Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

Whatever you do, don't EVER give Match.com, JDate.com or Ourtime.com (they are all owned by the same company) your credit card, debit card or banking information. I had joined and kept my profile set to NOT automatically renew after my 6 month period. A few weeks before my membership expired I started getting I started getting these pop ups about renewing now at a 25% discount our I would have to pay full price when I did renew. BIG SURPRISE! I got a fraud alert from my bank the evening after Match.com illegally charged my card full price for a 6 month extension. I called them first thing the next morning and was told that "it doesn't matter who changed the setting, once we charge your card, there are NO refunds." Then she offered me a 35% refund for the 1 day that the account was illegally reactivated which I refused - I was not going to pay them one penny for the 1 day they had my account active against my wishes. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that the supervisor would tell me the same thing. Still wanted to speak to a supervisor and was told that they'd have to call me back. Big surprise, they never did. I called back and was told they "tried" to call me but no one answered. I had given them my cell number, which is on 24/7 and always within hand's reach. There were NO missed calls or voice mails from them. Another LIE! I finally got in touch with a supervisor who did in fact tell me the same thing, they don't do refunds for any reason and her boss not only told me the same thing, but that "he was the FINAL authority" on this matter for Match.com and that there was no phone number for Match.com in the United States. He also told me that they didn't have go give me a refund and they are not held to US law because they are an Internet based business.
If you look at their Facebook page you see illegal credit card charge complaint after complaint after complaint.
Match.com customer service is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The information given is wrong about your cancelation then the customer service specialists are rude, disrespectful, and refuse to allow you to speak to supervisors to file complaints. They are located in Manla and have a difficult time understanding and speaking English in addition to treating people horribly. I would never sign up for Match again and will tell everyone I know about my experience with the customer service. The sad part is the site is actually okay it's the customer service people driving customers away. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING JOINING DO NOT! GO TO ANOTHER SITE WHERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A PRIORITY! THEY ARE NOT ACCREDITED WITH THE BETTER BUSNINESS BUREAU (according to the www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews site)... NO WONDER WHY THEY ARE SO HORRIBLE NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
Complete scam. Have not logged in in over 4 years - have been charged $119 per year every year. Customer service quoted contract terms I never read - refused to refund the charges - complete lack of customer service. Offered to refund 15% of my fees. Completely unacceptable --- what kind of company charges recurring fees for someone who does not log on for 4 years. Criminal behavior - filing complaint with Texas Attorney General. Avoid - never produced any results and was a total rip-off when I was trying it out --- completely unacceptable to charge unwitting consumers year after year after year after year after...
I became a member of Match after seeing their ads about a zillion times on US TV and finally giving in & joining! Ive been single for 6 months or so now and the only other time i tried online dating was when I signed up to WeJustFit.com, which I really liked and met some super people with. Maybe I'm just lucky cos Match has also turned out to be a pretty great choice also, though maybe not quite to the same standard but still a nice option and its always busy no matter where you run your searches from. At the end of the day you cant go wrong with either of these sites, id say don't risk using something you've not heard anything about and stick with these types to be sure to get the most out of the whole online dating thing whether you just dip in every few months like me or you run your membership constant. The expense is nothing for what you're getting access to (single people who are serious about finding someone to settle down with) and there are worst ways to spend your evenings than speaking to interesting people who are just as fed up as you at being a singleton - thats for sure! Haha! Keep an open mind and try to have fun. Good luck!
I joined Match and was on for 8 months. A complete waste of time and money! I never met anyone. If I did talk to someone they would not respond back. This site is full of old profiles and no one new joins and it's all scammers with fake profiles. They don't send you new matches either! They will send you members that don't even use the site anymore. How can this happen? A lot of sketchy people, be careful a lot of profiles I found they are also are on other dating sites. In my opinion I don't think this site is used for what it is intended for. Match use to be a reputable website not anymore.
