My husband who is a retired disabled AirForce Veteran recieved a call from a Mr. Cooper employee stating they had not recieved our mortgage payment in April. After some investigating his bank found out that the check was indeed cashed and deposited in the employees Wells Fargo bank account. We are currently filing a police report and thanks to our bank we have the name, address, and bank account the check was deposited in fraudulently. Watch out for the employees that work for this company. They are stealing money! We no longer trust this company at all!

I have been a customer for about four years, they send me emails all the time about stuff including when they receive my payment, in March I misplaced my bill and forgot all about it, when I received my April bill it had two months owed, plus the penalty, which I wrote a check right away. I was wondering why they never sent an email reminder? So this month I am getting notes from a firm that protects my identity that they did notify all the credit bureaus that my payment was delinquent WHY COULDN"T THEY HAVE JUST GAVE ME A REMINDER

It's a SCAM
April 30, 2020

My mortgage originated with Bank Of America. It was sold to these creeps. I sent a mortgage payment at the beginning of one month - only to have Mr. Cooper pretend that I didn't send it. To make matters worse, "Mr. Cooper" decided to extort that money from me, and kept my credit score hostage. In the meantime, I recieved all sorts of very questionable collection phone calls, and no promise to withhold cashing the earlier check in consideration for the payment I arranged online. This is not a legit organization. If your mortgage lender sells to these jerks, CHANGE LENDERS IMMEDIATELY. Not kidding, this organization is a sick joke set up for the purpose of robbing you.

Another update, class action way to go
April 26, 2020
Updated review

Start with Dallas Morning News Article from 3/29/18, gist is name change didn't change anything. You will also get a couple of pictures of top executives celebrating name change at NSE, and Bray and his flunky congratulating themselves of their market wizardry of changing name.
More helpful are stories of lawsuits, particularly Mr Harmon an engineer from TX suing them for 10 million. They foreclosed on him claiming he hadn't paid taxes, but he had, had proof and was never late on anything. Remember this is a blood sport. Many more like him. Go to YELP for horror story after horror story.
They managed to be the first 10 answers if you just google them- DONT BOTHER READING ANYTHING THAT HAS MR COOPER OR NATIONSTAR AS ITS ORIGINAL SOURCE, JUST PROPAGANDA.
Politicians love to talk about middle class, working folks etc, but we know that's horsewomen poo right? From what I've seen only New York has sued them as a state, but I'm just beginning this f. G rabbit hole.
People pay off mortgages just to get away from Mr Cooper, (btw start calling them that so they get as many negatives as Nationstar online), guess what happens-that's right Mr Cooper then reports them as over 30 days late on their mortgage, screwing up their credit.
Looks like pressuring politicians, Stare AG's to go after them and finding a good Law Firm for a massive class action is the best way to slow their roll.

Follow up on Nationstar/Mr Cooper
April 24, 2020
Previous review

Look up stockholders of Nationstar, they consist of about 20 individuals and 6 hedge funds. Start complaining -emailing to them about disastrous operations of Nationstar.
Amar R Patel, Anthony L Evers, Brett Hawkins, Chad Patton, David C Hisey, Fid Lou B He Blkr LLC, ( and its many cute iterations to avoid taxes), Harold G Lewis, the contemptible Jesse K Bray Kal Raman and several others.
These are Bray's bosses. If you really want to stand up for the " little guy" this is one way. Brady's workers don't mean anything to him. The more complaints he gets the better. His job is to squeeze home owners. His customer service people are using a script to be ready for any angle hardship with the goal of more $ for Bray and CO, for which the customer service workers get bonuses. It's a blood sport.
But Bray's bosses don't want there money making days interrupted by irate homeowners bombarding their emails.
By law all the information is on the Internet. So there's that. The squeaky wheel gets the grease Good luck.

Mr Cooper purchased my Mortgage from the preferred lender of my builder about three months after we closed. I have gone three years with no late payments and everything was ok. Then the global pandemic hits and I lost my income for 12 weeks like most of the country. After days of trying to reach some one, yes they automated system either said the were busy and hung up or you waited for at least over 3-4 hours to talk to someone.
With that said the only help they will give you is 3 months of forbearance, then you have to pay the full amount. How is that helpful?
Since then they have also been changing the wording on there site to make it seem a little more helpful, but it's the same response. They added a grey area of "might" be able to move payments till the end of the term, but that's after you have applied, and all your equity is in there hands.
Beware of any of this, switch lenders if u can, if not try and find another way away from this company. They are looking to capitalize in people's time of need like in 2008.

