Hulu's reputation is marked by a diverse content library and the appeal of timely access to popular TV shows and movies, which many customers appreciate. However, significant concerns have emerged regarding technical performance, including frequent buffering, app freezes, and navigation difficulties, leading to frustration among users. Additionally, issues with customer service, such as unresponsive support and billing discrepancies, have been highlighted. The overall sentiment indicates that while Hulu offers valuable content, persistent operational problems and a growing dissatisfaction with ad frequency may push customers toward alternative streaming services.

Live TV - not good. Nice selection of channels, but too much buffering, often kicking you out back to the fire stick menu. Happens more in early AM and in prime time. Can't get used to it. Can't set reminders, making for constant guide checking to see what's on next. Included DVR irritating to use. Once record is set for a program, it will record every time that episode is played, not just one time. You will have to find a another time for the same program to turn off recording. Program guide displays 5 channels at a time. With the firestick, there is no paging up or down. It only moves up or down one channel at a time, and only shows 1 1/2 hours at a time. If you want to see programming from 8PM - 10PM, you will also need to scroll right to see 10PM, then scroll back left to 8PM, then scroll down 5 times to view the next 5 channels, Obviously, someone does not care about how clunky it all works.
Streaming - excellent. Great selection of shows with no buffering problems.
Data use - big problem here, if you do not have Internet unlimited data plan. First month of service used 95% of my data (my plan has 1280 gb/month). Cox unlimited plan is $149 month. Not gonna happen. If you are in my situation, you can turn off a bunch of data hog options, like automatic updates and sharing your data. I need to unplug my firestick when not at home to save data. Yes, it can chew up data with the tv off unless you unplug the firestick and/or the router. Got lots of help with a google search for saving data on these devices.
Bottom line for me is to junk the live tv and stick to streaming. Get an external antenna and local channels are free. But data problem still does not go away. At least it won't be buffering.
Probably going with cable Tv. Hulu keeps refreshing during a program and it gets annoying. I have Cox giga blast and it still refreshes during a program. Get it figured out because you suck!
Hulu is awful! Over priced and overrated! Always losing connection and too many commercials! Even when you pay extra!
It constantly cuts off and with more commercials than cable that I can't fast forward through. I have to pay they for this service and then they control how I use it.
We wanted to watch a Sunday afternoon Red Bull sponsored skydiving stunt. We were never able to get beyond the trailer teasers. No instructions on buttons or arrows to click. This led us to evaluate our Hulu usage. We discovered it was not a major influence on our viewing habits. Goodbye Hulu Not a good choice for viewing pleasure.
Ads before the show or movie would even be better, though no ads (especially when advertising the fact that paying extra will result in no ads) would be best. Yet, it is known that ads or annoying little pop up info will make it's way in, one way or another. The fact that ads are all throughout every single episode of every single piece of content on the ridiculous, and rather bleek, set up of the app itself. Seems rather stupid. I couldn't tell you a single ad that's shown because it ruins the show that it interrupts, entirely. Not to mention, nearly every time an ad comes up, it freezes and causes issues. Sure, I'm not the most patient but I'd rather live without Hulu than with this ridiculous ad-run excuse for a streaming service.
I had Hulu since the beginning of January and it is horrible I'm always having to call them there are nothing but a lot of problems getting constantly knocked out, nothing but buffering TV always blinking it is a horrible horrible horrible company. They do not believe in quality. I pay only $100 a month and that's with live TV HBO Max and Cinemax and it is not worth it. I'm going back to cable screw you Hulu
I've tried EVERTYTHING to adjust the volume of commercial…just commercials. They are blaring. Did a little research on this subject. It's a deceitful advertising tactic. In which Hulu has found a loophole…2010 a law was passed to prohibit this. I am trialing it. So far, thumbs down.
If you ever consider subscribing to HULU + Live TV... DON'T!
While the service is "adequate", the customer service support is terrible. For the 8th time since subscribing less than 6 months ago, we lost the Live TV function due to our internet provider using a "floating IP address". When the IP address changes ( our service is with T-Mobil) HULU thinks you have moved to a different area. So you have to call customer service and get an "override" of the IP address to continue watching your local channels.
