Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

This "paid for" site is full of scammers! Be careful because customer service doesn't care what happens to you as long as you are paid up. I called customer service requesting a refund because I couldn't deal with the scammers and "Kenneth" said our conversation was going no where and he was about to hang up. I have 5 months of 6 left and no chance of a refund. Please stay away form this dating site!
I was on match years ago and it was good then it was about 9 years ago i found a very sweet loving guy not far form me but in the end he was afriad to commit and ever since every site i try seems to be filled with scammers and fake profiles even match had a few back then and i see that is what most say now or paying too much
I cancelled my account two days before it expired and was still charged for an additional 3 months. Called Match and they told me I didn't do the cancellation correctly and they wouldn't refund my money. I checked the cancellation prompts on the Match.com website and there was nothing I could have done differently. They scam you on your billing so beware. To see many other people complaining says a lot about this company.
I don't think I've ever written a review of a product or service until now, and not for good reasons. Match is the biggest scam I can think of and it's shameful that it is raking in so much revenue. They hook you on sneaky terms and refuse to refund for things like unannounced auto-renewals. In my case, I had met someone and there was no activity on my account for half a year. Upon seeing a charge on my bank statement, I called the same day to refund the charge. But they wouldn't do it. After vehemently challenging this nonsense, the customer rep reluctantly mentioned that I was eligible for a $7 refund. This business does everything to take your money and does nothing to serve its customers. Oh, and the profiles on Match suck, too.
I've used Match before with no problems. However, this time I got stuck paying for a 6 month membership that should have been free. I followed the requirements for each month and accepted free 6 month renewal. Unfortunately, I did not check my credit card statement until months later to find they charged me full price for the renewal. I called several times and was given different answers why. First, they said you need to call or email the site to say you want the extention which is garbage. 1) It had never been that way before 2) It does not say that in the FAQ 3) You need to do a thorough search of the internet to even find a contact number, match.com's site only has an email option. So after giving me the run around with that, I was told I needed to choose the premium plan and not basic. I told the representative I was looking right at the requirements on the page and both plans contained the guarantee. The final excuse was it was longer than 30 days since my charge so they could not review if I was eligible for the 6 month free guarantee(although they had no problems automatically charging me for it).
Basically Match will give you excuses not to give your money back and when you prove they are wrong and make you wait on the phone for 20 minutes each time you point out they are(probably receiving a new story to tell you from a superior), they will come up with a flimsy excuse like it's your responsibility to check your credit card charges to see if THEY charged you incorrectly. Like you should be doing their job for them.
There is a reason every Match review page you find online is negative, and this is just one of them.
I have been on match.com for a couple years with no dates or promising leads and I decided to cancel my subscription. Match.com ignores these cancellations and keeps charging my PayPal account monthly. I can hardly believe that this is a isolated phenomena but rather a routine procedure with them. So be careful when you give them your payment information. They are hard to get rid of.
I want my money back because you all I want that that I put somebody's profile you I want more money I want my money back or I'll call the FCC in the federal government
I joined Match.com and Plenty of Fish (POF.com) on the same day. I used the same photos and bio on both sites. I initially used the free version of both sites but had to upgrade on Match.com to see emails (which were free on POF). In the past three months I averaged five responses on POF to every one response on Match. That's right, a 5 to 1 difference! I decided to cancel Match and followed their instructions until the process was completed on their website. However I did not receive an email confirming this but then I wasn't really looking for one not knowing I had to have it. They auto renewed me and when I called regarding this charge the next business day, they refused to refund me my full amount. Instead they said they would give me a "one time courtesy" refund of 30%. This is a total rip-off for a site that charges for what other sites provide for free. Here's something to think about, they pay millions of dollars for all their slick media ads and they are still losing out to other online dating sites. There's a really good reason for this, bad value for the money and extremely poor customer service.
I seriously don't understand why people give Match.com all these negative reviews. It worked pretty good for me and I met few nice girls. Yeah, it can be a hit and miss sometimes but my overall experience is pretty good. If you try online dating use sites like Match.com (or Mingle2day and eHarmony).
I joined match on a 3 month deal. After 12 hours locked my account. Called support put on hold over 30mi min. Support comes on will not tell me why.my account is locked. Told have to respond buy email and will take another 48 hours. 48 hours later get a email saying my account is suspended and I will not get a refund. Paid 74.99 for 12 hours. There was around 10 girls in my area. Got one response. She told me she gets 10-******* resonces a month. Avoid this site
ZERO they will keep billing after you cancel and are very rude. Do not use match they will steal your money.
Did not refund any of my money after signing up for a 3 month subscription when I was on for a little over a week. They would not even change the subscription to a one time monthly charge which i thought was unreasonable, anyway the girls on this site in my opinion are very very particular so just a heads up.
They will billing you long after you cancel. I will never join them again! Also if you elect to turn off the autobill, they will turn it back on and bill you anyway. There are no refunds..
You will be herasted. All info is sold and never deleted. And the site is a complete scam.
Would give a zero if I could
Easy to incurr extrra expense after original sign-up. Keep getting requested to sign up when I already have signed up, and not even close to end of time period. Signed up for a month at approx $30.00 and Match keeps up the pressure to spend more and more, Hard enuff dealing with the ladies while at the same time vulnerable due to hormones generated while on the prowl.
Their site is NOT SECURE. You will be scammed and receive many erroneous emails. It is not the Match of the past. Lots of scammers and my account and a friends account was hacked. Buyer beware!
Been using Match.com a while now paying and before i signed up i got like 5 winks and soon as i payed and joined i now lucky to get 1 view a day!
I have not had a single date off the website even though i've been using it over a year! The only women who do talk seem to be moody or stuck up for some reason, yet other free sites ive used I've had multiple dates and met my Ex's off them so waste of money and full of fakes...
Match.com is owned by IAC 555 W. 18th St. NY, NY 10*******300. IAC owns a bevy of dating sites such as: Our Time, OK Cupid, Tinder, Chemistry, Plenty of Fish, HowaboutWe, Match Company, and many more. Match is not located in Texas, as they state. Match ignored my complaint to the BBB of the State of Texas where they have an 'F' rating. Match is not a member of the BBB so it does not good to complain to them. Your best bet is to lodge a complaint with your state Attorney General's Office; Civil Litigation Division. Also the Federal Trade Commission. IAC business practices are subject to federal and state regulations. (see the 2015 IAC Interactive Corp; Shareholder Report) In this report they admit to transmitting, storing, and sharing personal information including credit card information. To please the shareholders, they reveal in the report that they store CC information so that they can 'auto renew' their clients memberships. An interesting read. If enough of us complain, IAC will be forced to abide by the laws of our land, and will be charged with fraud. Because that is absolutely what they are committing, FRAUD.
I joined this website after a breakup. They are predatory vermin who purely want money and I'm really disgusted.
There has got to be a better option than this.
They hide the fact that they will autobill/auto renew (for your benifit), and once you figure it out, its too late. They also refuse to refund unused portions of a subscription
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
