RUN! REFY! Rebel!
January 4, 2022

ZERO STARS! ZERO STARS! ZERO STAR! This company for truly lack of a better word "SUCKS" Problem resolution almost nonexistent and your gonna really have to work hard at ensuring your request is complete. Getting a callback as prompted is a joke! Just to get you off the line. As the call back service has only worked once in the many times I tried to desperately resolve issues, I did a refy just to avoid the next headache (surprise)
Sad for the poor people who work there!

I sent two checks to them for house payments and they said they didn't get either of them. So I cancelled the checks and I did an electronic xfer for two grand. They found one of the checks, cashed it, and basically did exactly what I didn't want them to do: cash those checks. They knew that or rather one person there knew that and the info didn't get passed on. What a worthless outfit.

Needs Major Improvements
December 27, 2021

My loan was bought by Mr. Cooper from Cenlar. I was happy with the service and the website portal and decided to refinance my loan with Mr. Cooper. The process was disorganized and very slow. It took about three months to collect documents and get the loan ready. My processor was Seleta Jones with Mr. Cooper - disorganized and unresponsive. We were finally on track to close on Dec. 1st, 2021, when they called me in the morning of the closing to tell me that they had sold my loan to Rocket Mortgage on the day of my closing. Seleta had no idea this was going on. I had a choice at that point, to start the refinance all over again with the new company or choose to go back to Mr. Cooper and refinance. The only issue of going back to Mr. Copper, now I would have to come up with the tax payment of $15,000 in cash. So, I decided to refinance with the new company Rocket Mortgage. I am still trying to collect the fees I paid to Mr. Cooper even though they caused the loan refinance issues. I would definitely not recommend Mr. Cooper if possible to go with another company.

I originally got my mortgage refinanced through Better Mortgage and they sold it to Mr Cooper. I am really happy with their service as well as transparency of their website. The call wait time for them is also not bad. I can get a whole view of how much loan is pending as well as get an estimate of how early I can pay it off with some extra cash paid every month. After some extra principal payments, I can also see the updated time of my loan early closing. I really wanted to put this review here as I see a lot of negative reviews and somehow I haven't got that kind of experience with them.

The mr. Cooper folks were a combination of incompetent, deceptive and obtuse.
The refi process consumed our lives for weeks and weeks and would have had to improve considerably be considered a cluster f**k. In retrospect, paying more money, for a longer period of time would have been a more desirable outcome. Consider yourself warned.

Had a mortgage loan with Nationstar mortgage. Then they changed their name to Mr. Cooper. In September 2018 I refinanced my home loan with a bank.

July 2021 I received notification from Nationstar mortgage that there was a refund check made out to me that was never cashed. Lack of a reply on my part meant my money would be put in unclaimed funds in Ohio. So I responded in August 2021 and received a confirmation email from Nationstar.

The letter stated Nationstar would begin issuing checks November 1,2021 and a replacement check would be sent (not received) 8 to 10 weeks after November 1st. This time frame is not reasonable. I do not consider Mr Cooper to be a reputable business. The check should have been reissued long ago. How much interest are they making off uncashed checks like mine.

Called the number provided on the letter and it goes to voice mail.

Called Mr. Cooper customer service. There was a 10 minute wait. 35 minutes later still waiting for a callback. They might not have said you won't lose your place in line because apparently I did.

My first experience with this company 3 years ago was a nightmare. No one would get back with you hard to close underwriting was a chore to deal with. So I was very apprehensive of doing this again. But they put out an advertisement saying quick and easy and it's nothing but a lie. In the process of looking at another lending institution quicken loans loan Depot somebody's got to be much better to deal with.

My mortgage was bought by Mr. Cooper a year ago. They did not handle the escrow account correctly and the city charged $500 plus in late fees, penalty and interest. Mr. Cooper refuses to pay for these. In addition they erroneous calculated my reassessment with double the tax rate resulting in an increase of $560 a month. This took months to correct and many phone calls and emails. I've owned a home for over 30 years, these are the worst people to deal with.

Incompetent
November 30, 2021

I have been on biweekly auto pay payments since May of 2020. Remember their logo, "Set it and forget it". I get a notice that my account is delinquent. They were no longer taking drafts from my account? This is a busy month and I wasn't paying attention to my drafts. They were going to charge me late fees and God forbid they would report a late payment to the credit bureau! Was on the phone for just under two hours to find out they had been diverting my payments to my principal without my knowledge/approval! Several people have complained as well about this same issue, which has been going on for who knows how long. The reviews are very concerning, and I would consider another company to be safe. The staff have been cordial, but it is time consuming and problems are difficult to get resolved if they ever do. You talk to several people trying to explain over and over the same information! They keep repeating the same mistakes with different customers. I see how they could cheat or steal from people who are not paying close attention or not savory with numbers or the internet. I do hope my problem gets solved, however I am not convinced. If you have to stay with them, please monitor your account closely because I do not feel this is an overall honest company. Read the reviews for yourself to see if u have a similar problem. They say one thing a do another. From the beginning I wasn't feeling their true honesty and customer service was bad then. I should have gone with my gut feeling. Wishing you all well.

