I ordered a lavalier mic from Musicians Friend. Unfortunately 2 days later I tried to return it because it does not work with my Rode wireless go, and I called them but they said my order number does not match what's in their system so they can't help me. Even though the return label info included in the box has their company name, address and telephone number, LPN and scan code. However, I did get a refund for it through Target since they were the ones that referred Musicians Friend. So Im ok now, but the whole experience with talking with the so called customer service rep and her constantly cutting me off is the reason for the review score of three stars.
Add me to the list of others that was treated to Musician's Friend's version of customer service. I also was a frequent customer, and have spent a lot of money at both Musician's Friend and Guitar Center over the years.
In January, I purchased a brand new bass under a 48-month financing deal. Ordered it on a Friday evening. It shipped Monday for delivery Tuesday. I knew something was wrong; the Friend would NEVER ship overnight on their own dime.
I checked out the shipping details and saw that it was shipping from a town 10 miles away from me… also the location of a Guitar Center. My suspicions grew.
When the package arrived, I had my son record me opening the box. I removed the gig bag – which to their credit was well-packed. As I opened the bag, I started seeing scratches and dings on the bass. Removing the bass, there were no tags or cards. No plastic on the pickguard. There was, however, a 9-volt battery already in the bass for the active pickups.
Clearly, I received a floor model. A well-used floor model. For full price.
The bass has been returned and I did receive my full refund. I will not, though, purchase another item from Musician's Friend or Guitar Center, unless I need emergency strings or drum sticks.
I followed up by writing an email to my Sweetwater rep and the CEO, congratulating them on always earning my business. Pleased to say Sweetwater just got a mighty big order from the company I work for. Who do you think made the recommendation? :D
Where do I even start?! This company shouldn't be in business based on my experience. The CS reps have horrible communication skills; they'll straight up lie to you to get you off the phone, they are rude and very unhelpful and you'll never fix your original issue the first time you call. They ONLY reason they are still operating is there 48 months no interest credit card Synchrony Bank offers. Believe me, it ain't worth it. Go to ZZOUNDS or Sweetwater.
I am a college student in desperate need of musical items at a decent price. Musician's Friend sends out coupons and there was a 20% coupon that I had just seen, however it expired only a day ago. I called the main number and the site's wonderful representative Ashley Foard picked up. I explained to her my situation and she kindly and patiently helped get me my discount. I ordered a keyboard and other accessories to go along with it, constantly asking questions to make sure the products and payment were correct. I successfully ordered my products and she offered to call when they arrive to make sure everything was in good condition. I was very fortunate to have spoken with Ashley and I am very happy with my purchase.
Bought a guitar for my son's Christmas gift online at Guitar Center on 8/26/2000. On 9/26, the guitar had not been shipped, though they already had billed and received payment. GC said guitar was out of stock... will give me a refund, and notify me when new stock is ready to ship. Did get the refund... but never heard from them again.
On 11/17, saw same deal in stock on Musician's Friend, and purchased it.
On 11/19, received Email saying it is backordered.
On 12/17, told that guitar is still out of stock. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift!
On 1/13/2001, MF sends Email "The item(s) below has been canceled from your order. If your credit card has already been authorized for payment, it may take 5–7 days for your bank to release the hold on those funds." Not even a 'we're sorry, but'!
SAME COMPANY, SAME LIES. Never had a bad thing to say about Sweetwater. INCOMPETENCE..., and worse.
They messed up my billing info, failed to contact me about an order cancellation, and had poor customer service. I do not recommend.
My complaint is as many. They list items that are in stock so you'll order just to notify you days later the item is back ordered. They list item as "new" but actually an open box or a retuned item. Will I buy anything from them again... OH HECK NO!
I wnet on line to look for a small rack mount mixer. I found a little behringer, because I needed to rack mount it. Sweetwater had it on sale for a good price, you could order becuase they had more coming in after the holidays, but I thought, I order quite a bit fromMusicians friend and I am pretty sure they price match, so i contacted them and even gave them the link, they looked at it a bit to make sure it was the same mixer. Discription was a bit different but they realized it was the same, then they said since its not in stock, no way could they match it. Here is a credable competitor who is not noted for lowballing, yet it was an out they could take. Very dsiappointing. Why would I ever call to compare again. I might as well just stay on their site and order it and wqait for sewwtwater to deliver it, they have never fulted before, howerev this was a huge default from Musicians friend!
Thanks for calling back upon my request. Oh, wait.
You didn't do that.
Twice.
That 'pandemic' excuse is wearing pretty thin.
I purchased a music book on line and realized it was for duets and not solo guitar. I went to the Musicians Friend (that is funny - they are no friend) canceled the order and asked them to call me. A few days later they shipped it anyway!