That's right, greedy and unethical thieves! My membership was automatically renewed without my approval or consent. There was no easy way to contact Match.com; no phone #, no email, nothing... I finally got a phone# from a customer service rep at PayPal while attempting to cancel the $133 charge to my credit. Match agreed to refund $80, but that's all. They stole the rest! Do yourself a favor. Use another dating site, but only after you have read customer reviews. Match.com should be shut down!
I subscribed to this site cause im single. Men want to email but they show the same pics of men. Cant email cant talk unless u pay. No thank you. I can find one on the street for free
I met my wife on match 10 years ago. Tried to make new account for wife's friend in china. They overcharged and refused any refund. Will get my money back form my c card. So dissapointed in what match has become. Now I know why match is not available in china anymore
I would give 0 stars if I could. I am moving back to the US after 8 years living abroad and I remember match.com being one of the more popular sites to meet people. After attempting to sign in from my email and fill out a profile I was kicked off before I could do anything. I was blocked from match before I could even use it. When I tried to call and email they could not give me a reason as to why they blocked me they said they cannot even get into my account and see the issue without me suing them. It does not even make sense and sounds totally ridiculous and made up! In the end Im just giving up because not one person could answer why it happened.
This company stole $250 from me,,, and laughed all the way home! They need to be stopped, I signed up for a trial, they billed me for a year,,,, losers.,,,, just like their fake profiles
I could not signin to my profile did everything that was sugested by Match on there site! Only to find out that the email contact had been compromised! THERE IS NO EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER so have to wait till Monday when who knows what's going to happen to my photos and personal information!.
I met a most wonderful woman from OkCupid and I would highly recommend their site to others. Match.com continues to send me emails after I have removed my profile, unsubscribe from their email list, and called Customer Service twice to have them stop sending me emails. I'm still getting emails from them. They suck.:-)
I never met one guy from Chicago several of them went to the left as in spankings calling me mommy GROSS JUST GROSS! I'm older but not old I'm self sufficient but love to be spoiled! I expect to be treated like my dad treated my mom till death did part them a LADY!
I did not realize the membership was autorenewal. I didn't even use it after the first few days. When I saw the renewal on my account I tried to cancel and get a refund and they refused the refund. They sent no notice that renewal was due, and counted on the fact that most people don't see or forget about the auto renew. Unethical and unfair business practice!
Big rip off. Save you money. You can't get your money back and they continue to charge you. I am giving them one star because zero stars is not an option.
I took on the one month script, after that I got nowhere, so I canceled my prescription. At least I thought I did, until I went over my credit card statement. They have an auto renewal that will start you over every month. You have to go to another location just to cancel your money from being deducted from your account. I call to ask for a refund for the few months that was seen not active, and was denied. This is how Match makes their money. I lost out on both ends. This sight did not help me with a Match and took my money behind my back, would not return it and all I got was a sorry have a great day, LOL. Keep this in mind when using MATCH.COM
I've purchased my match through Groupon and they had my cc info not match. I tried to cancel my subscription through the app and it shows you how but doesn't allow you to get to your account settings on the app. I didn't think they would recharge me through groupon and they did. It was then I had deleted the app I then had to go back in and found the settings tab. Only if you delete the app and go back and sign in is the account settings there. Customer service is over seas and are rude. They offered less than half of the amount charged. When I asked for a supervisor go figure there is no supervisor to speak to. Never again!
I emailed customer service prior to the end of my subscription, notifying them that I wanted to cancel. I received an email reply confirming my cancellation and assuring me my credit card would not be charged. However, it was charged and I could not get any response from customer service when I attempted to contact them. It was considerable hassle to work with my bank to get the charge reversed. I will NEVER do business with match.com again and I would advise anyone else to avoid this site.
Match has a feature to terminate your membership. You think you have terminated your membership because you click CANCEL, but in fact you have not cancelled. Until you go through the hoops of answering questions, you are not in fact cancelled. It's misleading and fraudulent.
Terrible website, ridiculous matches and worst of all HIDDEN CHARGES - money will leave your account without your permission and the awful dishonest customer service will refuse to refund
AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
