I just couldn't get one of the DNA samples registered, so I went onto the helpline. I was number two in the queue, but the 'music on hold' was so jolly I didn't actually mind too much and got on with what I was doing.
Once Aaron answered, after not too long, he sorted the problem in a couple of minutes, talking me through Plan A, whilst assuring me there was also a Plan B.
The latter wasn't needed.
I've called customer service twice since subscribing to the site; once regarding a technical issue, the other recently to enquire about th new DNA matching process.
On both occassions I have recieved flawless and helpful advice and I've never been left waiting on hold or had to listen to musak. Overall I think the company still has room for improvement in it's DNA matching procedures, hence four stars, but they appear to be making strides in the right direction and the chromosome browser is most welcome.
Had an odd issue on the tree that I had never encountered before.
Unlike many other times, got through on the phone quickly. The representatives are almost always helpful (almost always). Today the person responding was very helpful. Fast and effective. I wish every interaction with service providers was as smooth.

Myheritage I have very good use for, partly because it is fun and excited to do family research.
Having done my genealogy along with my father and cousins, we traced our ancestry on both sides back hundreds of years to their English/Scotch/Irish/Western Europe origins; heavily weighted on the British side The MyHeritage results were simply incorrect; 2.7% English. Buyer beware!
When I did a wrong payment (the pop up came too early) I had some heavy problems with my site. After some e-mails and a final call everything was restored and I coul go on again with my searching. Good communication, good support!

I bought a DNA kit from MyHeritage back in May and had problems with the processing in general. After reading a notification, that they had problems with the sample and were not able to process it... they gave me a result 3 days later, which is kind of strange. They also changed the date of arrival at the lab in the timeline, which actually can´t be. Later on it was in processing the next day it wasn`t... etc.
I really wonder if anything went wrong... and if there were problems with processing it... why didn´t I get an email?
Actually it should be fun doing that stuff, but I am really a lil bit disappointed about the way it went -> not really trustworthy... seemed a lil bit like: we are trying to process the sample even it`s poor instead of writing an email and give the possibility to repeat it properly. At least I got that impression... anyway their call center is super friendly

Waiting for your results is estimated at 4-6 weeks but, indeed, under various circumstances it may take longer once our lab receives your DNA sample.
That being said, I totally identify with how discouraging it is to wait for DNA results as I, too, have gone through waiting for my own DNA results only to find it was worth the wait, as "all good things" tend to be.

I get a report that I have over 100,000 matches. This was reported maybe 50 weeks ago and still has not been fixed.
I currently have no outstanding matches.
I needed to change the file on my husband and I we were both being tested, and somehow or another I couldn't figure out how to do it. The representative was more than accommodating and didn't get me off the phone till it was all corrected. Was more than helpful and courteous.
Im from italy and Im having problems to send back to laboratory the adn sample from my heritage kit. I called the support number and i talk to Stefani, who help me with a kindness and professional service. My Spanish is better than my English so she helped me with a perfect Spanish. I utilized MyHeritage before a family reunion in Ireland and found the site easy to use. Build out 7 generations with 6 major families. I then ordered a chart to be printed and realized after that there was an error on the tree (my error). I sent an email to customer support and they immediately cancelled the Oder giving me a chance to amend. I would recommend this site.
I received help with tracking a purchase, and an issue with iMac version of Builder. While there was an ongoing issue with the iMac version, Itai was able to help me with a workaround. His answers were clear and accurate. It was a pleasant experience dealing with him.

Yet I didn't get any Iberian and or Native American at all. 23andMe was spot on with my results. I was surprised when my results were far different. 78% Central American? I will stick with 23andMe. I think they have more populations to compare you to. Not just big grouped blocks. My family has Spanish Jewish heritage. 23andMe accurately found that along with my Native American ancestry. The Scandanavian percent was accurate though as well as the percent Italian. They hit the mark with the little stuff. I represent the history of Texas. French, Spanish, Apache. I expected MyHeritage to find that too.

To estimate your ancestral ethnicity, MyHeritage compares your DNA with the DNA of people around the globe, whose genetic ethnicity is known. Currently our genetic models are based on 42 ethnic groups around the world. But this will improve thanks to our Founder Population project.
It is true that different researchers and different providers, analyzing the same DNA of a person, can come up with different estimates because the reference populations vary between every company. Another factor is how every company develops its own algorithm, which can result in a diverse ethnicity estimate.
Nonetheless, your feedback is very essential to enhancing our service and research tools. Therefore, I would like to learn more about your ethnicity estimate and experience using MyHeritage but, in order to do so, I'm going to need to locate your account with us.

Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).

Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.

I regret to find that you are unhappy with your Ethnicity Report. I understand that you have researched your family's origins in England, Scotland, Ireland and Western Europe but you only show 2.7% British.
The results you receive in the MyHeritage Ethnicity Estimate are based on an autosomal DNA test. Being that England, Scotland, Ireland and Western Europe are close together on the map and science currently finds DNA to be very similar between people in neighboring countries, where there isn't sufficient statistical difference, the ethnicity estimate is retained on a higher regional level. Even when there is a statistical difference between ethnicities within a region, it is true for the population's average.
Along with our estimate, many of our members benefit from other research tools we provide that is integrated with their DNA results such as DNA matching, ancestral surnames and comparing matching family trees to help understand their family story. While DNA matches allow you to research your family up to 6 generations, the Ethnicity Estimate gives you a range of information about where your ancestors lived a few hundred years ago.
Estimating one’s ethnicity based on DNA is a relatively new field in genetics, great advancements have been made in the past years, but there is much more to discover. I can assure you that MyHeritage are on top of finding new discoveries and will continue to improve our Ethnicity Estimate to give you the most accurate results.
