Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

I contacted your customer service twice today, the first call was disconnected, so I thought, the second time when I asked to talk to a supervisor in the USA I was told match.com only has call centers in the Dominican Republic then I was hung up on after requesting to speak with someone from the US. I sighing up for a 1 month trial with match in June after that month I called and canceled, come to find out I've been charged every month since! I feel deceived and stolen from.
I joined match last January with a 3 month subscription. I was under the impression that I would only be paying for three months but I was wrong. I am at fault for not reading the fine print which states that match.com will continue to renew my subscription until I indicate that I want it cancelled. I am also at fault for missing the first charge on my card. They do not send an email or notify you that your subscription is being renewed. When I spoke to the customer service representative about receiving a refund, he confirmed that the last time I had been on the site was in April ( 2 1/2 months after joining) I havn't signed on in the last 6 months because I was under the impression that the 3 months that I had payed for was up. I have subsequently been charged over $150 by match.com when I havn't been using the site. The only thing the CSR could do for me was refund me for one month($20). I wouldn't be surprised if match.com has made millions off of people this way. I can't imagine having to live with myself if I were one of the higher ups deciding to fool their customers. But hey, its business and they will do anything to exploit people and their pocketbooks.
I've tried a ton of free dating apps for a while and toyed with using a paid site to see if the experience would be any better. I registered with Match for free, they'd send regular email matches and I began favouriting them as a free subscriber.
After a couple of months I decided to fork out for a subscription, with the minimum three month commitment. I went to my favourites page to start messaging some people and to my alarm every single one of them wasn't an active user. Obviously Match don't make this clear as a free subscriber. Whether these are genuine former users or fake users Match make up I don't know, but of the active available users were not one was of the calibre I'm interested in dating. Clearly match.com and I have very different values.
Obviously I spoke to customer services the next day. Obviously they flatly refused to refund even part of the $90 I've paid for three months of service I'm not interested in using. Sounds like I'm not the only person who's had this experience. The Better Business Bureau has revoked their accreditation and given the business and F rating because of over 450 unanswered complaints about their billing policies. (Google it: I can't post a link here.)
My advice - search online for a three-day trial offer before you consider giving these people any money. Maybe you'll connect with the people on the site in a way I didn't, but at least you'll know before you hand over any money. Alternatively, get yourself to a bar, start meeting people in real life and spend that $90 you'll have saved on a great night out.
The site offers another 6 months free but there are almost unattainable requirements attached. One requirement is that you have to find 5 matches a month and then you have to send those 5 email. It's hard to find 5 matches a month because of income, physical attraction, education, etc.
The worst men use Match. I didn't even make it a date. The site give false claims about getting your money back after 6 months but there is specific criteria you must meet to get a refund and then when your account is renewed (without telling you) they refuse to give you your money back if you've sent one email to someone. If you are a serial killer, like bros, men who look 15, are socially awkward or just all around unattractive then match.com is the place for you!
NoStringsAttaxhed.com --I cant believe another site ranked NoStringsAttached.com in the top three sites. The free membership is nothing more than you giving them your info to boost their active member numbers. Heres the meat and potatoes, you cant send or answer messages, you cant view member profiles (to see when they were last active) you cant view member photos, you cant see who viewed your profile! WTF!?! This site has more rules than daycare! Save your money and head over to Gleeden.com which is my next review!
I followed all of the site's regulations and the site's "administrators" blocked me from use. The website disclaimer reads that they can terminate your membership at any time without a refund, but when I asked why I was blocked, their explanation was, "We believe this action to be in the best interests of our community." I posted nothing inappropriate and I used real photos that were approved by the "administrators." The Match.com fees are outrageously high and clearly they have no interest in maintaining any kind of customer loyalty. With hundreds of competitors out there, my suggestion is to avoid Match.com.
This is actually a dangerous site. It's filled with scam artists and fake profiles. I complained multiple times, but they don't seem to do anything to clean things up. The quality of matches is extremely low and the majority weren't even in the US as they claimed. If there was ever a site ripe for a court required shutdown, this is it.
