I have had repeat problems with Instacart mainly with Customer Service. I really don't blame the drivers. I hope they go out of business because they truly deserve it. I told tjem after 2 deliveries their service was very poor. Received a form letter from an overseas worker(. Cheap labor)
I asked them to close my account permanently due to not receiving what I had ordered. They simply don't care! Fine, I will take my business elsewhere!
Finally, I requested that they permanently delete my account with relative personal data. They stated they would but, did not. They 'locjked' my account which enables me to unlock my account to use again. Are these people plain stupid or do they want to fu*k with you intentionally.
I hate instacart they suck!

These guys' service fees (and other fees) are a JOKE compared to what I can give to the shopper after the rip off. I love getting home delivery but these guys stick 'fees' in every thing they can. I'm disgusted. The moment another service comes around with REASONABLE fees, I will switch. AND I will pay those poor shopper what they deserve.

They refunded the value of the missing merchandise. As a client, I was not made aware of different charges added to delivery, such as service charge and gas surcharge. Deceiving practices like such are typical for a dishonest company. I will not shop ever with Instacart and I strongly recommend against anyone not to order from it.

Home from the hospital, I used a delivery service for the first time. Lousy experience. The website was frustrating. 40 minutes late, I texted my shopper about the delay. He responded that his vehicle broke down, and he was trying to catch a bus to my neighborhood. The cold items were warm. He dropped the stuff on my patio and took off. (Tapping the doorbell would have been nice.) I never got the first time discount I was promised. Never again!

I have used Instacart to order & receive groceries and I have worked as an Instacart shopper. The prices are higher than if you go to the store yourself, pick out all the items, bag them and deliver them to your house. I am confused why anyone would think the price should be the same?

Generally, an order of 35-40 items (delivery distance 5-10 miles) takes me 1-1.25 hours to complete. This doesn't include time driving back to the store. I will typically make $20-25 for an order like this. Most people tip 5-10% of their order total which is not a lot considering how much work is entailed (not to mention wear and tear on your car). Servers typically get 15-20% and they don't spend over an hour focusing on just you.

One other thing I'd like to point out is during the last 2 years we have been hearing about shortages daily. We should all expect that items we want may not be available. The most frustrating thing I encounter as an Instacart shopper is when a customer doesn't respond when you ask about a replacement, but they complain (or give you a bad rating) for not reading their mind.

I personally love being an Instacart shopper because it keeps me active and pays me to do it. There's a steep learning curve when someone first starts shopping, and I could see how that might be the reason for many of these negative reviews. If you have issues reach out to customer service; they have been so helpful to me as both a customer and a shopper.

Nonexistent Customer Service
May 28, 2022

You had better hope your order is perfect, because if it's not you have no recourse. Unable to get any sort of response or confirmation from customer service. Feeling ripped off.

Update: After spending a fair bit of time and effort, I was finally able to get hold of someone and full amount was refunded. An unpleasant roller coaster ride.

The last THREE times I've used Instacart, they've screwed up my orders. I received items I never ordered, did not receive items I HAD ordered, and never got any communication from the shoppers that they had issues. So, if you're okay with your grocery shopping being a veritable 'crapshoot,' you might be okay with Instacart. Today was MY final order with these idiot gypsies. Not worth the aggravation!

Never again
May 22, 2022

I ordered 5 things but only got 3 because they didn't allow enough time to accept replacement n paid 45.00 for 3 items. What a rip off. N the no plastic bag ban in nj makes it where the driver has to leave all items on your steps.

Too much mark up
May 21, 2022

I will cancel my membership. I was charged $9.38 for a pack of chicken tenders by insta but on the meat Dept sticker on the chicken it was $7.11. That is outrageous! I can see. 50 or $1 to add. Also this is not the only item they increase the price on and I pay $99/yr for the service. I have not paid attention so closely but now that I know I have stopped using them. Shopped in store the other day and came home loaded each item into insta as if I were going to order. One pack of chicken was $4 more that the one I purchased. Same weight! The other pack was just over $2 more and they were all 1lb?

From bad to worse
May 21, 2022

I've been using Instacart for over 3 years. But ever since the pandemic demand for their services has sky rocketed. Which seams to mean they are not caring about. Customer service anymore. Do not bother reaching out to them for help. If you get a response it's useless and comes from someone who has no idea how to answer the question. They just automatically blame the shopper. It's not the shoppers fault the web site has gotten to be nearly useless. It's has everything to do with senior management lining their pockets and not putting anything back into the company.

Shady
May 20, 2022

I tried many times without success. Not set up to be transparent leaving customer in the dark about what and why it is not processing. Customer Svc doesn't know either and they give "canned" responses. Comming from web developement myself... this is a SHADY operation to say the least, fitting to some of the other responses here. I deleted what info I could but my email it kept telling me to "try again later". No trust... No use!

First time using Instacart, because Amazon ran out of my item.
Ordered before 3PM. Got someone else's order at 6PM.
They promised the order would arrive by 5:05Pm, but they missed that by almost an hour

The driver called me about the order, but didn't speak English, so she hung up.

I still don't have my order, but I bet she gets to her next destination, realizes she doesn't have the order for that destination, and doubles back to get from here.

Half an hour later, as I told my doorman would happen, the driver came back and switched the orders.
Pretty sure I won't be using Instacart again. Hopefully, I won't have to.

I have been a customer since 2017, and honestly was treated like they didn't even care. I am NEVER using this service again. Looking at the online reviews is eye opening, and they don't even respond here. I had the worst experience with my shopper and couldn't even get a manager to help me. I DID NOT get my order that was over 50$ yet when they refunded me it was only 45$?! So I NEVER get my order and I still pay you?! SCAM SCAM SCAM Not that anyone from the company is going to see this.

When it comes to apartment complexes the instacart workers in the lansing mi area are lazy. They don't take the time to make sure they've delivered the groceries to the correct door, they don't pay any attention to their app they use. I've had issue after issue when they deliver from Kroger. One time the guy used my card to buy someone else's groceries, didn't even deliver any of the groceries that were originally ordered. There's been 3 times, today included that I've ordered groceries and they weren't delivered to my door. Instacart sucks in the lansing area, I won't use it ever again.

Instacart - Poor, Dishonest, Shady Service
May 15, 2022

Instacart employees regularly tell me items in my cart are 'out of stock' when they simply want to limit what they deliver. Instacart also charges 'varying' service fees, and in spite of my repeated phone calls, do not disclose how these fees are calculated or change with every order. Often time the service fee is twice as much or more as the delivery fee. The way fees stack up against the items order, combined with their terrible customer service and shady employees, makes Instacart a waste of time and a burn of. Money.

I gave them a good try. I shopped 5 different stores about 20 times total. Out of that I had one positive experience. Missing items, damaged items, poor quality picks. Once I got a gallon of milk as a replacement for a half gallon. That was bad enough but the expiration date was the very next day. The shoppers just simply do not care. They are just trying to earn a tip with zero effort. Use anyone but instacart!

You guys suck
May 13, 2022

As a grocery employee your employees are horribly rude and can't shop for themselves so unless you want the grocery stores to pay them then tell them they need to shop on their own or go suck it

The company clearly messed up, blamed the shopper for the issue, and did not try to resolve the issue at all.
