I purchased an in home massage with a registered massage therapist - that's what the ad said. Fine print said that gratuity and tax extra and placed a limit on how far they'd travel. When I went to book the massage on line, I waited over a week to hear from them, then emailed. The gratuity is added on up front ( don't like that but okay), and a registered massage therapist is extra.
After 6 weeks, I am getting some satisfaction from the vendor - but still don't have a massage appt.
HOWEVER, dealing with LIVING SOCIAL was awful! They said I'd had '7 days for a refund if I was unsure'. I wasn't unsure, I just made the mistake of believing their ad. It had taken more than 7 days to find out my website appt had never gone thru. They actually lied about what was in fine print - unless there's another fine print section besides what they label "the fine print"
I'll never deal with them again.
SPAMMERS! STAY AWAY FROM LIVING SOCIAL DEALS!
Living Social Charged my credit card for $758 without my authorization for 2 packages (vouchers) for vacation to Mexico.
Living Social is refusing to give me my money back and just advised me to dispute the charges with my Discover card.
They have never replied to Discover regarding this dispute. This is typical FRAUD.!
Definitely do NOT buy any vacation packages. We recently purchase a trip to Mexico and could not get there due to Hurricane Sandy. La Guardia airport was under water and yet according to the folks in Mexico the livingsocial deal does not include trip insurance!
Initially we were to lose the $500 we spent through the "Living social" supposed deal. Originally it was $300 something, but when I called to book a room they were conveniently all filled up which required us to "Upgrade" for another $200. After all that, the hurricane hit and we were not supposed to get our money back. My husband INSISTED on speaking to a manager and we are now able to reschedule for only certain months coming up AND we have to pay an additional $200 to do so. So our 4 night stay has now turned into $700. Which really is no deal at all. It's actually cheaper and easier to use expedia where you have the flight and the hotel all in one and you have the option to select Trip insurance.
I have also used livingsocial for meal vouchers. You truly do get what you pay for. I believe living social only benefits the company or seller. Never the consumer. It's not worth it. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
I paid $45 for $100 worth of wine from Chevy Chase Wine in DC. The text was: "The experts at this shop will choose the perfect half-dozen bottles for you, which could include a Cabernet from Spain, Chardonnay from California, or Sauvignon from South Africa". It didn't have any of that, what I got was six bottles of assorted flavors from Fox Brook in California, full retail value (not price-shopping), $5.55/bottle, or about $34. The LS customer service person, though prompt, seems to be running out of auto-responses. They did finally offer $20 in Bucks though they refuse to actually address my question about who's in charge, here, LS or the retailer. Their response to that question was that they can't give refunds (which wasn't the question at all). I have, however, been "escalated", whatever that means. Going on-line, I've seen two complaints on the same issue, same product being offered. Not happy. I guess I'll take the $20 and unsubscribe. I didn't really want the $20, I wanted what was promised.
Bought a car wax and wash package and the vendor made and appointment and never showed up. Then i called 10 times and no one ever got back to me. When I called living social all they did was give me a credit which I didn't feel was acceptable given the time I had wasted and the fact that Ive used them for other things and never got a refund on anything else. Not happy. Will not use them again.
What kind of company doesn't give a refund after a devastating hurricane hits - Livingsocial.com! A place that I had bought a deal for had to close due to the hurricane - so I called LivingSocial to get a refund but I was told that I was not eligible for a full refund as I bought the deal more than 24 hours ago. Had a known we'd be hit with an ACT OF GOD then I wouldn't have purchased it. I have never in all my life experienced such poor customer service. Ever.
I've ordered from living social about 15 times and I've never had a problem getting my vouchers or using them... it seems as if the customers are having problems with the vendors and not Living Social... Or they are not following procedures( such as showing up late, going to a different locations expecting to use the voucher) or they're not reading the fine print at the bottom of the voucher before you purchase. My advise is to always look at the location and fine print before purchasing. I will continue using Living Social the are a great company and I'm totally satisfied.
I live in the United States, I received an email offer for a Banksy decal for $25, plus $12.99 delivery. I freakin' love Banksy so I bought it right away!
When I went to order it I noticed that the International shipping was $34.99. International? The vendor was in Australia.
So I wrote a nice email to livingsocial explaining that I do not live in Australia, and that I am not going to use this coupon and to please refund it and, by the way, it not say Australia anywhere on the offer/coupon and why am I getting offers for Australia anyway.
Over the course of several emails I learned that the offer was for Australia, and that since I was outside of the 5 day window for refunds I was not going to get a refund. Also that email contained two customer service phone numbers for my convenience; one for Australian residents and one for New Zealand residents.? So I again asked for an exception since I DON'T LIVE IN AUSTRALIA. The policy was cut and pasted, the Australia glitch was never addressed.
This is terrible customer service, Answer the question, address the problem, help the customer. The former customer.
I have had terrible trouble with their vendors. ('course I USED TO buy a lot of LivingSocial vouchers!) It happened before, but I let it go. This last time, the cleaning service hasn't called me back to schedule my appointment, the voucher's about to expire, and LS said I can't get my money back or a credit! Because I didn't ask for a refund within 7 days of buying the voucher. Um... that's called STEALING.
