I had a problem with my DNA kit and Carol-Anne has been extremely helpful and friendly and very patiently replied to all my questions. Now the problem has been solved and I am waiting for my results.
Despite my attempts to narrow search criteria, this site returned results in a confusing, lengthy mishmash. My search was for a Polish ancestor whose last name began with B, and I got tons of "matches" with last names starting with other letters for other nationalities (Philippino? Really?). They then told me I needed a family tree for searches to work. When I called and asked for a partial refund, they promised to refund about 1/3 of the price, but 3-4 weeks later it hasn't appeared and they are not responding to email inquiries. Stick with reputable site like Ancestry.
Bravo.
I hit a wall and called support. The rep, Lisa, helped me understand how to find more information in small symbols attached to matches and persons. I suggest people call support, as they are very knowledgeable about how to get deeper into the website. Lisa also emailed more instructions, which I will review.
My test was absolutely a fraud. Just one example. My Paternal Grandmother was a full 100% Abenaki Native American but the results said I'm only 1.3%.
38% Iberian peninsula, NO WAY! I want my money back!
Hi Henry,
I regret to find that you are unhappy with your Myheritage DNA ethnicity results and your feedback is very important to us and plays a big role in developing our product.
We understand that one of your close relatives is 100% Abenaki Native American and you are now wondering why this is not reflected in your Ethnicity Estimate.
It is important to note that even though you have Native American ancestry, this does not necessarily mean that this genetic heritage is included in your DNA and might therefore not appear in your Ethnicity Estimate.
Each person receives about 50% of his DNA from his/her mother, and 50% from his/her father. The percentages of DNA a person receives from their ancestors at the level of grandparents and further back (great grandparents etc.) are however not necessarily divided evenly in each generation.
In addition, though you might have Native American DNA, it might belong to a tribe that is not part of the sampling used to build our Ethnicity Estimate. There are more than 500 recognized tribes, and they are ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse. However, the majority of these tribes have not contributed their DNA for research purposes which would allow science to establish better ethnicity models.
Therefore, the fact that we did not find Native American DNA in your Ethnicity Estimate does not mean that you are not Native American.
Our goal at Myheritage is to offer the most progressive genealogy research tools on the market, allowing everyone to integrate their DNA results with their family trees, using the assorted tools we offer for family genealogy research.
We invite you to use all of the tools we offer to research each generation in your family tree.
If you would like more specifics about your ethnicity estimate or how to explore our many features for research, and about our refund policy, please e-mail me at [email protected].
Always happy to help

I was interested in finding out some information on a relative pf mine so I came across My Heritage and started searching. It was so fun & interesting as I discovered more than I had originally hoped to find. I forgot to cancel after my free 2 weeks and was so worried when my credit card had been charged for the annual subscription. I am unemployed and could not afford the fee at this time. They could not have been nicer about it and offered a full refund. I am so relieved and will be back to get a subscription as soon as I am able. Thank you so much My Heritage. Sorry I was unable to offer any bad points.

I have been using the MyHeritage site for some time and have always found it very user friendly particularly as I am a "non-techie" person. However, one issue arose in that occasionaly I could not access the particular configuration I was looking. I called the help desk and within moments my difficulties were resolved. I found the contact very helpful and patient with my query. Many thanks to the team.
Probably the most accurate results by far out of the four tests I have taken. The presentation was also very unique in that the present your results in a video scanning the world, They even add music!
Since joining MyHeritage, I've been able to make solid progress with both mine and my husband's family trees. The site is relatively easy to navigate and the staff I've dealt with so far have been very helpful. I still have a little way to go to put the last 'pieces of the puzzles' together but I'm sure it'll all come together with MyHeritage's help.
My problem was dwelt with swiftly and efficiently today. The person was knowledgeable and very helpful.
I got a call right away and was reassured that I won't loose my precious data, and a sales person called with good special offers. I love this site and it is so clear. Thanks.
Evelyn was so friendly and helpful. She found how I could add scanned documents to family which has helped me hugely. I give her 10 out of 10
Low initial rate complimented by a huge price markup and a auto renew for something you didn't agree to or ask for. They said their policy was not to refund anything but they would consider half the amount. After hanging up and calling my credit card issuer to dispute the charge I called back to give them a chance to change their mind and they magically did what they previously said was impossible. This is a scam. You don't auto-renew for twice the original price, play hardball like you can't get out of it then let people out of it who call your bluff. Do not take no for an answer with these people. This is fraud.