Super knowledgeable Crooks
November 24, 2021

Mr. Cooper purchased out my home loan from my previous lender and my first payment is 12/1. I was looking to refinance, so I reached out to them to see if they could since they already seemingly did the legwork. While they did offer me a better rate, their closing costs were over $10,000! That's insane for someone who already has the loan and it's a refinance. It was over 3 points just to refinance. Safe to say I'm going to my bank that has zero origination costs saving me over $8,000.

I do not think I have ever dealt with such an incompetant unit as the Mr Cooper Homeowners and Homeowners Escrow Department.

For the last several years, I had to make multiple phone calls, as did my agent, to Mr Cooper to get them to pay Stafford Insurance in Fall River. The way my home was insured they had to make 2 payments. This totally confused them year after year even though we wasted countless minutes on the phone explaining it to them.

So, in order to eliminate the confusion, I was able to cancel the escrow payments so I could handle matters on my own. In August of 2021 I made a payment of approx $3000 to Stafford Insurance. My agent faxed all the needed information to Mr. Cooper and to the fax number the department told her to use.

My reward, Mr Cooper! They are going to bill me $2900 because they say I have not provided proof of insurance.

We have contacted them several times stating I have full coverage and that we have sent the documents they requested. So here we are, "This is your final notice." I have 3 jobs, I own 4 houses, and I have two children. I am so tired of wasting what little free time I have trying to settle issues such as this. These people are totally incometant!

I spent several weeks attempting to have them accept my Hartford Insurance policy. In the process they said I was not an owner of the property, I had no insurance, I changed my name (wife's actual name) and that they would not talk to me because I was not an authorized owner.

Insulting to say the least, when I was told that the Customer service person would not talk to me, I asked for a supervisor. Told One would call within 72 hours, after 100 hours I called again only to have them start lying about our Loan and insurance, They did not have knowledge that a Deed is the best ownership document, they did not know what a deed of Trust was (similar to a Mortgage) and believed the promissory note WAS an ownership document. They are terrible to talk to as they lie about dates and documents.
Going thru a refinance is so hard to stand, I would rather be hit by a baseball bat. I don't want to refinance but I don't want the liars from Mr. Cooper to handlle my Loan. They have numerous financial proplems including possible theft of consumers funds.

Worst company ever!
November 12, 2021

My bank sold my loan to these clowns a couple months ago... I had no say in it! I made the mistake of trying to do a recast with them... 3 months later... no recast. However they did let me know that I "qualify" for a home warranty! I told the girl I would rather have bamboo shoots up my finger nails than buy anything from them!

Horrible Experience
November 8, 2021

Had many issues with Mr. Cooper before I recently sold the property. Closed on the 1st of the month. Mr. Cooper took out an additional payment on the 3rd. Tried to call for a resolution buy I can't get a live human w/o an account number. My account's been closed and the numbers purged from their system so I have no "valid" account number. No way to talk to a live person.

Worst company ever
November 6, 2021

When loancare sold my loan to mr cooper I had such a headache and my stomach hurt so bad. I went on forbearance for 6 months and after which time got a loan modification (sucky one at that, up'd the term from 30 years to 40 year same high interest rate) thought I was ready to move on with my life until I made my first month payment. My payment is $1300, paid in full on the first day it was due Oct 1st. But my account was still showing a balance of $900 for October? I called and chatted with many uncaring customer service people all with a different explanation though most recognizing it was an error and it would be fixed as long as I sit on my $#*! and wait. It has still not been resolved and mr cooper sent the credit reporting agencies negative late payment information. My stellar credit score took a deep nose dive thanks to these incompenent thieves even though I've been all over it and pro actively asking for this to be fixed/resolved. This was just the first payment, I wonder what it will happen to the second payment, third, 480th... Please sell my loan to anyone else please!

I wasn't sure about the forbearance plan but they said it would just pause my payments. I made some payments while I was on it. I paid $122,000.00 five years ago for this house. When I went to get off the forbearance they got me for $126,000.00 in a modification plus the past due escrow. They said that the unapplied amount of $657.00 would be there for my first payment and I would only have to come up with the difference. I went to make a payment and the $657.00 is gone. It's like the last 5 years of payment never happened. The department that handle this refused to call me back, they refused to answer my emails. They just waited me out till I signed or foreclosed. They didn't tell me that I could not refi or get an equity loan while in forbearance. So they know I would be trapped and would have to pay the extra. This is how they are worth $6 billion dollars. Ripping people off. I can't wait till the 3 months goes by so I can refi and get away from them for good. They both my loan from chase bank. No one let me know. So thank chase bank for doing business with thieves.