Match never refunds! They will take your money and run. Credit card companies won't help you either. Yes there are real people on the site. There are many fakes or unregistered so you can't even really contact them. I canceled my subscription but still had to wait 41 days until it was over. During this time I never got more email and winks then during any other time that I was on the site. Think they were generated by match. After my subscription was over I still received emails, winks, and matches like I never canceled my account. So I went back to my page to see why I was still getting all this. I was looking through my profile when I got a email from Match that they were thankful I renewed my subscription. I was like what? Then I instantly tried to cancel but every form of contact I tried to Match said it was not working. There was no way for me to contact them. I quickly called my credit card company and they said I couldn't my charge because it hadn't gone through! Which is another topic MBNA credit cards suck! Matches contact finally came back on two days later. I sent many a email and kept asking question to get refund. They stay with same line. Match does not refund! So I will cancel my credit card in hopes that credit card companies maybe get the picture that these kind of charges should not be excepted from companies such as this.
IF ANYONE IS CONSIDERING GOING ON MATCH.COM, DON'T.
It is the worst company. I didn't want to renew my subscription and when the time was up it charged my card on file the full amount and I did not even realize till it was too late. I called and was told they don't give refunds. This is how they make money. I am certain I cancelled my subscription in time but was still charged. I have cancelled it again and will now contact my bank to make sure it doesn't happen again. I will never use this company again and make sure I let others know there are better sites then match.com
My photo was not approved. I was in a black belt magazine and I have a picture of myself hitting a target. It is a beautiful picture and they said it was too violent to post. I wanted that picture up! There is absolutely nothing violent about that picture
I receive an email saying I could sign up for a 72 hour free trial with all emailing privileges and then would be billed afterwards if I didn't cancel. I sign up and send out an email and I'm billed thru Paypal for a 3 month subscription. I contact Match.com and they say I had automatic billing turned on and they turned it off, but would not refund me for the 3 months that I was just charged for. I explain how it was supposed to be a 72 hour free trial, and they say they don't issue refunds. I'm now disputing the charge with Paypal, but wanted to get it out there what a fraud they are!
Since writing this, Paypal did credit me the amount charged after disputing the charge with them. Love Paypal, hate match.com
Match.com SUCKS!
2 months there, and I the only women I was able to talk to, they where in Africa and asking me to send them money. The rest of them, to proud to even notice you or even get to know you.
To expensive for nothing... You want a date, mingle in your community, or in your local church. Meetup.com helps a lot, and its free...
Unauthorized charges will be met with a "no return policy". Their 6 month "guarantee" has a lot of fine print, which they will claim that you "don't qualify" - so don't make the same mistake - cancel your subscription after initial payment or be charged whenever they want!
They suck you in, wont let you delete you profile and rack up unwanted charges on your account. You can cancel but not get a refund, even if it was set up by accident (thought it was a free trial). HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do not use this site. Id be more likely to recommend TINDR than this crap.
Essentially. The odds are stacked against you if you are a guy as most of the users are male. The only way it works is if you are in the top 5% of looks. Girls on there get bombarded by emails and then they get such a big head that they then think they are entitled to nothing short of Ryan Gosling or Hugh Jackman. I have been on and off for two years and I still see girls on there who have been users for two years.
And other reviews about bombarding you with likes to lure you back in once you cancel is dead on. Just a scam. Save your money.
Hideous piece of antiquated cr*p.
Won't allow you to delete your profile once you've been sucked through their maze of sales pitches. When you finally get to 'see' the photos of existing members it feels like you've traveled back in time 10 years, that's how old and dated the photos look.
An unmitigated train wreck that's just clutching to desperate measures as apps like Tinder and Grindr take over.
Thank god I didn't give them credit card info as I read it's living hell to get free from their overcharging, etc. JUST STAY AWAY FROM HIS HELLHOLE.
Horrible site with equally horrible customer service. I whole hearted DO NOT recommend. Save your time and money.
I started out being honest about being a single mom of 4. I consider myself to be a pretty girl. I did get a lot of views but the only "winks" I had were from freaky older guys that were not my preference. I sent emails to a few guys I was matched with and never had a response. Then I decided to test if it was the fact that I was a single mom so I changed my summary and left that out... sure enough within minutes I had all kinds of winks and messages. These guys are looking for hot girls with no kids... good luck to them! Welcome to the real world!
Now, I have tried this site 2 rounds for a total of a year. They need to give you a heads up when you are about to auto-renew and spend $$$ but they don't. So keep an eye and put on your calendar so you can cancel before they take money from your account. With that said, I am an attractive, professional and haven't found many matches when I searched. Even the daily matches the send you - there are 11 and 3+ have no pictures. They need to hone their filters for a better user experience.
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
