Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

Paid for a six month subscription. Have met twenty women. Nearly all of them seemed nice and genuine. But ultimately they revealed themselves as scammers, con artists and liars. Sometimes Match exposes the fake profiles but for the most part I find out the hard way. Definitely not worth the subscription price!
Match.com is and should be an app that will get consistent customer interaction, considering the bloated cost of memberships. Additionally, they require an upfront payment, asking for customers to subscribe for several months at a time, which cost me $130 for 6 months. Complete transparency to understand requires me to repeat that "fee paid in full at date of subscription purchase" is manipulation at its best, charging me $130 on July 2nd for services through December 2nd. Evidently, match.com reserves the right to discontinue services in their contract with a vague explanation of whatever their interpretation if of text between clients. This communication lacks body language, tone of voice, and verbal cues that prevents a full understanding of what's black and white. I am sure that everyone reading that has interpreted a text or email in a completely inaccurate manner than it was meant to be received. Sarcasm, for example, is a response that is legitimately understood in person only, and mostly misinterpreted between stranger text communication. Long story short, last month my account was deactivated without reimbursement of the remaining 4 months I paid for. I requested reimbursement and received a generic, vague explanation in response, explaining that they reserve the right to keep money for services not rendered upon account deactivation. Now, I know why I paid for 4 months of service on the date of purchase the subscription. Extremely inexcusable for a billion dollar company to retain this from individuals that are just getting by, and to do so in such an upside down, backhand fashion by not allowing customers to pay monthly. Especially so, when there is no intention to distribute the reimbursement funds. And what's worse, match.com promotes larger packages for "customer discounts" and for no other reason than this. Match.com could say the larger packages save customers money, but on the contrary, I was taken for over $85 while receiving nothing but the regret of my trust in basic human dignity to not be manipulated by the system. I suggest that anyone deciding to try match.com to only use a free trial or ask to pay for one week only. I would have been better off and it's incontestable that I'd have been better off utilizing these stolen funds as toilet paper, one Washington after the next for at least 85 wipes!
Run! They are the shadiest of the dating sites. Stay away from this site. Do not put your photos and personal info on their site. It will be there forever.
Please do not go on a paid membership here even if it is cheap and they give you 50% discount. I wanted to cancel my membership on Day 3 but they were not ready to refund the money. Every representative had a different rule as in what/how many days I should spend to get a refund. And also the crowd/matches are terrible. I would say just go to a bar! Sit there and hunt. You have better luck than going on this website. I am appalled that it even exists. THEY ARE IN THE BUSINESS TO SCAM PEOPLE!
Tried to get into Match.com website and they have instituted a new, very aggravating way to annoy members by having them choose some numbers on dice that add up to 14 and when you choose it, it still won't let you into the site. Most annoying thing I've seen lately. I have cancelled my membership because of it.
After 6 months I believe I got over 30 fake profiles matches and now all the non-paying members they use to give recommendations that can't even see a response!
Don't purchase this. Worst money spent. It is a waste and the guys belong on Tinder. All these site are a waste but this is the worst one
Worst site I have ever used Fake profiles/Scammers and a billing process you can only cancel is by cancelling your credit card. Google rates this site as No1, I will never believe a google search ever again.
I paid 6 months membership and got reply from 10 scammers and about 15 fake people (younger that the age i set claiming to be older) obviously no checks and balances. Dont believe computer search engines for rating web sites look for reviews of people who have tried them.
I signed up. They took money out my account. Then they changed my password, couldn't get in. None
Ail received to change it no matter how many times I tried. Impossible to contact.
You have to have a cell phone as there's no other way, according to them, they can verify who you are. I'm not sure how a cell phone gives them the information they say they need, but who am I to argue. After joining for an hour you have to verify your cell phone… And then after that you have to verify your email address. I've been waiting since yesterday for them to send me an email in order to verify my account.
It took less than an hour to get my first bimbo to email me about her site. Why else would a 25-year-old from 2000 miles away be interested in me especially considering I'm over double her age. Couple that with expired profiles, limited choices in your area, and their selective use of pictures of only pretty women for their advertisements and also for all of the profiles you look at before you join. See, you put in for the trial membership... Where you live and what you're looking for age wise etc... and low and behold all these pictures of all these pretty women come up. And of course they're enticing you to join the entire time so at a minimum, you think you have "choices". Needless to say… I gave it a chance, joined, filled in the required areas before I could email someone... and low and behold… Out of 100 women I had a choice of two. The rest were all fat, ugly, dressed like grandmas, looks like they just crawled out of a crack den or in some of their cases, they were only separated from their husbands even though I put that down in my search to not include!
