Kaiser Permanente Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is significantly marred by consistent customer dissatisfaction regarding healthcare services. Many reviews highlight severe delays in accessing care, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of genuine concern from healthcare providers, leading to feelings of neglect among patients. While some customers have had positive experiences with specific doctors and care teams, these instances are overshadowed by widespread complaints about systemic issues, including bureaucratic inefficiencies and poor management of patient needs. The general sentiment indicates a pressing need for improvement in service quality and patient-centered care practices.

Kaiser Permanente has been part of my life for decades. Since 2016 their care SUCKS, Especially their Mental Health. Every Doctor and Nurse I've seen has told me they constantly live in fear that Kaiser is going to get rid of them. One employee told me recently that their current executive leadership said in an all hands meeting that Kaiser doesn't care about quality anymore, if things are 80% that's good enough. I'm having to go outside of Kaiser to get competent Healthcare. All executives currently at KP should be immediately fired.

Don't trust Kaiser counselors - they will stab you in the back. They will twist what you say and destroy your life. So much for reaching out for help.

I'm required to drive three hours to a Kaiser facility to get care. Why does Kaiser offer insurance to a county that providers don't accept? Why does Kaiser keep denying me care? Why did they increase my deductible amount to $9,000? Because they want to take your money but not offer care!

Members of the Southern California branches of Kaiser Permanente who are not seniors can be vaccinated if they have a medical condition. I have mild asthma, I am under sixty-five, and I received my first Covid-19 vaccination shot at a Kaiser facility almost one week ago. Hooray for KPSOCAL!

Sons insurance is through Kaiser Permanente. Son was in a car accident but was not feeling well the next day so went to urgent care. Urgent care advised we might be better served at Kaisers Trauma center at Aurora Hospital. Got to the Kaiser Trauma center in Aurora Hospital and was greeted by a covid patient checking in ahead of us, fever coughing, can't breath, the husband with covid checking in behind us... nothing done to isolate, they were left in the general waiting room. Hack, hack, hack... serenaded us as we waited. Blood on the waiting room floor dried no attempt to clean. Bathroom, vomit in the sink, smeared blood on the floor. No spacing from other patients and no one, not a soul attempting to clean anything! Note we and five other patients waited in the waiting room. I have quarantined for a year and Kaiser sends us into the bowels of HELL! For all this, we were advised nothing they can do for a concussion... yet Kaiser could do nothing at Urgent care... except guarantee our exposure. I will sue the living F out of Kaiser if I contract this now after being so careful! This place was an absolute TOILET! BEWARE!

I took a position in September for the Public Health Institute as a Case Investigator for COVID-19.
My insurance, including Kaiser Permanente Medical coverage, should have activated and allowed me to see doctors by the end of October. Despite my constant urging, dozens of email messages, several phone calls, a visit to a location to provide blood and make an appointment in person, AFTER ALL THIS TIME AND EFFORT... I HAVE YET TO ACTUALLY SEE A DOCTOR!
The doctor assigned to me conducted a phone interview several weeks ago and due to NUMEROUS PRESSING MEDICAL NEEDS, including follow-up to surgical procedures that I was unable to have addressed while suffering under Medi-Cal the last several years, IT WAS AGREED I NEED(ED) AN IN-OFFICE APPOINTMENT IN ORDER TO PROPERLY ADDRESS.
Then, after driving in the pouring rain to make the appointment and to provide the blood ahead of the appointment, after twice going to test for Covid and after taking work off for an afternoon in order to attend the appointment, THE CALLOUS, FLIPPANT DOCTOR CLAIMED THE SHE HAD A "SCHEDULE" CHANGE" AND CHANGED MY APPOINTMENT BACK TO ANOTHER POINTLESS PHONE CALL!
After waiting 40 minutes for that call that never came... well, I left in complete and utter disgust.
And when you call or write or ask or create a grievance, THEY DO NOTHING BUT STALL AND LIE AND WASTE MORE OF YOUR TIME AND NEVER EVEN ATTEMPT TO ADDRESS ANYTHING.
I am now forced to implore my employer to change my insurance as soon as possible TO ANY OTHER OPTION THRU WHICH I MIGHT ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO HAVE MY VERY SERIOUS AND PRESSING MEDICAL NEEDS ADDRESSED!
Kaiser "Permanente" will hopefully be "Temporarily".

This is my first time visit by Dr. Sepideh Mirfakhraei, as a registered nurse in California I've never seen anyone Practitioner/ primary doctor like her, so respectful and welcoming manner, knowledgeable, good listener and so many more, specially during Covid! This doctor deserves many times 5 star reviews, unfortunately I can only place on time review. I believe people are working in this office are so blessed to have this doctor besides them, I wish I was her assistant.

