As soon as Facebook disabled their email feature, I started getting spam mail from IMVU to my personal email account. The first few messages I disregarded, until I realized that I was receiving messages and friend requests. I have NEVER signed up for an IMVU account (not something I would ever be interested in) so I knew my email address was being fraudulently used.
I contacted IMVU, which was also another load of crap because in order to contact them you have to create an account or create a ticket. I received a prompt reply, much to my surprise. They stated I had to email them from my Facebook email in order to delete the account. Well, bad news Facebook has permanently disabled email access, so I am unable to send an email.
IMVU has a ridiculous customer service policy to only side with the user who has stolen someone's email address to chat with other avatars. They take themselves a little too seriously. I am currently awaiting a response from IMVU to find out how the account should be deleted. I have a feeling they will be unable to resolve the matter because they have horrible policies. Seems like one big scam to me. Stay away!
This site has a history of disabling users after they have spent a lot of money just so they can make the same person spend again, just read all the complaints here and on BBB

Seriously stay away, the moderators only look after their group of friends, all other people who dare to disagree gets disabled. And they never look after developers, the user count decreased from 300k to just 80k over the last few years not without a reason.

Stay Away from this website, I have created an account there and spent a lots of money and one day I have received a message that my account is band for unauthorized use, I have lost 800$ USD, dont trust them
I like the pioneer spirit of this site. They have taken what would be just another place to connect through a social network, and have added a visual appeal. While it is true that they really need to continually advance in regards to 3D development they have certainly managed to pull a swath of people looking for partnerships.
It is almost like a 3D dating site. But if they develop their community of users right then they could achieve a more futuristic facebook feel.
There is definitely caution to be had here since we are adding a new layer of anonymity. Now when you connect with someone their traits, likes, and personal info can be fake, PLUS they can make you feel as though they actually look like the character they pretend to be. This will easily fool the young and inexperienced.
So take caution but have fun with this semi-networking gaming-like site!
IMVU IS NOT A BAD SITE - imvu has come along way it use to be kinda boring but the places a re cooler and u get more things to choose from. My favorite thing out of all the things on imvu like houses and diffrent clothes i love the jukebox its so awesome more ppl need to get that u can listen to w/e u want