The site is as big of a scam as the women that are on it.
Tried to reactivate my account. Support said my account had been hacked and was closed; use another email addy to create a new account. Told them neither of my email accounts would work on creating a new account; got another automated email reply (or an incredibly stupid human email reply) that said to try another email. Terrible support.
I joined in arch 2018, so I also state I am not bang up to date ( as I am with another person)
However - when i DID join I kept seeing the same people I ignored, come back - and come back again.
I also noted that the ' Star Profile ' that I was interested in the most - magically never replied to any messages - I also did a little digging and spotted her profile on a couple of other dodgy dating websites
I have come to believe that most of the profiles are never deleted and just recycled through the site to make it look like there are more choices than there are.
I admit I never paid for the full membership - but realised something was awry.========
My Final Bit of Advice - NEVER give your exact real DOB for safety ( in case site gets hacked) and initially NO profile picture and little profile details - if you start to get loads of messages and ' flirts '
Or ' likes ' - that should be a HUGE RED FLAG!
This test should be done for a few days - after that you are clear to make your own mind up
( I used Tinder and had great success) - and never paid. I used great photos and a decent write-up.
Worst customer service!
Many profiles inactive!
Better customer care and outcome on a other dating site, i joined.
I've tried to contact match about a glitch in my droid app. When I attempt to email or text I'm blocked by a message that says you must accept cookies to use firefox, okay I don't use firefox and of course i've accepted all cookies on explorer.
The issue with my droid is ( this way maybe someone from match will see this review and help my out)
When I'm texting on my phone with the match app the only line I can see is the one I'm currently typing. Once the line shifts up I can't see the autocorrect changes that are made. Most of the time this is harmless, however sometimes the autocorrect makes me look like a buffoon. Am I using the wrong app or the wrong service?
Match.com is a major predator of the online dating business clients. They suck you in with their shiny advertisements and how they match so many clients a year but really I think that's BS because once you are a member then the fun begins.
So the two major factors with finding a match are 1) present people who are near to you in other words I indicate how many miles from my location I would like to meet people. 2) I fill out a very comprehensive profile about me and the type of person I would like to meet. OK ready? 95% of the people that show up in my search or at least an additional half an hour away than what I had requested. Also anybody in that list who might be near where I live had nothing in common with me. Our profiles just don't match! But match Thinks they do. So ultimately match.com is an incredible rip off and waste of time. Stay away at all costs!
Once you get thru all the booty seekers lol. Match use to have very high quality men. I noticed that is went down the drain for 2 reasons. 1) After Trump closed down Craigslist all the perverted booty seeking crazies, scammers, and sex workers are flooding the considerably normal dating sites. This is pushing out the eligible men and women because we cannot find a high quality match. My last great Match was my ex boyfriend, we were both business owners, very successful and ready to date! We broke up over values, I was not willing to compromise my morals for a millionaire. Elohim comes first, and he really should have understood seeing he was a minister. Before him I did meet a few other high quality men but they were not serious enough to date for marriage. I've been on great dates, and asked to date exclusively with these catches. 2) COVID 19 has only ramped up all these horrible catches! It's truly sad. I remember meeting a guy, he was a great catch at the time. Great career, great salary, and 3800sq home. I just could not bring myself to like him for some reason, I tried. Anyways I remember him telling me a story about a women that he flew to see and she said she would have sex with him for a $3000 purse. He informed me that he spent 1000s out of his savings buying gifts for false affection. He did not buy me a single thing lol, we did take a short trip. Anywho, best of wishes on your search if you are looking for something real! Pray on it for sure, and be patient. Stay Safe!
Match.com is 10 times as expensive as it should be. If the company reduced its fees, it would have 100s more users making it so much better. Because it is way too expensive, it gets so few users, and it resorts to re-using people's profiles and photos who are not active, not subscribed and not interested. Greed is the ruin of Match.com. It deserves to go under if it fails to make these necessary changes.
BE CAREFUL! They charge you when you don't want to continue the service and won't refund you. They charged me almost $100.00 without me consenting or knowing they were going to charge me. I thought it was fraud and cancelled my account. They will not refund you. Made me keep my account when I cancelled it. I would NEVER go on this site again or ever recommend it.
I joined Match.com the evening of Feb 14,21. I could not access my account on the 15 or 16th. On the 17th I was informed my account was terminated without any reason. I had never even been on the site after joining.
I wasn't even on match for a week and I got scammed. I contacted them immediately to cancel my membership and a refund. Well membership is canceled but no refund. They said since I used it I wasn't eligible for a refund. If I didn't use it I wouldn't have gotten scammed. Be very careful if you decide to join.
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
