I am bombarded with advertisements of their 60% discounts. I have yet to find a single item with 60% discount. Their prices are way above the market - why would I pay so much when I can buy comparables for a fraction without the aggravation of dishonest advertising?

For the past 50 years or so I've worn LL Bean shirts and pants. I appreciated that I could get sizing to fit me, and having an unquestioned warrantee sealed the deal. Then LL started making everything in Cheapo, and they had to change their returns policies. Recently, three of my barely-used LL Bean shirts failed, the fabric ripping into holes. And the new return policies made getting a refund or replacement a pain in the posterior. I simply decided that LL Bean was no longer trustworthy.

I bought a wool sweater. I wanted to take it hiking with me. The sweater looks nice but have hole in it not tight weaving. $80 I never use. I heard they are a outdoor store. They need to say we're it it made too.

Ordered an item from them. They have placed on backorder and moved the date 3 times. Won't work to get me the item or a proper refund. Don't trust them with your hard earned money.

I just purchased a Bike through LLBean, It finally came from China. When I went to install the peddles, you could see the threads were not in good shape in the cranks. I did install them finger tight for about 5 threads so that I know it was not cross threaded. The peddles then went in in about 3/4 of the way with a wrench until they would go no further. I figured it is what it is, well 1 month later all the threads failed on the right crank and the peddle fell out. I call LLbean and they accuse me (I have been an auto mechanic for 35 years) of stripping the crank out myself and refuse to send me a crank. I will be returning the bike.
They used to be a reputable business. FYI, my girlfriend got a new bike as well from a different company and I assembled that one without issue.

Sheets made in China
August 9, 2020

This is a very old American company. So I tried to buy American--wrong!

The apparent quality of these expensive sheets looks like they will compare closely with crap one gets from the Chinese via Penney's--and, the pillow covers have no pockets. At least Penney's has those.

If you want to buy American, forget ol' L L Bean!

I ordered two Adirondack chairs. The original shipping timeline was 5 weeks. 2 weeks past that, I reached out to customer service. They informed me that the vendor was backed up, and the new ship date wouldn't be for another 5 weeks for a total of almost 12 weeks from order to shipment.

I requested to cancel the order, and the CS rep on the chat informed me that the 'request' was submitted. I requested a cancellation confirmation and was told that was not possible, only that a request was submitted and that in a week or so, I might hear back that my order was cancelled.

This is absolutely unacceptable. I will not be purchasing any items from LL Bean ever again.

Bought a fleece for my grandson here and it was too big. He tried it on (said "uck" because he thought it was ugly) sent it back in its original wrapping - and they sent me a gift card even though I wanted a refund. Then they argued with me about their return policy. I will never, ever buy anything from these thieves ever again.

I am a seasoned online shopper and rarely run into issues. On the rare occasion that I do the seller has made it right. Sadly, that was clearly not the case with an online purchase with LL Bean. When I ordered the item (a floor mat) there was no indication there would be a protracted delivery period. After almost a month of waiting and sending two follow up emails - the wrong item was delivered. Totally different mat, different size, dIfferent colour. Very frustrating. Not only do they have operational issues - they make no effort to take responsibility for their error. I would NOT recommend shopping at LLBean. They don't know how to operate an online business & more importantly they just don't care about negative client experiences.

Trash clothing
February 26, 2020

The quality is garbage. The lining of my shirt is full of holes and this shirt has been worn 6 or 7 times.
Never, never, never again will I purchase anything with a LL Bean sticker on it.

Bad boots
February 12, 2020

No longer stand behind their products, my new boots fell apart. Apparently the workers in china just didn't get the $. 10 hour they were asking for and quality took a nose dive.

I ordered a pair of bean boots for my husband for Christmas. They were limited edition and back ordered. I ordered them on 12/9/19 with an estimated ship date of 12/23/19. I knew they wouldn't arrive by Christmas and I was ok with that. Shortly after Christmas they were backordered again until 1/27/20. I called customer service and they said because they were limited edition they couldn't do anything about it but assured me they would ship out 1/27. I checked my order a couple of days ago and it was processing. Then yesterday I get an email that they are backordered AGAIN until 2/24/20. I call customer service complain and cancel my order. They tell me that they can connect me with a sales clerk in Massachusetts that has one pair in stock. I mean... what? I then spoke to a supposed supervisor who was also less than helpful and didn't seem to want to rectify the situation at all. So my husband didn't get a Christmas present and they obviously don't care about the reputation of LL Bean at all. I have written maybe 2 reviews in my life but I thought this one deserved a write up and hopefully will save someone else the hassle. Don't do it!

We have purchased several items from L. L. Bean due to their reputation of quality. However, when we wanted to return a shirt due to poor fit, it cost $6.50 to return it. I think we will stick with stores that do offer free returns.

I bought a pair of shoes. L L Bean sent the wrong size. When I attempted to get a new pair sent to me, I was told that even though the size error was theirs, expedited shipping would be seven days. I told them I would be returning the shoes for a refund. 22 days later I received a call from LL Bean asking if I wanted a pair in the correct size sent to me. So, I made my fourth call to LL Bean to explain that I wanted a refund. I don't know what has happened in the past five years, but customer service is poor as is the quality of the product. (I have been a Bean customer for 25 years.)

In spite of "issues" with abuse of guarantee and return policy, I have yet to be made whole for defective chamois shirts and other items that didn't hold up, need repairs and / or replacement. There should be a better, honorable way of addressing and dealing with exchange and/or repairs of LL Bean merchandise previously sold. Workmanship < OK, and < satisfactory.

I bought several chamois shirts from LL Bean several years ago and have found the quality to be very poor; far worse than the shirts I bought from Bauer over a decade ago. The chamois shirts from Bauer are still comfortable and have held up very well whereas the shirts from LL Beans have frayed and worn through at the cuffs and another has ripped through under the armpit! At almost $100 per shirt, I really expected better.
Perhaps you should find out who makes Bauer shirts and buy from them; that's what I'll be doing in the future

Just had a chat member cut me off because I was complaining about taking 4-6 weeks to get an exchange completed. In this day and age who does that but LL Bean. Her last reply to me before cutting me off was not very nice. I'm certainly through with LL Bean. Last couple pairs of slacks I bought ripped after about 6 months, so obviously their clothes are not what they used to be either.

Terrible customer service
November 30, 2019

I ordered 2 pr of tartan pyjamas and was told I could pay in Canadian dollars, so I did. It has now been 19 days that I am waiting to recieve this order although LL Bean has taken the full amount out of my Visa. I have called 3 times to try to trace the order. Three times I have been told they are trying to find the order. The third agent told me that she would ship to me out of Maine and cancel the Canadian order since it takes longer in Canada. Then I had a call asking again for my Visa and I refused as I have already paid over $200 and recieved nothing but promises that do not pane out. This the worst service ever.

After ordering once, and waiting forever for very mediocre merchandise I made the terrible mistake of trying to order TWO ITEMS. IHAD TO SPEAK TO SIX PEOPLE, THEY MADE MULTIPLE MISTAKES OVER SIX HOURS. They were all really terrible people in addition to being totally incompetent! Horrible! They can't read the notes put on account and overcharged me. I tried to cancel the order and they weren't able to do that. ONLINE DIDN'T WORK AND EVERY PERSON WAS RUDE. HAS BECOME HORRIBLE COMPANY! BEWARE!