I am a retailer that has used living social, they paid the first half of the first deal i ran but have failed to pay the second half or any of the second deal i ran with them.
They owe me $3353. 21.
I'm still honoring the deals for customers so there not ripped off like i have been
Deals are ok, however they email too much, it is like borderline spamming. Better experience with groupon
Bought three coupons for Ferrarri's in Madeira. Thought "one coupon per table" meant you couldn't use more than one coupon per check. Find out today it doesn't matter how many checks per table only one couple at the table can use a coupon. So now I am out $60 because there is no way I can use 3 coupons purchased for myself and friends in three weeks. We buy coupons in order to visit new restaurants but this just is too restrictive. It's just better not to purchase these coupons as the restrictions keep getting more strict.
I purchased a voucher to be used to order a Onna Ehrlich purse from the designer website. It has been 6 weeks now and no purse or responses when contacting the designer. Contacted Living Social for help in getting this rectified and all they will do is give me the email and phone numbers for the vendor. THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANTED AT THIS STAGE. I have all that information. I was looking for an advocate to either get me the purse or get me my $179 back. I WILL NEVER USE LIVING SOCIAL AGAIN --- Groupon only for me.
This site evidently does not check out the service providers they use. They mindlessly oversell vouchers exceeding capacity to redeem. When you complain, their response is it's just not our problem. I'd be surprised if this site gives refunds for unusable vouchers under any circumstances.
Living Social is a scam. They sell more vouchers than a merchant can actually fulfill. When the merchant won't provide the service for the deal purchased, you can't get a refund. All you can do is apply the voucher to the full price of a service in the next 5 years. I could pay full price without buying a Living Social deal.
Terrible company with poor customer service skills. I purchased something, they made a mistake and did not apply my $10 credit. I called and they told me that I could get part of my money back after I received the item and mailed it back to them, but I would still have to pay $8 as a return fee. Needles to say, I have to pay for their mistake.
Please do not buy from this company. My friends, family and co-workers no longer will.
I purchased a voucher to take a friend of mine to a shooting range for his birthday. I went to the website of the vendor (Valastro Academy) but there was nothing indicating how to schedule an appointment if you had purchased the deal. After calling the business and finally getting an answer the earliest appointment was months away. When the day arrived to finally go to the range we first had to sit through a "training" session. I put the term in quotes because we were in a store front watching videos for at most twenty minutes the first of which was an advertisement for an italian shotgun! We then had to drive 45 minutes to get to the shooting range and the instructor didn't show up for an hour. Half of the group that was scheduled for the day went in to the range to shoot and then my friend and I ended up waiting another two hours with no communication as to what was going on or any indication that we were even going to get the full time on the range that I had paid for. After another half hour we decided to leave and I figured that I could contact LivingSocial for a refund since the vendor was unable to fulfill their end of the purchase contract. I figured wrong. Since it was past the seven days after I purchased the vouchers I was essentially S. O. L as far as LivingSocial was concerned. Their reputation depends solely on the actions of the merchants they partner with and have to take responsibility to ensure that the customers that shop on their site are getting what they pay for. Apparently all they are concerned about is the money and not the customer and this whole experience has essentially been a big f*! K you from LivingSocial.
We bought what appeared to be a good deal on some tile flooring cleaning from a local Phoenix business. After the purchase when I downloaded the voucher, it said in fine print that it was no good for travertine, or other stone tile floors, which is what I bought it for! When I requested a refund, I have repeatedly been told there is no refund. This is a blatant example of violation of DTPA. I want to do something about it. Anyone out there feel the same about this site?
I like this site, I have had some issues with their food ordering process online, as you need the app to get it to work on a phone. I am tired of apps on my phone, I wish they would get rid of that, and just phinaegle a site to work without that stuff. Products are good and bad sometimes, but they do update them fairly well.
I have been overwhelmed with the amount of coupons out there to get new business for ailing businesses to get new customers through the door. But I am basically SICK of all of them.
About 2 months ago, I bought a session for a hyperbolic oxygen chamber, and they said they had 2 locations. I called them to make an appointment, and the nearest one to me now (when they were advertising the special, it said they had 2 locations) but I didn't realize that according to LS's buried bylaws, if I didn't specify which salon I was going to, they can only give me "deal bucks" even though I paid with a credit card.
UM, wait up here for just a second! Neither salon offers the oxygen chambers anymore, and I would have to drive a 75 mile round trip to go to the chamber. It's not MY effing fault they decided to change around their structure in the last 2 months since I bought the voucher... and I would imagine that something like a big, pressurized oxygen chamber that a person's whole body goes into would be a big piece of equipment to move around. So I doubt that they even had the chambers in the 2 salons when they put out the coupon announcement.
And now, I am forced to spend $39 on some other junk from LS to satisfy my relationship with LS. I'm just waiting for a big lawsuit to come along... and I hope to be at the top of the list. What a scam and I hate them. I'd rather pay full price for something that I know I already trust and enjoy rather than having all of these new experiences. I'm SO done with Groupon, LS, Tippr, and all of their rip offs. I hate them all and have had problems with them all.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
