IdeaBuyer Reviews Summary

The company exhibits a divided reputation, with some customers praising its supportive approach and ability to help bring ideas to market successfully, highlighting quality service and effective communication. However, a significant number of reviews express serious concerns regarding financial mismanagement, lack of responsiveness, and allegations of deceptive practices, including bankruptcy filings to evade refunds. The contrasting experiences suggest a need for improved customer service and transparency, as well as a more consistent delivery on promises, to foster trust and enhance overall satisfaction among clients.

In 2009, I developed a brace to treat back pain. After working for 4 years to get it to market, I was introduced to the founder of Idea Buyer by my patent attorney. Eric and his team worked with me in 2013 over the course of 7 months to help me get over $3,000,000 in purchase orders for my product. I have now been partners with Idea Buyer for over almost two years and cannot express how happy I have been with the entire experience. They are the largest source of purchase orders for my company by leaps and bounds, driving over 80% of my revenue in 2013 and on track for 90% this year. Results speak for themselves but it doesn't help to share

In February, Idea Buyer helped me negotiate a contract for a $100,000 upfront deposit and a 4% royalty, and a guaranteed payout of $75,000 per year in royalties. I cannot tell you how happy I was, but my wife cried when we were able to deposit the check. Idea Buyer helped me get a win that has changed our lives. For that, I wanted to thank them publicly.

We struggled to grow our business beyond a few local stores and then applied to their fast track program. After a few months, we worked out a deal and they partnered with us. The results were incredible. After a lot of initial work that took about 5 months, they got us in front of five major sporting goods stores.

I'm shocked to see some negative reviews for this site. We've always had a pleasant experience with ideabuyer. We never once had a bad experience with them. I can say that none of those negative things are true and that it's a safe place to do business.

I like how this company is growing everyday which is good because it brings in more exposure to our product unlike other companies who have limited resources and audience. I'm glad we found this place.

I like how it brings everybody in the world into one place where they can share their invention. There are so many patents to look at and 90% are really good. They have made the site simpler and easier to navigate. I really feel safe buying and selling patents here.

My experience with ideabuyer was great. They made it so easy for us to sell our patent with just a click of a button. We have gotten offers that were reasonable and have saved a lot of time. Can't wait to sell my other patent.

The site was good and generated an inquiry for me from a distributor that ended up placing a purchase order of 500 units. However, the site needs to be updated. The messaging system was useful for initial contact but after that, it didn't help guide the process, which I could have used (tips on pricing/etc). All in all, I'd definitely recommend it but it would be nice to see your company make those updates to the site. Thanks

Great company to work with based on my experience of using them to bring my new sporting goods invention to market. They helped me line up a significant purchase order which helped me obtain the funding I needed.

If you are an inventor, contact them first. A friend of mine who sold his patent on the website sent me a newlsetter of theirs when I had a new idea last year. From my research, it seems like the only company out there that practices what it preaches. I ended up getting my patent and prototype from them for 30% less than what I had been quoted. I also listed on the site and received inquiries from three manufacturers. I received a cash downpayment from one with 2% royalty on sales with a guaranteed minimum payout. I recommend them 110%.

Great company to work with. I worked with Davison prior to this and what a relief to work with a solid company. They created a prototype for me for 50% of what Davison quoted and did wonderful product and packaging designs. They also did not feed me any bs and told me that the market has to validate the product which it is currently doing. Saw this site and thought I'd let other inventors know, I give them two thumbs up.

The site is good

The site is good. I've had quite a few inquiries off of it. While I haven't received the offer I've been looking for, it has given me the full confidence that I can cash out at a lower price.

From the business

Idea Buyer is the #1 ranked new product development company in the United States.

Idea Buyer partners with entrepreneurs to help them turn ideas into businesses. The company is based out of Dublin, OH, and was founded by serial entrepreneur Eric Corl in 2007. The company has been recognized three times as one of America's fastest growing privately held companies in the United States by Inc Magazine. Idea Buyer has also received recognition from the likes of Entrepreneur.com, The US Chamber of Commerce, Bloomberg, the White House, and more.

Eric Corl states, "The more we've grown, the more success we've had, the more we've learned from our failures and successes. We've become more and more selective of our partners given the nearly 40 bad ones we've had over 12 years. Our satisfaction rating is over 97% but that 3% really frustrate me because our team works so hard on every project. We would rather not work with you than have any chance that there are issues six months in. Some people...
