I purchased the iHome iSS50 Smart Monitor for my home automation setup, only to have it become a completely non-functional device after iHome shut down the cloud services and removed the app needed to operate it. The product was sold with features entirely dependent on their cloud infrastructure, yet the company chose to discontinue support, making it impossible to use as intended. Even worse, when I contacted iHome, they acknowledged the shutdown but stated that no compensation would be offered to affected customers. This means the money spent is a total loss, and the device is now just e-waste. Their fallback solution works only for iOS (and with very limited features), leaving Android users with nothing. Extremely disappointed with the lack of accountability. If you're considering buying any iHome smart device, be aware that your purchase is at the mercy of their cloud service staying alive—and history shows they may shut it down anytime. Verdict: Avoid. Choose a brand that commits to maintaining their services or at least compensating customers when they discontinue them.
