If you take your device to Microsoft store for tech support, ask many, many questions before you take it back. Also turn it on & make them show you that they have actually taken care of the problem. Do not leave without making sure that they have done what they said they would do, and that you can actually access your account & device.
I let my Surface on Friday, and picked it up today at Tyson's Corner. The tech proudly told me how the device was now reset & refreshed. He also stated that it should not need updates for a few days. Unfortunately, they had not actually made sure that it was current on updates. Even worse, he did not disable the PIN that they had set on it for their use while working on it. Later in the afternoon when I needed my Surface, I could not sign in without the PIN. In addition, the device needed 35 immediate updates, and the battery was at 25%. That is how my Surface was returned to me after two days with the Microsoft store tech support. I called the store while the device was updating, and the tech who answered assured me that I would have no problem re activating my password in the "sign in options" of the log in page. Meantime, the updates used all the battery life, and I was left w/o access to the device until I was able to recharge it again hours later. Of course, the tech was wrong, and I have been unable to log in to my Surface. It won't allow me to change the log in options. By now, the store is closed since it is Sunday. So I called Microsoft. That was another exercise in futility & added to my frustration. I found the automated phone system to be circular & unsophisticated. After 20+ minutes (and four calls) trying to get it to understand my name and move me to a tech, I selected billing option. After ten minutes on hold, I wasted 35 minutes talking with a billing representative, Mel, who could not help & refused to let me speak to a manager. He simply apologized for the fact that phone tech support is already closed, and he suggested that I call them tomorrow during business hours. Instead of a manager, he offered to give me a website to log my complaint.
So, it was time to renew my office 365 subscription. I chatted with a sales rep on their store site about the best deal, and settled on a deal where i buy a tablet and get office for one year plus a $25 gift card, for only $15 more than just getting office alone. They sent the tablet, but not the office key or the gift card. And when I contacted them, I was told that I needed to repurchase office separately even tho my order confirmation clearly lists it as included. SO PISSED OFF!
They provided what I ordered from website, I recommend them.
I ordered a phone from Microsoft Store & within 2 months it developed faults. I spent ages being sent from one number to another, being constantly put on hold, being told to call other numbers, being put through to rude & unprofessional robotic style representatives. I had to give up in the end, i am now left with a phone thats not working & microsoft have washed their hands of it. My advice is simple "Avoid Purchasing Anything From The Microsoft Store." Truly appalling from start to finish..
There is no way of cancelling an order online. At least have a live chat feature! Useless website, I don't even understand it's existence.
"Shopping at Microsoftstore is like buying a 1980 online store. I want to purchase 2 Surface Pro 3 bundle. But, I can only buy one at a time and you can't increase the quantity. When I tried to use my credit card to pay for my order it failed. So, I used my Paypal account to make the purchase, it didn't give me an option to log into my Paypal account to change my payment method to credit card. It just charged to my Paypal account and took the money off my checking account. So, I called and try to cancel my orders. I was told I have to wait 4-6 hours before I can cancel my order. So, I called back 6 hours later then I was told I have to they need to wait until the tracking number before I can stop the shipping of the packages and now I have to wait for 24-48 hours and call back again to get my refund. Once again, I called back 48 hours later and I see they deducted $3510 off my checking account at the point. Now, I was told there is nothing they can do to get my refund except wait for the escalation team to get back with me. This is could take up to 7 business days before I can hear back from them and the floor manager told me "don't worry about it we will refund your money". Are you kidding me! Don't worry about it?"
I brought my one year old laptop to the Microsoft Store because it was not turning on. The tech associate told me the problem and said they would replace my laptop and it would take 3 - 5 days, and I would receive a phone call updating me on the status of the order. After 5 days and not hearing anything, I called them and they said they were waiting for an approval for a piece of the computer. A week later I called and they were waiting for the same approval. Finally a week after that I called and they said to come in and pick a new computer because they no longer sold my computer... it took them 3 weeks to realize they no longer sold the computer. I came in and they had nothing similar to my laptop, so they said they would order it from the business support department. Another week goes by, I call them, and they don't even know about my issue! They then said they would look into it and call me in a week... it has been a month now, they still have my laptop, and there is no sign of me getting a new laptop.
