As has been said by many before, they sell used products as new. Only order with the expectation that the "new" guitar you're buying is one that was returned to a Guitar Center at some point. My "new" guitar was shipped in bubble wrap with dirty strings and finger prints all over the body.
Ordered 20 of an item. About $400. Got email confirmation, followed by a canceled order notice. Checked online and they showed me ordering 124 items for $2,100, in various statuses or processing, backordered, and canceled. 5 hours of chatting with 5 people and nobody knows why the order shows 124 items, nor were they consistent with the numbers of backordered items, the number I'll actually receive, or how much I'll be billed.
Zero trust in this company and a specially in their customer service. I may still have to fight being over charged for what I receive, but I'm prepared for that battle. Unbelievable.
Ordered a Kemper Profiler Stage on 2/21/22 and was supposed to ship next day. Next day my account said it was backordered. I called and the said the confused it with a demo model at a physical store. (Guitar Center) They are owned by Guitar Center. But they are still advertising that they are in stock and ready to ship at both musicians friend and guitar center. I have to wait 2 weeks untill another shipment comes in. I'm guessing because they gave me a presidents day sale and want to fill the full price orders first?
Anyway I'll shop at Sweetwater after this. They are more honest and professional.
EDIT:
(This is the day after I wrote this review.)
After submitting a review that musicians friend emailed me, which I expressed the same dissatisfaction as in this review, I received another email from musicians friend saying that the item had been shipped. When I checked the tracking, I found that they had it overnight shipped. That is a very satisfying response but it was still time consuming and stressful.
Ordered a Fender pj Mustang Bass first week of December. Its nearly March.
Sweetwater, Chicago Music, American Music, have all been restocked with this instrument multiple times. Enough said
A week ago I made a purchase with you, due to an emergency, I bought a guitar and paid overnight, it arrived two days late and in poor condition, without the corresponding cover that was included, two days ago I made another purchase of another guitar with the same shipment over night and I still haven't received the instrument and I haven't been sent the tracking number either, the first two purchases I make with Musicians Friend and I receive this feedback from you, the attention to new clients is very unacceptable.
I tried to communicate by phone and the person who attended me with children screaming behind the phone never tried to provide me with a solution to the bad service of MF, he simply told me to wait or cancel the order... very mediocre and disrespectful and professionalism to professionals who have been working for decades in music, I was not given the opportunity to speak with a Manager or Supervisor who provides any solution or apologizes for the double inconvenience caused to me in my professional work.
I hope they give me some solution ASAP, I will also leave a few reviews on BBB
I purchased a bass pedal using presidents day discount code from site email. After several days i saw no movement or tracking info.so i contacted them. They said alls good. It will ship 2day. It did not. So i contacted them again & they said 2marro definately. Dont worry. I waited till next day... then recieved a cancellation email. I contacted them AGAIN. Now the story turns into they cant locate pedal to ship it... meanwhile its still listed IN STOCK READY TO SHIP. Even now days later. Still in stock. So either they decided not to honor the discount or something. If its still in stock ready to ship. Or if you pay full price they have it. Otherwise someones going to go thru same situation as me as well... they need to change the site listing or they just lied plain & simple. Its a tama power glide 900 bass drum pedal 229$. Ill drop a screenshot of listing in stock still. Thanks
STAY FAR AWAY- Dishonest sleazeballs!
Sent me a 500 dollar acoustic advertised as brand new. When it arrived from there dump in the Midwest the build sheet was from 4 years ago. Of course the guitar and strings were old and the wood was dried out. The action was high and unplayable.
This is one shady dishonest unethical company. Clearly they have no shortage of unhappy customers they have turned off.
They also let your reward points expire shortly after you earn them with NO notice. Nowhere is this written on the order form nor do the shady con artist let you know they will expire.
At times when you call customer service you will be transferred to a call center in some far off country where you can barely understand the agent speaking to you. Other times the cowards in the midwest will answer the phone themselves.
Save your time and money this place is BAD NEWS
Tried to order the stupid deal of the day for the sigam and they said my card was declined lol i have a musiciansfriend card and how can it be declined. They just didnt want to honor their price. Lol buyer beware would never order from them. Ordered from amazon and got it in 2 days... musiciansfriend is fake and buyer beware,
Bought a 2020 Epiphone LP studio wine red guitar, well that's what I didn't get. Insteed I got a 2011 Epiphone LP studio worn cherry. O yeah I called them up, was redericted to guitar center in Boston where it shipped from, well I'll say this from the twoconversation I've had with musician's Friend and guitar center I'll not even try and straighten this out, trust when I say to you here, you are far more better off doing your business else where. Les headache and agrovation, look and see what is being said about companies. Be better off all a round. Niether well ever get my business again, yes be posted on other social media plat forms, and any where else I can post this sorry business practice, what got me is this. They admitted sending me the wrong item. Know it but didn't contact me over it. Did nothing to try make it right. So I'm out at least $225 in the price difference between guitars not to mention 11year age difference between them, which it was even in a case made for a totally different guitar and it looks auful.so know don't recommend this two out fits at all. Thanks and be ware do your homework
Title says it all. I ordered Marshall dsl40 at full price and got a scuffed up floor model from a guitar center. It's been 72 days and I can't get my points. Every time I call they say they have no record of my complaint. The only reason I gave M. F. a chance was because they use UPS for free. Sweetwater uses Fedex for free but they delivered 2 broken dsl40s, one with a cracked baffle and the 2nd with a shattered tube. UPS got it to me in one piece after losing it for 9 days. I've given up on buying new gear that prices jump up every other day. Been going old school with adds & FB yard sale. Forgot how exciting it was to run out and see new places & people.
