Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

I actually got my money back after threatening to sue them and report them to the BBB for false business claims. Signed up and paid yet kept getting the worst and most inappropriate matches EVER. It made me want to get back with my ex-husband when I saw/"met"/talked to these "matches" - each one worse than the last. It did not matter that I had "must -haves ". The fact that in the end I even considered getting back with an ex who was not nice to me, a liar and my kids would have killed me if I had -- how is this a dating service?
I tried this site. There is something strange the profiles on this site. You have no idea how old the profile is, nor if the profile is active. I wrote 100's of messages and NEVER ever got one response... Hmmmm. Something's not right here. I had a 1 year subscription... Not 1 response? FYI... I am 5'9", 170 lbs, and NOT ugly at all. Although I am an older gentleman, in 50's.
So, I had been looking for someone for awhile, and spent the time to fully fill out a profile, and paid the subscription fee. I was wondering why no one was responding to any of my messages. Well apparently the subscription does NOT allow for free users to reply to subscribed users without the subscribed user paying more for that service. So in effect you not only have to pay to be able to use it in ANY way, you also hope that anyone your interested in is also a subscriber, and if that cutie is not a subscriber well looks like your paying even more for that person to be even capable of replying.
I have tinder gold to compare to, so that's what I'll.be basing my comparisons on.
Match is more expensive than tinder becuase of all the extra ad one you have to get. It shows you people who don't have the ability to respond becuase they themselfs aren't a premium member. It's another 60$ for to let anyone reply to you, instead of just other members. Tinder gives you 5 super likes a day as boosts every week. Match gives you 1 super like a day and 1 boost a month. Matches 6 month price vs tinders 6th month price. Match comes out to 22.50 and tinder comes out to 9.99. Even if you get the half off deal. With match. It's still more for less.
The people you see. I can't speak on the makes on either app. But I can speak on the females. The 1 thing match does have going for it, is all the girls on there are real. No bots, escorts, or only fan type girls. But every time I log on, I see the same people with match. I've already sent them a message. Stop showing me the same girls. Tinder is completely new people every time. I've never once seen the same people before.
Lastly, the matches. Maybe it's me. Idk. But comparing my matches on tinder vs my matches on match, it's night a day. On tinder in the same span as my match account I've had 48 matches, dozens of conversations, phone calls and people wanting to go on dates (can't because of Covid.) On match in the same amount of time. I've had 3 match's and 0 actual conversations. Example: tinder I meet a girl and we spoke a lot of travel. She said he favorite travel destination was Chiang Mai in Thailand. We spoke a bunch on that, what she likes, why she likes it, my trip to France, how they compared etc. Young lady on match said in her profile she loved visiting Italy. So I asked what about italy does she love. Nothing buy 1 word replies. "The food". "It's good" etc. Idk, maybe it's just me. But save your money and go meet actual people on tinder
People who are inactive spent an hour blocking 81 in active people the next day they were all back I seen some people there from 3 years ago shouldn't be my job to get rid of the inactive people just a waste of time they leave them in there and say we have a bunch more people than they actually do big big waste of time
I joined Match.com because I have friends that met there a few years ago and their experience was great. I finally made the decision to join given I didn't have much luck on other sites. I thought Match would be a better choice, but honestly it's not. Match is no different than other sites that are FREE of charge. Save yourself the money! Not to mention their customer service is the worst I've ever had. Irene can take a few customer service lessons.
I signed up for Match.com this morning to see if anything changed. Their latest change? You can only view the first six profiles in the search results, with an "upgrade to view them all" message at the bottom. It's clear that they want you to use their Tinder-like "Top Picks" feature, which just displays random profiles.
Everything Match Group (the company that owns Match.com and all of the other popular dating apps/websites) touches turns to garbage. Examples:
Tinder
- Crap profiles (not looking for serious relationships, full of emojis, stupid animated pics, etc.)
- Too many ads (but you can pay to get rid of them!)
- Withholds likes to entice you to upgrade to Gold (you'll have new likes, but they won't be shown in your stack)
- Even with a paid subscription, your profile will never be seen unless you pay for boosts
- Outrageous prices for subscriptions and consumables (boosts, superlikes, etc.)
OkCupid
- Removed features (in order): Forums, personality tests, visitors, usernames, open messaging, last online, SEARCH! (can only swipe now)
- Limited likes per day without upgrading (lower than 10!)
- Mandatory 2FA (so they can sell your phone #)
Plentyoffish
- Fake profiles (less than before, but they still exist. It was REALLY bad when Craigslist personals was discontinued - they allowed porn bots!)
- Latest desktop website redesign is unusable (very slow with tons of "your network connection is slow" and "no network connection" errors, reduced search options, unable to view new users without upgrading (although you can still sort search results by "newest first" - I'm sure they'll remove that next)
- No support (poor moderation of profiles, profiles without inappropriate content or behavior are deleted for no reason)
- Mandatory 2FA (so they can sell your phone #)
It's very clear that Match Group's focus is 100% profit and 0% customer satisfaction. It's only a matter of time before the company goes out of business.
