I've been using MyBuilder as a tradey for about two years, it was tough at first but I now find nearly all my work through it. These types of sites are never perfect but this is by far the best one out there
Very happy with our work done, very versatile young man reliable and thorough. Everything was left in clean and tidy condition, he has many skills he can call on...
Absolutely brilliant picked a man Steve to do my garden painting ect he's turned it in to a haven from painting to putting up garden furniture now hes starting on my house he's that good he can do anything so happy I chose this site!
I was new to online sites for building services. I put in 'looking for carpenter' and up popped Mybuilder along with zillions of other some well known sites (don't get hook on a company you recognise as it's been around for yonks... if you get my drift). Decided to try Mybuilder and now after my 3rd job request and completion at great satisfaction I must say it will be my go to sight for all my needs and they've got some free adverts with all I encounter. I'd even wear a tee shirt if they had one... hint hint:-) Mybuilder is the best! I'm one happy customer.
I've used MyBuilder a few times in recent years for various types of work, mainly when looking for local plumbers or electricians and most recently when needing a boiler repaired. I've always had quick responses when posting work and found the tradesmen I needed who have all been efficient and reasonably priced. I'll use MyBuilder again in the future.
Great job done on the next day of contact for a 90 yr lady. Caring and kept distancing all the time he was there. Lady was very happy with both job and kindness given thankyou
Posted an urgent job after being let down by a Facebook company. Had a reply within minutes and several more within the hour. Job was completely same day, very very happy.
Always able to find a good trade person through this company. Also reassuring to read reviews before hiring so know the person is reputable. I always feel sure that any work that needs doing is at hand
I use My Builder to find local, trustworthy tradesmen. I have used the site for three or four jobs now, and each time I have found local tradesmen who have been professional, knowledgeable and who have done a good job to my satisfaction. I would always recommend My Builder as a first step in finding tradesmen for any job.
Their service was really fast, i had a plumber at my door within an hour, reasonable price, great customer service, and fully protected (suit, mask, gloves).
Arlo were very good - nice job of the fence, cleared up afterwards and took all debris away. Very pleased.
I posted a job and got a plumber out within 2 hour. They did a great job fixing my tap and a great price.
Fictional jobs and customers just too charge trades people you will either get a message saying sorry job sorted or cancelled.
Please all traders stay well away from my builder. They dont have the best reviews due to their attitude and behaviour when it comes to solving issues with accounts. Especially when it comes to charges and fees.
Closed my account and discriminating me for someone else despite having 100% feedback and never a complaint.
Leads are more expensive than other similar sites and no refunds for dud leads the worst customer service of all the trade sites out there
I would like to thank Paul & Lee for my beautiful bathroom their advice was first class and their workmanship was excellent. I will be contacting them again in the very near future when I have a new kitchen.
If you are a treadesman/woman, you have to apply for "leads". If you get shortlisted by the customer, you will be charged regardless weather you get the job or not. Even if the "lead" does not answer the phone, emails or texts, you still get charged! The customer can shortlist upto 5 tradesmen per job & MyBuilder encourage them so shortlist lots of tradesmen. One lead cost me £28+VAT. MyBuilder will charge this amount for upto 5 tradesmen. So they make £168 & either 1 person (or sometimes none) will get the job. This is why they multi-millionares, at the expense of people just trying to make a living.
I started adding a note in my messages saying "please only shortlist me if you are serious as I will be charged a fee as soon as you shortlist me". MyBuilder told me I can not do this & have now closed my account. I want to take legal action against then. Can anyone help?
Hi used a builder based over in lower bar hurst. Jobs were done to a good standard. However the actual builder just stood there giving orders and smoking & every sentence he said he's a builder. So annoying. He had to guy ls working for him who were absolutely superb, but he just treated them like slaves! Watch out for this fake slave worker ( colin. Seward). Builder my foot
We've been with Mybuilder for 6 months now and YES my husband has made money from it ( it continues to be the most 'reliable' way of generating money of the two sites we belong to ( Google ad words being the other) but it is far from being without it's down sides! The site has alot of vey questionable policies I'm afraid, that see's tradesman like my husband constantly feeling ripped off, without really being able to prove they really are being. Mybuilder holds it's cards very close to it's chest with bare minimal explanation anywhere on their sites of how they ACTUALLY work. You feel very much in the dark. Main bug bearers are-
Shortlisting. Shortlisting. And Shortlisting. When you show an interest in a job and the customer returns an interest in hiring you by giving you their contact number - this is shortlisting. Problem is several others can be shortlisted along with you ( which means all of us getting charged the lead fee- great for Mybuilder! Ketching! And great if you actually GET the job BUT 9 times out of 10 you DONT get the job. You'll find yourself chasing up the customer feeling like you are coming across desperate ( which generally you are chasing work. Der) Only to be told "sorry I've found someone else" You are left feeling dejected and pissed off. And hey that lead cost £5.80. Just one in a long line of lead fees that then mount up and up getting billed to you weekly. It's demoralizing and you end up feeling ripped off by both the customer AND Mybuilder.
Basically I think that Mybuilder needs to make it very clear to the customer that by shortlisting someone they are entering an agreement that means they have to give each and every tradesman they shortlisted a fair opportunity to quote to them. (and that ideally they will not look elsewhere on other sites! Although I realise this sounds a tad militant). We are continuing with Mybuilder for now but are looking at going on Checkatrade as this really is becoming an issue for us.
Answer: From what I gather they just check. Insurances! No qualifications or registration checks at all!
Answer: Hi Mitsy, the service is completely free for homeowners.
Answer: Well you can always try, in anyway they would remove your reviews as they did mine. Depend which trader though! Some of them seems to be more protected than others...
Official site - MyBuilder helps you find great builders and tradespeople and review feedback for work they've done. 98% of jobs get matched to skilled tradesmen.
