Deceiving company
July 24, 2023

I have had not but issues with this company and after over a year of struggles I have decided to cancel their services and even when they confirmed it will be canceled, they didn't cancel my account and keep charging me. When I call to bring this up they keep saying their system is down and cannot cancel at this moment.

Bad Customer Service
July 14, 2023

I was HughesNet customer for many years. Never pd my bill last a single time. We received fiber cable and so I cancelled. After six months they deducted $155.19 out of my bank account. I have been trying to get this refunded ever since. Today was like my 5th call and I finally asked for a supervisor. In the Philippines so very hard to understand and I had to ask her to repeat several things because her English was very poor. But she said "we don't reward ppl for cancelling HughesNet service and I would not receive a refund " and hung up on me. I'm livid. Never use them. They are overpriced… poor customer service… and not unlimited data. I had no options but them. SHE HUNG UP ON ME….A Supervisor!

Terrible quality/unprofessional
July 14, 2023

The equipment for me has been pure $#*!. It buffers more than it will play and when it does it's still blurry. I've had a few troubleshoots. Customer service is a JOKE. I was told several different things from different representatives and told several different promises. I was even told " to please trust me and let me make this right" HA! The only person that had information that was even remotely close to useful was a woman named Jennifer, who is the account manager. If you have problems figure out a way to get intouch with her because the rest will feed you bull$#*! and blow smoke up your $#*! to satisfy you. Make sure you question the installation techs about your equipment and placement as well. Otherwise, you'll have a big black square in the middle of your damn wall for no apparent reason.

Service sucks. I'm under contract. I can't wait to it ends. Technician installed my satellite dish behind my neighbors apartment and installed the Wi-Fi tower in the very back bedroom. Wi-Fi stops and starts all during the movie. Does not even deserve one star.Embarrassing.

Horrible! Please avoid this.
July 8, 2023

Beware of this company. They charge money for your breathing and never fix your problem until you have to cancel. Cancellation fee before 39 days of agreement is 400 dollars. Please avoid this frustrating internet no service, problems since day 1, upgrades are not worth it.

Worst internet service ever
July 1, 2023

I had no choice but to get satellite internet. What a complete and utter disappointment I was assured I would be able to stream this is NOT the case I have yet to stream even one program it just keeps exiting the apps stating it can not load after buffering over and over. Hughes makes it completely Hughes is just making me regret needing internet at all.

Absolutely the worst
June 21, 2023

Nothing but buffering from the first day. Hours on the phone to finely get our refund but they only sent us part of what they owed. More time on the phone to finely get it all minus the "fees". Literally hundreds of dollars that we had to fight for. Stay the hell away from this company!

Overall no internet is better than hughesnet.
June 17, 2023

Customer Service:
If you ask to be elevated they make you sit on hold then will tell you no supervisor is available. If I still want to talk with a supervisor leave my number to be ignored and forgotten about.

Reliability:
Very rarely down. If they are down they will not answer the help line. Please stay on the line. Your call is important to us but not important enough for us to answer your call.

Speed:
The 25mbps speeds are a lie. On an average day my speeds hits 600Kbps. The data cap sucks but with speeds in the kilobyte range I never hit it.
With Gen3 I hit it regularly and hughesnet then wants to charge me to reset my data usage.

Value:
Overall no internet is better than hughesnet.

That which pushed me to write about how bad hughesnet can be:
The email lets spam in but will not let me send those same spam to make a complaint.
Sending of the message failed.
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Message has been rejected due to suspected spam content. Please check the message and try again.

Warning RUN don't walk! Horrible service
June 14, 2023

June 2023- DON'T DO IT! HughesNet should be considered scammers!
4 years of the most horrible service I've ever experienced. I don't mind paying for a service I can use and I even expected have a few hiccups now and then BUT HughesNet is a joke. I live alone, no gaming, aI have a laptop that I use MAYBE twice a week to Google something, my cell phone has unlimited data (so I don't need it for that), but I do like to watch movies. Well in 4 years I wasn't able to watch a movie without it buffering every 5 minutes so therefore I was NEVER able to watch an entire movie! In 4 years! NEVER! That's sad. Every time I'd call to cancel over the years I would be threatened with "you'll have to pay an early cancellation fee!" Cancellation fee for what? What service? How about HughesNet credit me for their "contracted services" that they DID NOT PROVIDE! Then when I finally had enough and was no longer under contract I cancelled the unusable service. They said on 4/22 "we will mail you out prepaid postage boxes to return our equipment." Two and a half weeks later no boxes. Called them again on 5/12 and I was told "sorry they didn't mail the boxes. I'll have them mailed out to you on 5/27." In the back of my mind I thought "why 5/27?, that's strange." I received the boxes on 5/30. My son took down the equipment as per detailed instructions given. I packaged up the boxes and brought them to the UPS Store (1 hour away, I live in a rural area) on 6/2. I checked my UPS tracking numbers today and the equipment was received by the company yesterday. So i know that it will most likely take at least 7-10 days to update my account and remove the $718.14 charged to me for their equipment. I felt confident that the nightmare with HughesNet was finally over. Not so fast….I get home an hour later to find a letter in my mailbox from a collection agency! Yep a collection agency! Ironically the date that HughesNet turned me into the collection agency was 5/27! The same day they said they were mailing out the boxes to return the equipment. Coincidence? Not a chance in hell! They were trying to distort money from me even though I was the one that kept calling to make sure boxes were sent to me and that everything was taken care of on my end. My advice to anyone thinking about getting HughesNet service DO NOT DO IT! I did finally reach a customer service representative that seemed to be very helpful and assured me that I would be credited for the equipment and that she would let the collection agency know that it was a mistake. I did call the collection agency myself and let them know what was going on. I will wait 5-7 days to check once again to make sure all of this is taken care of and nothing comes up on my credit report. This is so frustrating. Never again! What an absolute nightmare!

