Their size guide is wrong and then when you need to make a return because their own guide is inaccurate they charge you $80. I understand paying for shipping costs but $80 is absurd, especially when it is their fault I have to return in the first place. Do not order from here. They also have horrible customer service and do not help you or answer you, only robot chats.

I just purchased a MaxMara studio coat two days ago. On their size guide IT38 -Us2, I pay over $1000 to order the size 38. When I got it today, the tag show was US 4. It's too big for me. If I want to return it, I will pay about $200 dollars. And today the price dropped to under 800 dollars and that means there is no duty charge. It was a very bad shopping experience.

I purchased an item from Italist for $389. When I try to submit return they offer $289 refund, exorbitant fees they claim are for customs. No customer service to deal with, only robotic automated answers despite multiple requests to speak with a human. Terrible experience.

Tried to pay for a Loewe bag with serveral different Visa/Mastercards many times but all been rejected. Contacted all my three different credit card issuing banks, all saying that the payment apprived by the bank but actually declined by the MERCHANT ITALIST. Contacted Italist customer care 4 time, NO RESPONSE AT ALL! WORST ONLINE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER! SUPERMARKET'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PAYMENT SYSTEM IS BETTER THAN THEIRS. Cant understand how they still exist in the market!

I am having a horrible experience with my return. I have made it according to all the instructions, tracked that it was delivered a week ago, and have not heard back from them AT ALL. My account on the website is not showing the status of my return (not even that it has been received) and the customer service is not responding to my emails.

Beware that if you return something, it may cost you hundreds of dollars. They charge you custom duties which are substantial but if you have to send something back, they do not refund those charges. So you will have paid several hundred dollars to try something on.
They don't advertise free returns so I think it is understood that you might have to pay some shipping costs to send something back. The size of the penalty is not clear from their website. If they were fair to consumers, they should warn you that with each purchase, you could be out several hundred dollars if you send it back. They charge you customs duties directly but don't return them to you even though you don't have the garment and it is back in its country of origin.
They also do not do exchanges. You have to send the items back, pay the large penalties and then buy something new.
It is a shame because they have reasonable prices and selection. If they were truthful, they would warn people about the cost of the returns. I would never had purchased anything if I had known.

Return fees vary from country to country, but regardless the country are return fees are always under $100. For the US specifically, returns are typically around $60.
As you mentioned, we do not refund any customs duties. Duties are applied to orders with a value of $800 or more. We do mention this fact in our return/refund policy, and it is available on all the product pages.
Stated on our policy, we do mention that these customs fees can be recouped, as is done by a lot our clients.
"Once the return is processed and verified, you will receive a refund for the price of the order, excluding the total of shipping costs, customs duties, and/or courier charges incurred. Please note, customs duties are nonrefundable through italist. You may be able to recover customs duties by contacting the local customs bureau directly."

Returning is a nightmare with this company. I submitted request to return a skirt that is simply too big despite following the size guide posted on their website. Not only am I required to pay the return shipping charges, but I am also required to pay the customs duties for them to import the product back to Italy. This makes absolutely no sense - I've worked at a global international trade firm and there should be no import duties charged to return goods back to the shipment country, especially in the case when the shipment country is also the country of origin! Yes, the product I purchased was made in Italy! The wording they use to justify the return import charges is vague for a reason. They also do not refund the customs duties that you are required to pay directly to them at the time of your purchase to import the product into your own country. This is wrong. If Italist requires that you pay the customs duties directly to them at the time of your purchase, so they (supposedly) can remit them to the customs broker on your behalf, they should also refund you the duties you paid if you choose to return the item! Shady operation.
