LawDepot Reviews Summary

The company enjoys a strong reputation for its user-friendly website and comprehensive document offerings, which customers find easy to navigate and understand. Many reviews highlight the affordability and efficiency of the services, with a particular emphasis on the thoroughness of the forms provided. Eyes Wide Open
November 9, 2021

We accessed Law Depot for one purpose, and found solutions for many business and personal documents. When I weigh the cost of involving a lawyer for consultations and agreements, against the monthly cost to access the portfolio of documents online, there is no comparison. I have since recommended Law Depot to other business owners, and I consider the subscription cost to be one of the best investments we made this year. I read many reviews that seem to indicate you wanted the one-time for-free document only, and you have been frustrated with the fact you triggered a monthly subscription. I guess my perspective is different, as nearly every month I find I am going back to the website to research how to craft a documentary solution to a business or personal problem. My lawyer charges $150 an hour for consultations, so its nice to be able to do my own due diligence and save the legal fees for when it really counts. As a small business owner, I am grateful for he quality documentation and hands-on user-friendly format of Law Depot. If I choose to cancel my subscription in the future, perhaps I too will find the cancellation process frustrating, but the site has literally saved my business thousands in legal fees and has provided us with credible documentation, contracts, and even corporate filing documents that make us look very professional. Thank you Law Depot.

Bait and Switch
September 25, 2021

They clearly state that the form you want is FREE. Well, sort of-only AFTER you have filled everything out you MUST give credit card information or you cannot get the form--it's a trial subscription that is technically free, but they hope (my opinion) you will forget to cancel and then get a bill for a month before you realize it. They write on first page, "Create, Edit and Print Your Document in Minutes " and "Once your legal document has been created and customized to fit your needs, it's yours! Save it, print it and share it with anyone you choose."

What they do not say is that you cannot "have it" and it is "not yours" without giving up CC info and opening a trial subscription. I hate bait and switch--I hate this kind of "got ya" promotion and I would not give lawdepot.com a dime becasue of these shenanigans.

Hello Linda,

We are a leading publisher of do-it-yourself legal documents and templates since 2002. Our customers have created over four million contracts and have saved considerable dollars in legal fees.

Our form templates and software are drafted and revised by our in-house legal department. Please note that the documents are generated based on the answers you enter. Ensure you accurately complete all the necessary fields. Once completed, it is a legal document. The answers you select and how you edit the document can potentially affect whether the form is legally enforceable and valid. If you are unsure how to complete the answers or edit the document to fit your fact situation, you should consider contacting a local attorney in your jurisdiction to assist you. Customers are responsible for special requirements in their jurisdiction.

You are still responsible to file or register your documents with the correct facilities should it be required.

I am sorry our forms did not work out for you. We appreciate your feedback and we will continue to work on our site to improve all areas of service.

I am a college student who was working on a project utilizing LawDepot back in January. I had clearly canceled my subscription but was continually billed through this month because I had logged into my account when I had canceled my 7-day free trial which they say is effective immediately. Trying to dispute the charges which totaled nearly $250 over the last 7 months, I called customer service who was unhelpful and unapologetic. The manager refused to give me a refund despite understanding my intent to cancel my subscription. I would not recommend this service to anyone who doesn't like being taken advantage of. It is amazing how little this company cares about those it claims it serves!

I used their site for a school project, I hit end trial and it did not go through I guess. I didn't realize that I was still getting charged $33 a month for something I never used after that (plus an international charge fee, cause why would they tell you that up front) When I reached out, the live chat woman told me no to a refund for the first month, so I called for a manager. She wrote me off completely and told me she couldn't tell what I did or didn't do with the website, which you can see how people access your site, I know the back end of a website ma'am. Then when I said I hit end free trial, she was like we can't see that, you must've done something wrong. Just very accusative, with little help. I am thankful for the one month refund, but I obviously didn't use the site and missed that I had gotten charged. Very annoyed with this site.

My mom was dying of stage IV metastatic breast cancer, and her condition worsened earlier this year. In order to prepare for the worst, I looked to places I could get legal documents so I could protect her and my family, something that no one wants to do but is necessary. I found LawDepot and signed up for a free trial in order to see templates of certain legal documents at the time, and they were all unhelpful as I found better ones for provided by the state.

I got one email confirmation in January that I had a free trial, and subsequently zero communication from LawDepot. They charged me since January 2021 till now, with no notification of an ongoing subscription or even the beginning of the paid one. Even for the month of June, I cannot get a refund although I finally realized that I was being charged for it and canceled - and have not used their services.

When chatting with a representative, they told me that I checked "terms and conditions" which allowed them to charge me without notifying. I was told absolutely no refunds. I don't care if they wrote legal loopholes that I don't remember seeing on my free trial page at all. It's slimy and disgusting, how they prey on people who are desperate and looking for legal advice, even months afterwards. I've worked in law for a while, and I guess this website is no different to the sleaziest attorneys I've worked with.

LawDepot, I hope no one uses your website and gets charged for months following the death of their young mother. You've left a horrible taste in my mouth, and your predatory practices should be known to all.

Horrible experience
April 26, 2021

The goal of the site is to get you to accept an autorenewal for monthly payments in the hope that you forget to cancel it afterward. They say so in their policy and use it as leverage to keep your money. Even if you can prove that you didn't use the service they will never give you a refund. Please note the service is managed by sharks. No regards for their customers, they will try to rip off as many people as possible instead of trying to build customer loyalty through decent service. Be careful to micro-manage your account if you go ahead with this business. They think you just have that to do, very pretentious of them. Horrible experience,

Hello Julien,

I am sorry to hear if you deemed your experience with us a horrible experience.

The Conditions were posted before you selected the monthly subscription which started of as a Trial Free for 1 week.
The site states twice that it is a 1 week Free Trial renews to a monthly fee of $33.00 after the free week. Cancel anytime within the Free week, no obligations.
An email was sent out to you confirming the service you had ordered with the date and time of the renewal to a monthly subscription.
The email also includes the process of cancellation should you not wish to continue with the service to a monthly one.
Since the subscription was not cancelled within the free week reason for the charge on your card.

Unfortunately, no refunds will be processed for a Trial Subscription that has gone to a monthly service.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THEIR FREE TRIAL
I canceled this before the free trial was over. I found the service to be substandard and not very useful.

I subsequently found 2 charges on my bank statement. I had been charged despite canceling. I contacted the company requesting a refund. They have refused, despite the fact that I had not used or even logged in since the day I canceled.

I asked for verification that I had approved the payments and received nothing.

Very disreputable. Very dishonest.