Money hungry.
April 7, 2020

Since Corona has hit, most of us have fallen on a bit of hard times. I applied for the forbearance plan. Got approved but it's a utter SCAM and design to hurt you. They are making you pay in FULL the moment its done after 3 months, instead of adding it on to the end of your cycle like other companies. Well if I'm out of work cause of this how can i pay in full after? This company doesn't care and they make it very clear

Customer Service
April 6, 2020

The employees do not care or have any empathy for customers. I have called several time to pay my monthly fee, have been on a 3-persons phone call with my bank and Mr. Coopers escalation department. They somehow cannot find the account after verifying all of my information with the bank directly. My bank is Nusenda Credit Union, one of the best out there. No customer representative has cared to solve the issue and only care about adding fees so that they can collect more money. I have sufficient fund in the account, they say they do not take Debit card payments anymore but I was able to process one in February with no problem. That would make my nightmare of talking to people who don't care go away. They would have my money! I'm literally just trying to give them my money and they will not process my payment. They simply do not care that I have struggled and had many inconveniences with their service, app, and online website.

HORRIBLE!
April 3, 2020

I just wanted to tell my experience with Mr. Cooper. I have lost my job due to Coronoirus. I called Mr. Cooper on Friday. I was on hold with them for over 6 hours. When they finally came on the line, the first thing I asked if they had my phone number, and would repeat it back to me. I wanted to make sure that they could call me back if we got disconnected. They said that there was really nothing they could do for me. I asked about the forbearance, for some reason that was not an option for me. She said I could try to apply for a modification. I am not sure how that is going to be possible. We have lost half of our income, our bills outweigh our money. So I started to cry because I was upset. SHE HUNG UP ON ME!

I realize it's a challenging time and hold times are longer then usual. However, after 60min hold with no option for call back for holding your place in line, I was finally able to talk to a representative that showed no empathy for our situation. My husband has a compromised lung problem and was put on medical leave from employer on 3/18/20 as I explained our situation and worried about mortgage payment I was told we'd have to provide several documents including Disability form, which haven't even been processed yet because it's taking longer to work with EDD and doctors office. She said we had to provide documentation with 2-3 business days after submitting application and no guarantee we would even be approved for there forbearance program. This only adds more stress to our already stressful situation. Horrible for Mr. Cooper to expect such a quick turnaround and in the meantime the clock is ticking and we can fall further behind. I am applaud at the lack of understanding this company provides to it's customer. Almost as if setting us up for failure. Shame on them and are they even complaining with the regulations for distressed home owners?

My experience with mr cooper is a (pooper)! I am over 50 years old, owned many homes, had many loans over the years, never before have I ever deal with such a bad mortgage company. My original mortgage company sold the loan to them, it wouldn't be my choice to choose mr cooper.

In the past 2 years, I've must have tried calling them for misc things about 3-4 time, not once I was ever able to get any live person on the phone. Wasted at least 30 to 45 minutes of my time! Are there any real human working there?

And now, it's impossible due to COVID-19. It would be nice to speak to someone about my current loan with them.

In light, of the devastation occurring from COVID-19 AKA Coronavirus. MR COOPER formerly Nation star mortgage only will give you an option of forbearance. In a nutshell, I can reduce or eliminate my mortgage up to 6 months. When that time is over I have to pay my regular amount and create a payment plan to catch up on all the amounts I missed during the forbearance period. My mortgage is high enough I don't need to increase how much I'm paying to catch up. Its a debt snowball and a slippery slope waiting to happen, or serious financial hardship. I will just use my IRA to pay my mortgage since I won't be penalized by the government for tapping into the funds.

Shady business
March 26, 2020

My loan was sold to Mr cooper. Initially I didnt mind. 2 months into having them I am told my escrow is in the negative by $3,000. This is very odd to me considering I've paid the same amount and last year I got an overpayment check of $2000. My last company said I was not in the negative at all. I'm still trying to research and figure out how this can be. My payment went up by $250. This is only our 2nd year in our home!
Then last month I noticed that on THEIR website there is a feature where you can pay a partial payment. I planned to pay half and in 2 weeks pay the other half. I still would have been 2 weeks early from when it was due. So I submitted the payment. Instead of paying half my payment it went to principle only payment. I am furious about this because on their website there is a spot where you can do principle only. That is not what I used. I clicked the spot that said "partial payment" the remainder of your payment will still be due before the due date"
I emailed them and they just kept telling me they didnt care and then would close out the email. They are the worst. I'm trying to figure out how I can get my mortgage sold to someone else. I am over this.

Total disappointment
March 26, 2020

I've been calling Mr Cooper for over a week, and they don't answer calls. It is important to get these people on a phone line about my mortgage. I understand with the Coronavirus crises in the US. This is getting redicoulas. A week and a half has gone by and no return calls. I'm contemplating a different mortgage company.