I am only in the second week of January and this is already my worst healthcare ever. I'm a registered nurse & I've lived in 6 US states & 3 different countries. That includes the United Kingdom which provides the dreaded "Socialized Medicine". (Get over it America - it's better than anything you'll ever experience.) Nothing - but nothing - beats the sheer indifference & incompetence of Kaiser.

This insurance is good only till you do not need any services from them and just keep paying the premiums.

The day you get any medical condition and need services, you are screwed.
No medical care whatsoever. Kaiser is here to earn money. No intentions to take care of their members.
Their member services and grievance process is a joke.

You'll die making calls to member services and raising complaints but no actions.
Every time they will have just one answer for you - Go to an emergency. Would you prefer to go to emergency for the same issue over and over and keep paying hefty bills?
Why can't Kaiser do a proper diagnosis and starts a proper treatment plan and do the follow-up appointments?

I have gone through preventive procedures (Colonoscopy and Endoscopy) for stomach and Kaiser doctor messed it up (Kaiser hires mediocre doctors so that they do not have to pay much and can earn more money).
Since then i m bed ridden from a healty person. They made my life hell and now not taking any responsibility for it.
Every day and night is in pain for last 1.5 months. Struggling to get any care from Kaiser. I have to make a thousand calls, emails, and complaints but still struggling. I have to tell them can you do an ultrasound, can you do urine work... to diagnose what mess their GI doctor has done to my health. They are not doing any actions from their end to diagnose the issues and do proper treatment.

The doctor who did the procedures not even responding and not ready to take any responsibility.

This organization need serious improvements.

Rude and Insensitive
November 10, 2020

I have been a part of the Kaiser network since I was a child. As a matter of fact, I was born there and my children were too. Unfortunately, recently, I discovered a Kaiser that I hope no one ever has to experience. Prior to two months ago, I really appreciated the Kaiser network. However, that has drastically changed. A family member was diagnosed with a serious disease that resulted in being hospitalized. I never realized that Kaiser will provide decent care until 21 days and then rush you out because they don't get paid. I didn't realize that Kaiser is a drug dealing business machine who "thrives" on drugging their patients to feel better. Doctors rush through to see as many patients as possible as time is money. 15 minutes in and out. Their case managers maintain the company line of what they can't do, won't do. One of their social workers rushed off the phone. One doctor did not return my call for 5 days even though the system showed she received messages. When she finally called, she said well I saw you called so i am calling but I don't have time see you and you're not even in my area. Even though my family member is her patient. I have so many stories. If you have the option of not choosing this network, don't. They are ok for general wellness care, but anything related to hospital care is extremely poor. If you ever end up on the hospital side or need specialized care, you will quickly discover how uncompassionate, uncaring, and how much they merely are about the Business of Kaiser versus anyone as a patient.

Eye and hip
September 28, 2020

Called several times to Kaiser. Spoke to Aurora and she could not help hung up on me when I explained to her we were frustrated about our services. We have called to utilize our insurance because my husband works in construction and got a follicle or something in his eye! Kaiser did not help us we needed to go to Walmart Dr to check because Kaiser could not help him unless ER! What? Crazy? Why do we pay for ins? Then all your representatives have no clue what they are talking about and hung up on me! Very disappointed!

Today I was at the Kaiser in San Bernardino ca on Date street I had to go in for blood work and urine, the nurse stopped me like they do every time i go in due to covid which is all good and understandable but whats not understandable is the fact that she refused to let me in saying I couldn't come in because I had my two children with me mind you I have no one that can watch them she began to get loud and super rude with me raising her voice and refused to get her supervisor so I asked the other nurse to please get her supervisor! This nurse was extremely unprofessional extremely rude and shouldn't treat anyone like that. The supervisor came out hot and bothered like i disturbed her and begins to tell me that nurse that was horrible to me has been on vacation and didn't know the new rules then walked away! Didnt pull that nurse aside or anything! Where is the training for these people?! I've had Kaiser for years and years i have NEVER EVER had the treatment I got today! When I asked her her name to give to member services she was so cocky and just rude. The nurses name was Rachel wouldnt give a last name and she was absolutely horrible she definitely picked the wrong career. Worst experience I have ever had at Kaiser!

Just not good
August 12, 2020

My employer switched to Kaiser last open enrollment period so I had to as well. Pre pandemic they were ok. Couldn't get in to see a dr but at least video calls were available. Since the pandemic forget it. When I call or my son does, as he's on the plan, we are lost in a sea of prompts and if we get lucky and get an "appointment " the dr who is supposed to call back doesn't. It's awful.

There are many good people in the Kaiser organization. Sadly there is a bad element in the optical sales area. The tech said he was not lying he was just misinforming me. Any company can have a bad employee but it appears he was following the managements direction.