I have never encountered support service this terrible in my life. I purchased the 2 year Microsoft Store warranty and I have received zero support.
Have to give it one star. Was simply trying to purchase and activate pre-installed Office on a new computer. Even after the charge showed on my credit card account, the store did not (and could not through Chat or phone) send activation code until "authorization" review had been completed by accounting, but accounting wasn't open.
Then after receiving code and following all the annoying steps, Office still would not activate.
Long story short: avoid this site unless you want a quick trip back to the 1970s. Ante-diluvian in all respects. Possibly the worst online site I've ever dealt with.
Terrible. UPS lost the shipment. UPS has accepted and issued this to Microsoft. Microsoft support acknowledges and promises to call me back in 24 hours to issue a new order. It's been 11 days. I have called back 6 times. No one has contacted me back. No email no phone call.
The support experience is outstandingly bad. There is no way to speak to anyone that can actually do something. The first line of support can easily be replaced with an auto attendant. It's THAT BAD. Then at the end of every failed attempt to get support the agent asks "Is there something else I can help you with?"
Really? I just told you that I didn't receive what I ordered and paid for. What else would I need?
The person in charge of setting up this support process at Microsoft needs to be fired immediately. It's completely ridiculous. It's actually worse than not having a human answer.
I bought a cheap i5 touchscreen laptop on BlackFriday, but 6 days later it still not ship out, I ask the online support twice, they said the just provide technology support, they don't have the tool to check it, just give me the useless store phone number, and then no reply me again.
OK, I call the *******786 line, after a long long auto reply, said they are busy, I have two choice, watis for call back, keep waitting. No call back till now and I've ever chioce waiting somebody answer me 20 min.
Finally, I write a email ask for refund but no reply now.
DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. Their website and customer service are so lacking I spent over 10 hours on the site and phone but still did not end up with the tablet I wanted. Their customer service representatives have no accountability and lack basic training. I was hung up on twice, misquoted prices and they messed up the transaction so many times four different credit cards were locked out. They told me they would call be back within two hours to resolve my issue, I never received that call. I am so completely disgusted that I decided to get an entirely different tablet just to avoid future dealings with them.
I ordered games for xbox360 on Black Friday. Star Wars Kinect for $9.99. Microsoft store cancelled the order due to oversell, and still charged me the full amount on my card. When calling, I was assured they did not charge me the extra for the cancelled order... bank account says otherwise. Not good business to oversell, then cancel on customers during the Christmas season. Its 2 weeks later, I am scrambling for the game, and have to pay $40 more for it. Dont purchase through the website. Terrible customer service.
My experience with m Microsoft store has been good in past. But the recent hack in their system has Left me a little worried.
I dont think my credentials are safe.
Switch to Linux.
I ordered my Dell laptop and an HP wireless printer from the microsoft store. Both arrived in a timely manner. The great thing about my experience with this site was that they were running promotions for these items and I saved a substantial amount of money on both of these products. Hint: this is where the deal of the day sites come in handy. Didn't have any issues from ordering-through payment- to receiving on my doorstep.
Bought software via the download method. It was not the smoothest purchase of this nature in my memory although I finally got it downloaded and activated. I believe I will stay away from the download method of purchase. I like the good old 'CD in the mail' method.
I bought windows vista from a website that claimed to be selling OEM software for a cheap price and I fell for it hook line and sinker. I installed it and then got the message that it would not register through MS. Turns out I bought a fake copy of it and MS knew it and I could not get my money back from the site which was later shut down. Now when I buy MS software I found the best place is just to do it from microsoft itself. The prices are all the same. If you go to Dell or any other site you can see the price of any windows upgrade or office is always the same so you might as well play it safe and just buy it from microsoft and stop worrying you are getting the real software of if they license key will work. If you buy from here you can at least call microsoft and they can make sure it works!