I called to discuss the issue and got a guy name Ryan - after I gave him all the information he put me on hold and they hung up! I believe it was intentional because he did not call back. Now it seems they have blocked my calls, the phone just hangs up when I call them.
I have turned this into paypal - suggest you don't shop here - look at the other reviews!
I purchased Melodyne Editor 5 from Editor 4, it was my first time buying Melodyne software. Instead of the software I thought it was, I bought an upgrade. No where on the page did it say it was an upgrade, and I can't buy the software that the upgrade is for be sure it's obsolete. After all of this, I've wasted $100, and hours of my time on something I can't use. Customer service was of no help to me, definitely not a musician's friend.
Son got me $100 gift card ordered a bunch of strings got one package at the right time other sets never came called they reordered a different set for us then said they we're on backorder also waited and waited then said we didn't use a gift card be used a credit card and they said we were never charged because they didn't ship so we didn't get our money back and lost the money from the gift card stay away from
I purchased an "open box" speaker with a lvl 3 rating, from what I understand that's pretty good. When I received the speaker one of the wheels were broken and when I hooked it up to play music, they speaker was bowls and crackling. I have an event this weekend I was depending on this speaker for and now I have to ship back this piece of junk and when they receive it I gotta wait 7-10 business days, and the gentleman I was dealing with was laughing while talking about the whole thing. I won't be returning.
Spent $1,100 on a brand new Ibanez S61. Box showed up the guitar was wrapped only in bubble wrap. No factory box no paper work no warranty no nothing. They took a floor model full of blemishes from a guitar center threw it in a box and sent it out. So incredibly unethical and deceiving. Selling used gear at brand new prices and trying to get away with it. I spend a lot of money on guitars and they just lost my business for ever.
I've spent thousands of dollars over the 18 months with them. A few of the items had issues that I fixed myself and didn't complain. Placed a small order and when it arrived, one of the items was missing. Called customer service. They said they'd have to do an "investigation" that would take several days and if I wanted the strings sooner than that, they'd have to charge me again. The item in question costs $7. My "friends" don't treat me like a thief. I checked out their employee satisfaction as well. Apparently they frequently treat their employees like dirt as well. More than one of their stories included the assertion that they value sales above customer service. Makes sense that they just filed for bankruptcy a second time. They're never going to make it if they keep treating everyone like dirt. Recipe for disaster. Thanks for letting me vent.
Stay away from this site if you want what you ordered when it's supposed to be there. I placed an order on a Tuesday and paid a lot for expedited shipping and not only have my items not shipped yet (Thursday) but they are supposed to be here tomorrow. Every time I call I get different answers about what has shipped and when it will be here and only by the fourth person did I get some sort of data dump invoice which is incredibly hard to read. If you need time sensitive gear don't go to musicians friend. If you need gear at all, try every other site and your local stores, pay extra before you go to musicians friend.
I ordered a guitar to play a wedding gig that got cancelled at the last minute due to the virus. After ordering, I got an email from a Customer Service rep, checking to see if everything was OK. When the wedding got cancelled, I tried to contact the Rep at the number and hours listed to arrange a return... No answer. No Rep? Strange. Couple days later I called their Customer Service to arrange return. The lady picks up, very heavy accent... I hear roosters crowing in the background... she is on the other side of the world. Not a fan of companies who do that. But worse, she was RUDE! Lady told me in broken English that I was several days past the return window. I told her, "The guitar is NEW IN THE BOX, it has literally not been opened, and I am fine with paying the 15% restocking fee (like $60)." She says, well, why did you wait so long? Arrogant and totally inflexible attitude. She refused to take any return. Worldwide pandemic, things are rough, things get cancelled... and Musician's Friend says, "Welp, you're on day 34, and the return window is 30 days, so... You're outta luck pal!" I decided to write an email to customer service... but they simply didn't reply. Terrible service, terrible company. Never again.
I ordered a guitar on November 25th I had to contact them by November 6th to find out that the item was backordered until January 2nd. This is the most unprofessional customer service I have ever received. Their inability to reach out and let me know that my item was backordered prevented me from being able to purchase a guitar and get it to my home on time for Christmas, thus I have to explain to one of the most important people in my life why there's no Christmas gift for their under the Christmas tree. Never buy anything from musicians friend ever, plenty of other good music sellers out there who will take care of you.
Why is it so hard to delete my review. I wanted to delete it but it's apparently really hard to do that so you have to edit it to something ridiculous because they won't make it easily deletable.
I've suppose I've ordered at least 50 items through Musicians Friend. They've always come through for me.