Worst Experience Ever
June 5, 2023

If I could I'd leave negative stars. I live in a Rural area. When researching my internet options as I WFH HughesNet was the only one that kept populating as my only available service option. I chose their 200 mbps plan and the rep guaranteed this would be sufficient for me to be able to work. I consistently got less than 1 mbps DL never had upload and the latency was always 850ms and higher. I troubleshot my equipment to no resolve.

Due to the negative service I sought out better options from my local community and heard nothing but bad with HughesNet so I chose to follow there other recommendations vs hearing how HughesNet can fix it.

The day I called to cancel my service the representative was rude argumentative and not listening to anything I was saying. Ask me for my name 3 times. Ask why I was calling I said to cancel my service, they asked why I explained why, and he proceeded to try and educate me on VPN and why that's the source of my issues even though I repeatedly told him I couldn't connect my VPN due to the poor connection and that hindered me from being able to do my normal job functionalities. I told him troubleshooting VPN is not why I called in which he argued back that it was. I told him to go back to the recording and try that statement again. He proceed to argue with me for 30 minutes before finally canceling my service. I asked for a Supervisor or someone above him (Jesse Grey, he claims is his name) and he said he was in charge I told him I wanted someone else above him and he then stated he never said he was the supervisor and refused to transfer me.

After my frustrations overpowered into seething anger a cuss word slipped and he finally cancelled the service.

I told him I have picture proof of inadequate service across different devices of types and brand.

Why train your people to argue with customers. How disrespectful.

Not Worth It
June 4, 2023

Not worth it. Get Verizon hotspot it offers more value and you can actually use it unlike HughesNet. Also they force you to pay a $400 cancellation fee with no 30 day window because they know their service is bad and a lot of people would cancel in a heartbeat without the $400 cancellation fee.

Bad Service
June 3, 2023

Hughes Net is hands down a rip off. They add extra charges to your bill. Then the representatives lie about your amount due to restore service so they can get paid at least something and you are still left with no service. I HATE THEM AND DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!

PATHETIC INTERNET SERVICE!
June 2, 2023

Please be aware that they promise fast internet, but they lie. They will put you on hold when you call to complain. I have been on hold close to an hour and still do not get help. I got this internet for my daughter to have while she was in college to use for her school work. She never had quality service. She had to go other places with internet. I kept calling and nothing was changed. They make you sign a contract to guarantee their money. I called to cancel the contract and they charged me over 200.00 to get out of a contract for service that my daughter never got. I paid the early contract termination. I asked and clarified with girl that the payment was in full and she verified YES. I LATER GET A BILL FROM THE COLLECTION AGENGY FOR OVER A 100.00. I REFUSE TO PAY THIS! MY DAUGHTER EVEN PACKED THEIR EQUIPMENT UP AND MAILED IT AS REQUESTED! THEY DID MY FATHER THE SAME WAY WHOM IS ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND DONT HAVE EXTRA MONEY. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! THIS IS A SCAM!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
May 25, 2023

I can't understand why this company is not under investigation!
Nothing they advertise is real. Most of the time the internet doesn't work then when it does you go over your hours. Cell phones don't work except to text. You can't break a two yr contract without paying $400. Also they don'ttell you this when you sign up.
They take your money but don't provide the services!

Worst service Ever!
May 12, 2023

TWO YEAR CONTRACT. Speeds not as paid for, service is off when there is a storm system between Florida and Arizona ( this is literally what I was told!). When guests come over for holidays or any weekend night plus Friday, the service buffers awfully and you literally cannot watch anything. It is very embarrassing. Extremely expensive for what you ACTUALLY get. Tech support is of no help at all, they can't make it work any better because of the limitations of the entire Hughes set up. If you talk to the offshore customer service crew, they can't suggest anything but upgrading your plan to get better service. I have read the reviews of the people who got tricked into that, same problems for a lot more money. Please read reviews and save yourself the hassle. Two years is a VERY long time to put up with this lack of quality. Better Business Bureau receives so many complaints they say they only publish 1 out of 20, check that out. Stay Away.

Wretched company
May 3, 2023

Once you enter into a contract, they'll do anything in their power to strong-arm you into not leaving. They will flat out lie to you. I would avoid this company at all cost. I switched over to T-Mobile for $50 a month and have a far better service. Hughesnet was charging me $121 a month for Internet that barely worked.

HughesNet is terrible.
April 17, 2023

I was on the ACP act and I was still getting charged outrageous amounts and while I was paying I couldn't even stream anything bc the connection was so bad. I called to upgrade and still the same thing. I finally had enough so I canceled and now they're giving me the run around refunding me. First it was going back into my account, now it's being mailed. They claim now they don't have my bank info. Considering that's how I was paying them. Ugh. Rude reps as well. I now *******@xfinity Excellent customer service and my internet connection is awesome! I highly recommend them.