This is where the problem comes in.
A regular HULU agent must get a higher agent to make this simple change. Tonight I waited for 54 minutes while the agent trying to assist me tried to contact her support people. She updated me every 3 minutes for 54 minutes to advise that we were "still waiting" for the change.
After the 54 minute delay I needed a break from listening to music on hold. The agent was going to call me back in 5 minutes... she didn't... so after calling and waiting another 13 minutes to talk with a live person in customer service, I was informed that they weren't allowed to call customers back- I was expected to hold for HOWEVER long it took to make the change!
I will choose another streaming service tomorrow... sad customer service experience.
Today is 4/12/22. If I could give Hulu a -10 I would and give no stars. Hulu is taking our money as there site continues to malfunction. When you call and tell them about the problem they give a month free and tell you to basically suck it up or leave. There app constantly kicks you off of the app why your in the middle of watching a program. It happens several times a day. They claim they have tried to fix the issue. This has been going on since January and I feel they should do more for customers who have still been with them up until this point but all the supervisors tell you is what there not going to do to compensate for the issue. HULU YOU ARE THE WORST! I am presently looking for another streaming company to go with.
Put it back the way it was.
Make it easier to navigate to my DVR.
It is very hart to move cursor across the top menu
I pay for HULU and there is NEVER a Boston Bruins game. VERY VERY VERY FRUSTRATING. I pay extra for these stream services but never the best team in the NHL.
I am paying full service price, yet I am not allowed to skip commercials. Every other service allows you to skip the commercials. Sucky service. Upgrade your service to that of other premium providers.
I payed the 79.00 dollars yearly subscription I accidentally canceled and they told me in order to continue hulu I have to pay another 79.00 dollars and create an new account like really I will not give you another 79.00 dollars when you just charge my card 79.00 dollars. Yall please be careful they will take your money...
Paid for Ad free Hulu only to lose MANY shows we've already been watching. It's no longer worth it to us. We are canceling. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Starz (for Power Universe), BET+, Disney+, ALLBLK, Britbox and HBO Max. We also have Fire Tv and we still pay less than cable! We use YouTube to watch stand up comedy, crime documentaries and their free movies! Hulu has become a nuisance that isn't worth it. Almost all the movies or shows I attempt to watch give me a message that it's not included with my subscription anymore. Now that Netflix is upping their price, I'd rather put the money toward that.
This company is horrible and taking advantage of it's users by jacking up prices but providing a ton of crap for it's users to deal with. It's expensive, there is always an issue, it always just spins and gets stuck, and you can't use tmobile internet without you having to call once a week and spend an hour on the phone to have it reset. It has good shows but it's not worth it.
The smackdown show the new episode airs to late I wish It show air like 8:00am in the morning I think it will help alot
Hulu does not do viewer analysis. Why not, you ask? Why bother is their answer.
Have you ever questioned why, after disliking every reality show title, game title, horror title, etc. (substitute your favorite disliked categories here) that Hulu keeps show you new titles in those categories? No analysis.
Have you ever questioned why Hulu continually re-displays titles you've disliked? They don't care. "Got it?"
If Hulu were a person crawling to my front door begging for shelter, I'd give them a blanket and let them sleep on the porch, but not in the house. You can't trust a liar.
We have had an issue with errors and pausing with Hulu LiveTV during commercials with our Samsung Samsung Q90 Class HDR 4K UHD Smart QLED TV. I reported the problem to Hulu and it actually is worse than before. They don't seem to have a resolution and I have tried the recommendations.
Updating App, etc. This happens on 2 channels constantly TLC and HLN. No problems with any other streaming App just Hulu. So far we haven't had any issues with YouTubeTv!
Video scaling issues, too much bordering... ultimately needing a magnifying glass to watch the video
Answer: Not worth it since they updated their interface into an unusable mess. Customer service is awful, stay far away.
Answer: Happened to me. Stay away from hulu. My systems is high speed and works great with YouTube 4k and Netflix 4K HDR. Hulu obviously is bandwidth limited which might work for customers who watch old movies but their technology is not good for 1080P and modern technology.
Answer: It's hulu yet clearing the cashe every time before starting Hulu is substandard there overloaded