I signed up to try match.com for free and input photos and information. The next day when I tried to sign in I was asked to give my cell phone for security. I tried my home phone but couldn't get access. I tried chat to get help signing in without a cell phone; no luck, but he "elevated" the call. Two days later, no response so I tried emailing and two phone numbers on the website. One doesn't go through; the other says "leave a message" - no hello or ID. I went back on chat. While on chat, I got a phone call from India. He ultimately gave me another phone number. It was answered by Elite, who said they had no relationship to match.com. Chat gave me another (4th) number. I was on hold for 45 minutes before hanging up. The chat person was nice and said he could take down my account. I'll never know if he did.
Match.com when you do a search, can't even tell if person is a paying member. They can like you but can't reply, they you find out you can pay more so they can. Money making scam. Also can't tell how long sense last sign in. You can tell most recent, but once you get to about 10 deep it might have been a month ago, no way to tell
I give them 0 stars. A profile was set up that I did not know about and it was my profile. Obviously they had no clue that I've already got charges on someone for taking my debit card. And getting on sites and paying for sites. I emailed and told them I wanted my money back and told them that I did not do that. And all that I was How old was to remove my profile they have no intention of refunding my money. This was on match.com. I do not recommend this website to anyone. They are CROOKS
I never met anyone who wasn't a creep. Most of the people on match are using someone else's profile and are not even real. They do not even check to see if people are real. I cancelled and they kept charging me for over a year. I was dealing with some serious health issues and was not paying attention to my credit card bills as all my bills were on autopay. When I called them they would only refund the last 2 payments. They said they could tell I hadn't been using it since I cancelled but would not refund the rest of my money. Match really sucks!
Match is the worst of all. They dont check backgrounds, pictures, jobs, People dating there usually lied about job, status, education, pictures. Customer service is terrible too, they dont know anything, the confuse your emails, and its a waste of time to call them. I had to fight with my credit card because match customer service is worthless.
My verdict is: never invest your time, money and feelings in Match! It's phony and totally fraudulent site! I takes unbelievable amount of time to find someone real among all these fake accounts on Match. They create these fake accounts of pretty ladies to boost their popularity and to lure new users into purchasing membership. Once they have your cc details, they will keep charging you for the features you have never used. You will have to waste your time again when you decide to cancel it. Deleting your account is a pain! So just don't get involved with this nightmare site!
Signed On For 3 Month Subscription 5/09/2020 Through 8/09/2020 To Check It Out, Then Only Come To Learn It "SUCKS".--Their Office Is Only Open From 8:00AM To 5:00PM Monday Through Friday.--Went Through Various Screens To Address Some FAQ. I Hit The Icon, Nothing Popped Up. I'll Do The "3-Months" Because They Are Already Paid For, Then Won't Ever Come Back To It Or Recommend The Site...!
Meet several on match everyone was a scammer. What a fool I felt I was liked several very much they are very good at it. Please don't join this site. I am heartbroken after the last episode
Match is good in the respect of being a paid site (if you really want to make use of it) in that it does not have a glut of spammers and fakes. The search tools are good and the format where you can scroll through a large number of profiles is much better than most other sites. Zoosk is probably the worst when it comes to that and search criteria.
I would give it zero stars if I could! It's a con company that makes money by trapping you into auto-subscription, putting you on auto-renewal and adding bogus charges. They are full of sockpuppet accounts, It's all about scam and catfishing. Match doesn't give a damn about their reputation. They started as a good site and they were rapidly growing. But now it's a rubbish site, with basically no customer service. They don't care if you are scammed, moreover, I'm pretty sure they know about all this scam going on on their site and they encourage it.
As a recently single female I would not suggest this site. It is overwhelming the amount of messages you get that are completely sex based. I didn't get one offer for a date only hook up opportunities. I don't understand as I'm a legit dating opportunity. I felt like a total piece of meat when canceling my membership not like a lady. I received 50 messages within a couple of days but none were from people who wanted to date me. This was a crazy negative experience.
5 months and only one real. And I mean real person that I met. I Have concluded reading the profiles and looking at the pictures and the BS text messages that they create these profiles to make it look like there are real possibilities for a match. One in-person meet and EIGHT other fake text contacts that all want to know you before meeting or they have to go out of town and. Of course... need money to get back. I have reported the same picture but different name or city, the same profile but different picture. They are so glad you did but they show up again. The FBI needs to Investigate this company and that is not a joke. Most profiles are not members but they can like and never communicate. This is true of most of these sites and they are also owned by match. Question is where are they getting the pictures? Was that once somebody who went on their site and they are using them in another fake profile in another city? A real person who pays for this site wants to meet you and see if there is a connection. This is such a scam they need to be shut down and all their data that they have collected on everyone be deleted
I have not met the one I want to stay with, but I have found many interesting friends. It is inspiring.
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