Although I had a fairly long wait to have my call answered, the young man, Markus Witte, who answered my call, was very efficient and easy to talk to, he understood my problems and was able to help me.
I had to phone My Heritage tonight because of a problem that was of my own making. The person who answered was SO HELPFUL. My problem was solved quickly (and I did not have to wait very long at all for the call to be answered).
I have contactet MyHeritage some times, and the People I meet are listening to me, are talking in a way that I understand and make me feel that you care for me and my case. Thank you. This is excellent service!
I called initially because I had misplaced my kit number. I was unable to do anything on the website without it. To my dismay, the website stated that my email address was not valid. Long story short, I sent off my kit with a typo error in the email address and they were not able to process my kit. Tessa, the young lady I spoke to on the phone discovered the problem, rectified it and got my kit back on track. She told me I would get an email in a day or two with my activation code. I was quite happy with the outcome. However, Tessa, it seems was not. About 5 minutes after I hung up, I received a call from Tessa saying that she had talked with her manager and asked if she could call me back and give me my activation code over the phone so that I wouldn't have to wait. She walked me step by step through the process of recording my code. It has been a long time since I've had that kind of service over the phone. WOW!
My appreciation for a job well done. I had an issue with one of the Email addresses associated with my MyHeritage account. After attempting to Download my raw DNA file, for a few days, I finally broke down and made the call. After sitting thru 23 other users in the Que, I figured I would try again later. Well later meant sitting thru another 15 folks with issues. I hung out and waited. Finally this lovely person, Maya, got on line and within 10 minutes I had my file. It meant using an alternate email address, but it did work. Not only did she solve the one issue, but corrected the original problem. Now that's what customer service should be all about. Great job, Maya, Thank you.
It´s very interesting to get to know a little more about your background, which the DNA test provided, but I had expected more details. If you want to know more you have to pay more, and it will be quite expensive in the end.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.

Hi Cathy,
I am sorry to read about your negative experience researching your family at Myheritage.
We at times experience a high volume of questions from our users and there may be wait times for help.
I apologize for the the wait and will do all I can to help.
Firstly, We have no problem issuing you a refund (per our terms and conditions) if you are unhappy with your purchase, but, I strongly believe that I can help you research your Polish ancestor.
Indeed the initial list of search results that you described may not show all of the information you would like, but that is not the end result of your search.
It is essential to know that the Myheritage SuperSearch incorporates several extra tools to organize and filter the initial page search results.
Therefore, you will have greater success if you narrow your search on the initial page of search results.
For example, If you are searching for a Polish ancestor whose last name began with B, you will most likely type the first name of the ancestor and last name as B.
You will than see all the different variants of the search, but, In the left hand margin, please notice the "Narrow down by category".
These are all of the research categories for which results are found and listed to narrow your search.
In your case I would choose to refine my search for the birth place being Poland as this is a Polish ancestor.
Next, for more specifics, click on the Birth, Marriage, and the Death category to limit the results to vital records.
That done, you will see that there are sub-categories to further specify the results.
This filtering allows you to get find your information in for example "Roman Catholic Diocese Church Books" and many more Polish collections.
Here you may also refine your search to find more information through searching our large database of Myheritage family trees as well.
Our collections include over 6 billion historical records and is constantly expanding, but it is possible that your family is not yet listed in our records.
This is why we provide a free trial period and a money back guarantee for users to try out our collections.
I'm more than interested in helping you refine your research and, if needed, give you more information about a refund. Unfortunately, I have yet been able to locate your ticket opened here.
Please contact me in person at [email protected].
Glad to help
Rafael