Went online to purchase a Marshall DSL40CR because they showed that they had plenty of brand new amps in stock. I also paid over $100 for overnight shipping as I needed a combo amp quickly. The following day I got online to take a look at the tracking and they were showing an issue with the order. I searched in my account and saw that they were going to send me a floor demo model from Cherry Hill New Jersey from one of their guitar center places and it had cosmetic damage to it and it would not arrive in the original packaging nor in the time I paid for! They offered no discount, they offered no explanation for why they lied, and they are refusing to help assist in releasing the hold that the bank has put on the money that they originally took for this purchase. I'm looking at 14 business days to get my money back that was taken for a product they knew that they didn't possess at the time that I made the transaction. They willingly engage in bait and switch, and they also engage in unfair and deceptive trade practices. Their customer service is incompetent and extremely rude and if there was a way to put a negative star I would do it. This has gotten to the point of me contacting my attorney, the county attorney as well as the state Attorney General's office in North Carolina. Avoid these people no matter what.
Ordered a piece of gear from Musicians Friend, and 5 days later had not received any tracking number or shipment information. Logged into my account and order showed as processing. Chatted with a customer service rep that indicated my item was due to arrive at my home in three days. I asked for a tracking number and was disconnected. Contacted another representative that indicated the item had not shipped and to wait 5-8 days for tracking. Indicated my item would likely arrive on 28th of month (I ordered on the 14th). I'd suggest if you are looking for something quick, go elsewhere (Sweetwater or ZZounds). If you Google reviews for shipping / musicians friend, you'll see this is a problem with them. Ordered my item elsewhere for the same total price, and got free 2 day shipping (I paid for shipping at Musicians Friend by the way which is why I'm shocked at their inability to ship in a reasonable time frame.
Their site stated that they had my item in stock but a day after taking my payment I received a "template" email saying their count was off and that it was on backorder. I called their customer service and the support person was not very helpful or apathetic. He said the site said it was in stock because they had 1 in stock, but not two. Wrong. He said the one they had in stock was on its way to me, so the count should now be zero. I just went back to their site and started the order process and it say "In Stock". These guys are either full of crap or have the worst inventory control system. Don't trust them.
I ordered a gibson montana gold acoustic electric guitar it came damaged the case had a big hole in it and the guitar had a small indent in it and it was the wrong guitar at the it was supposed to be acoustic - electric but was only acoustic and they made it hard to work with still dealling with them to make things right. At 6700. 00 you should get what you ordered in undamaged condition.
I purchased the Allora ATS-450 Vienna Series Tenor Saxophone Lacquer Lacquer Keys as a birthday gift for my boyfriend on January 2 with free shipping. It arrived on January 4! We opened the box and was so impressed with this beauty! I had this sax in my cart with a discount code applied but by the time I pulled the trigger, it had expired. I was hesitant due to recent reviews I had read and it was a substantial purchase. The person I spoke to was understanding and assured me all would be well and for those who are hesitant too, Covid has shaken all industries with supply issues, personnell issues, everyone working so hard and short staffed, things happen especially in this climate and no industry is immune to these facts. I placed my order over the phone and this person was trustworthy, knowledeable, friendly, professional and went the extra mile to help me get closer to my budget. In addition he assured me that I would be happy with my purchase and he was SO right! The smile on my boyfriends face when he opened this gift was priceless and the hours and hours to come of him playing and me listening to him play, will be even more priceless! Thank you Musicians Friend! You made new friends in us and we highly recommend you to anyone looking for musical instruments and accessories!
I bought Rico plasticover reeds, bg swabs, and some cork grease for my saxophone. 2 Packages arrived, 1 for the body swab, and the other for the cork grease reeds and neck swab. The 2nd package, unfortunately, was damaged at the top of the box but all the items came in perfect condition.
So my wife bought me a guitar for Christmas. We paid $20 to have it overnighted to arrive in time. This was allegedly a new Les paul studio limited edition wine red with gold trim on sale. I searched for 2 months looking for a guitar and fell in love with this one. It arrived on time and I opened it. Words can not express how I felt when I opened the box and discovered they had sent me a used guitar wrapped in bubble wrap stuffed in a box.
I removed the bubble wrap to find a very filthy guitar. A severely scratched pick guard. Scratched up pickups. Fingerprints all over it and severely scratched front and back. Wow this is what I get for buying a guitar in this price range. They offered to give me $50 dollars off the price. And I said no way in hell. Buyer beware. No paperwork or anything included. I will never shop there again in my lifetime. Wow merry Christmas to me
It's very simple…. I've purchased six items from musicians friend in the last year and five of them were damaged. That's not a coincidence…. They sell garbage products. Do not buy from musicians friend!
Worst customer service. Website sucks. Consistent harassments from salesmen. Just horrible. There are tons of reputable places to by your gear. I promise you. You will regret shopping here. You have been warned!

So I got a set of Seymour Duncan pickups only to find the neck pickup was bad (no reading across the south coil). Ok I returned them but they sent me the same ones back? The plastic box has identical scuff marks and its even more smashed up this time. Bad neck pickup, no reading on the south coil. Hmm I'll eat the loss this time but will not do business with MF again. It's a shame too because I've been a customer since 2009.
Service/Delivery Comments - Garbage! The container is all smashed up because it was put in a bag not a box. A middle school soccer team only using their feet could have gotten it to me in better condition.
