect for neighborly and convivial conversations: Where to find a handyman or mechanic, bad road or weather conditions, lost pets. Lots of people simply want to tip their hats and say "howdy". You don't do anyone a favor by posting on the General feed about how you feel on a "hot" or political topic. Don't enter the General feed with a chip on your shoulder.
If you want to holler or scream, just do it in front of mirror. Otherwise no one probably else really cares about caring you throwing a "hissy" - Including the one looking back at you from the mirror. You probably just harden the opinion of your opponents anyway.
Just consider not going to the Nextdoor.com site until after the Election. Even then, the losing side will continue with bitter comments.

Next Door is a site that provides a platform for your racist and white supremacist neighbors to threaten you with violence. It is everything wrong with the country today. The KKK and the Nazis love it!
When I joined Nextdoor, I thought it would be a nice place to get recommendations, post questions, and join threads with similar interests. The site does include all of that, but there is so much more that I didn't expect. There are people on Nextdoor called "leads" who decide what posts get deleted and what posts remain. Although Nextdoor policies are clearly posted, the leads do not follow them.
People have written a lot of political posts recently, which is understandable with the presidential election coming up. What I've found is that instead of adhering to Nextdoor policies, the leads delete posts according to their own political motivations. I see innocent posts that get deleted, and yet many offensive posts with made-up nonsense, name-calling, and idiotic and ignorant attacks on their neighbors remain posted. There is a person who frequently attacks anyone who disagrees with her and uses pictures from social media with insulting words to belittle her neighbors. I know her posts have been reported by members but the posts never get deleted. Members have complained. I have complained to Nextdoor numerous times, and although they assure me it is not acceptable and they will look into it, nothing has changed. Some people never have any posts deleted even though what they post is clearly against ND policy, while other people follow ND policy but their posts are removed. There is nothing fair about it. If a lead doesn't agree with what you have to say, your post is gone. It makes me wonder if Nextdoor has a hidden agenda. As there is no explanation as to why Nextoor allows their leads to "pick and choose" instead of adhering to their policies, it is not unreasonable to question if they intentionally choose leads who follow their political views. I don't believe Nextdoor is being transparent with the people who use their site. Although I was once excited to join, I am now disgusted with the way people are treated.
Nextdoor. Com is a platform that amplifies racist and reactionary voices and terrifies the $#*! out of POC neighbors. If you consider yourself an ally, why are you still hanging out there?

Pro: An alternative to craigslist or FB marketplace to buy or sell a chair or other household items.
Con: As a discussion site it is demeaning, depressing and a dud. Highly biased censorship.
Con: Recommendations about services/businesses not dependable, for instance one highly promoted and popular handyman wanted to tear off our 9 yr old roof that only needed caulk around a skylight. A "tree service person" showed up who owned no equipment -- he was related to the person who suggested him.
Con: Biased Censorship. In a special interest "group" outside the main feed the moderator was confused when entire threads were deleted and posts removed. NextDoor guidelines say only the moderator can delete or remove posts in special interest groups but 2 neighborhood leads were able to push buttons whenever something was said they did not like or agree with. These 2 leads posted politically biased posts that looked like direct quotes from a political handbook, but if anyone opposed their views or questioned their facts the thread was removed or the post muted. This site creates a petrie dish where petty tyrants can thrive.
CON: The main feed is censorious and warning notices pop up if you write trigger words like "covid-19." The main feed is often filled with nasty hateful remarks totally ignored by the neighborhood leads if made by friends or if the remarks coincide with their political leanings while other remarks are suppressed.
Overall the cons outweigh the pros.
Found that comments I had made related to local policing policy after a shooting on my street had mysteriously disappeared from the website. When I asked NextDoor why these comments had disappeared without any notification being given, their response was that they had received a report that the comments (which were extremely polite and essentially amounted to "we need better politicians that will prioritize reducing violent crime") were deemed to "violate their community standards" and were moderated by the "community lead".
They clearly do not care about free speech, do not care about fostering an open dialog in the community, and are essentially another digital forum for NIMBYs and grumpy retired folks to complain.
These community is actively making our neighborhood worse (maybe that's why the CEO moved away from my neighborhood?) and needs to go away.
Expect to be censored, then banned, then removed if you take the unpopular side on any hot discussion. Or in my case, even ask questions that expose the flaws of the popular side. Is this even America?
This site used to be good, but now it's just a crapshow. In my neighborhood the same group of people hijack posts they don't agree with, make countless comments, are rude, hostile and uncivil. They rant and bully daily and nothing is done about them. The leads are useless as they take no action on comments that are clearly in violation of ND guidelines. The leads moderate based on personal opinion and play favorites. Nothing is done about these abusive neighbors and others leave the site because of them. That's not a guess, many who stop using the site post about and explain why they're leaving. This behavior is not occasional, it's daily. As of right now there's a handful of posts about a boat rally that to took place this past weekend. They are innocuous posts with pictures of the parade and poster saying nothing more than, "had a great time!" "Was a wonderful day!" And neighbors who can't control their behavior have hijacked the posts with the most uncivil, rude and abusive comments that get reported and nothing is done. Apparently the guidelines don't apply when the leads agree with the abuse. They are useless. Visiting ND in my neighborhood is like stepping onto a middle school campus with a bunch of immature teenagers bullying each other. And ND obviously does not care.
Don't walk, but run from this social app. It seems to bring out the worst in neighbors. Filled with politics and hate, lots of shaming, definitely left demographic oriented. Very cliquish and hostile behavior. NO thanks!
Next door staff share information with members they are friends with. They stalk anyone that disagrees with them. They suspend accounts of conservatives and let liberals harass people with no consequences. It is not safe.
I have kept my posts short and respectful and followed all guidelines to a T. I expressed conservative views but within the guidelines, making sure none were accusatory or offensive. I was more open in my HB Republicans group where, per the guidelines, political discussions should be. I was never warned of inappropriate posts. Suddenly I received a notice that I was banned because I used an abbreviation of my last name. I did so because I am easy to find on the internet due to my uncommon name. I have seen members admitting they did background checks on members with whom they disagreed, while disparaging them publicly. Some of these people are dangerous and I don't need them com I g to my house. Nextdoor says it values safety. There is nothing safe about putting your full legal ame and general location out to strangers. I am certain that my name came to their attention due to my conservative comments. This was the only way they could ban me. (Rule being you must reveal your full legal name on all posts)
I'm interested in how other people's experiences are with Nextdoor. I am a student at SJSU and need some anonymous data for a project. Can you fill out this survey about your experience using Nextdoor? Thanks :D https://sjsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cuav8xdK5absfop
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
