If I could give a zero would be great. I have purchased several vouchers through this company. But they have used my card fraudulently in March 2012 and done a charge of $59 without my authorization. There is no deal purchased and they refuse to refund my card. They said they will credit my account back but never did.
I have contacted AMEX and filed a complaint and also 7 on your side. This company is a fraud.

Same sad experience as many people. Business was unable/unwilling to perform the service I purchased, when I requested a refund from livingsocial, I continually received a robo response via email. When I called customer service, a very polite professional young lady continually gave me a 'robo' response that I did not qualify for a refund under their policies. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she continually,'politely and professionally," kept ignoring my request. When I continually asking why she was ignoring my request to speak to her supervisor. She 'politely and professionally" hung up on me. (note the sarcasm.)since they are unwilling to accommodate my request for refund, I will be disputing the charges to my credit card. I urge anyone who has has issues with Livingsocial to do the same. Believe me, they do not what to get too many disputed charges or they will lose their standing with their merchant bank. And then maybe they will treat their customers as they should be treated.

I have bought 3 deals from Living Social, and none of the companies were able to cope with the demand from their voucher deals.

One, I waited for 5 hours for a simple haircut. Another I was refunded for as I found out about the lack of availability within 7 days (although it took 3 weeks to even get a reply from the customer service team about this!). The other livingsocial refused to refund, even though the company had no appointments available in my city so the voucher was useless to me.

Clearly LivingSocial is not doing proper checks on whether companies can fulfil their voucher offers within a reasonable time period.

Needless to say I have unsubscribed, and am suggesting everyone I know does the same.

I love Groupon and have had nothing but fantastic experiences with both them directly and the businesses they promote, so I thought I'd try Living Social expecting a similar experience.

Several vouchers have worked out fine, but I bought one for a hair salon that I believe has gone out of business. I've called repeatedly for two weeks, text messaged the cell number on their web site, and e-mailed the owner. No response. I contacted Living Social and got a form letter reply saying I could gift the voucher to a friend if I no longer wanted it... If I can't get an appointment or even a returned phone call, why in the world would I give my voucher to a friend? I replied back yesterday, but no response yet.

Terrible customer service. I bought a deal for a flying trapeze lesson, then got pregnant before using it.
I contacted them to get my money back, explaining how I couldn't possibly join the circus safely at this point in my pregnancy. They've sent me 2 automatic responses about how they won't give me my money back.
I wish a human being would consider the situation and realize this would be a good time to show good customer service skills.

Living Social hosted a client, Wine and Canvas, that sold more vouchers than they could redeem. Instead of extending the time period for the customers or giving a refund, they said the amount we paid can be applied towards a visit. That is a scam if you know you can't honor the offer.

I've purchased quite a few and used 2 of their Durham/UK deals so far - the first one a boiler service - I tried for weeks to get in touch with heatcare solutions, but no reply. The second was an afternoon tea deal with Mountoswalds in Durham - as all timeslots were booked, I got in touch with livingsocial customer service. I had to experience that 'service' in this case was rather the opposite, They told me that I am going to loose the money I had paid for the deal - due to the little sentence 'subject to availability'.

Therotically this means I could set up any deal, collect the money and then tell customers 'sorry, it's not available any more.'

Wow!
September 30, 2012

Wow! Just experinced a crappy interaction with LivingSocial. I purchased tickets to the Craft Beer and Food Truck Festival last week and found out THIS MORNING at 7:16am that my purchase didn't go through and now the site and customer service representative "Renee" will not allow me to get my tickets. This email said that I needed to resolve my issue by Sept 21st which is pretty hard to do when you purchase tickets on the 24th! I received various emails throughout the week asking me how "excited" I was about the event. I was even able to print off my waiver for the festival. But now, there is "NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO." Well LivingSocial, this was the first and ABSOLUTE last event I will ever purchase through you. Thank you for ruining my husband's anniversary present.

Beware: Merchants are allowed to change the deal you purchase and Living Social will NOT do anything about it.

Here's my experience: I purchased an online Living Social deal for two lunch combinations at a local restaurant. A matter of weeks after I purchased the deal, I went to the restaurant to use the voucher. The restaurant was closed with a sign on the door that said they no longer serve lunch, and directed me to a different restaurant in a different part of the city that would honor the voucher. When I went to the other restaurant a few weeks later, they told me they would not honor the voucher. I then went back to the first restaurant and was told that they would give me the dollar value I purchased the voucher for toward food for dinner. In other words, I would receive no discount and have to buy a more expensive dinner instead of lunch.

I called Living Social, explained the situation and asked for a refund since the restaurant was no longer willing to honor the deal I purchased. I was told that I could not get a refund as it was past the refund period (even though the voucher had not yet expired). After asking for clarification, I was told that once the refund period has expired, any merchant can change give you a different deal than what you purchased and Living Social will not give you a refund unless the merchant has gone out of business.

Unfair and unethical policies such as this will surely keep me from using this website again.

Their customer service is probably worst I have ever had to deal with. THey will refuse refunds at all costs even when they are at fault.
THeir refund policy is that if you dont ask within 24 hours you're out of luck so what happens is you'll buy a voucher for an event they're throwing lets say a month from now... so the month goes by you go to the event and it is nothing like advertised. So when you call back for a refund they say it's past the 24 hours and you're out of luck. They are making money by putting together lame events and misleading people and then they get away with their refund policy.
Be careful buying anything from them. If you're not happy with the service or anything at all they will steal your money.

I purchased a voucher for river tubing and it is printed in black and white that the expiration date for the paid value is in 2017, yet the Wahoo Tubing folks decided that they won't honor that and livingsocial.com will do NOTHING about it. This is the second time I've had trouble with a deal I bought and livingsocial does nothing to help resolve the issue - they just go along with whatever the vendor arbitrarily decides. Terrible customer service!

Would warn any small business to never deal with Living Social after all the services rendered it has been nearly impossible to receive payment from them. Their "customer service team" has been unhelpful and seems not to be trained to deal with customers.

Awful site
September 20, 2012

Awful site. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this site. I order a "deal" they took my money, and when i went to use the "voucher code" no dice. Nothing. So I contact living social thinking, I'm sure it's a simply error that can be corrected. Nope. Nothing. I got a nice canned email saying, "we'll get back to you on that." A complete and utter waste of time money and effort.

I have been trying to schedule for weeks, without a mere return call from the merchant. Antecipating that I will be off expiring time, I googled on how to get in contact with Living Social for a refund. Now reading this reviews I see I cannot trust this dealer.

I cancelled my order cause I found a lot of bad reviews about the manufacturer. And then I waited 3 days to send my first email ask where my refund was. The customer service said I needed to wait 3-5 days. Ok, so I waited.
After 8 days of the cancellation I sent the second email (no response), and then the third email, finally got the response on the 15th day.
"You were never charged for this deal. You will not see a credit in you account because when you cancelled it the whole purchase was just voided."
I don't understand why their customer service treat people like they are blind and cannot see the bank statement.
Now, I just called my chase bank to dispute the transaction and will never buy from them again.

From the business

LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
