They recorded customer's credit card and renew with a very, very and very expensive price for customer automatically without authorization from customer. This was done during the Covid pandemic period. We don't have staff to check the bank details daily. The renew has 3-4 times priced above your initial order. However when we try to use it, it says your resource is limited which can not support a very small website setup. We had never been able to setup a very basic website and the system always says the resource limit. And ask us the pay more money above the $738.53 they have charged in this year. Be careful when you buy service form this company. A really rubbish business which is originated from Canada.
I signed up for business package and have a simple website but have been hounded by them saying my website is using too much resources. Service was terrible and constantly being told usage is high and I need to upgrade. Cheap rates then hounded yo pay more. Not happy.
Bought their email hosting which was not working. So i have cancelled the subscription same day, but didnt get my refund
If you want to be harassed, constantly upsold, have slow slow slow websites (that are very basic), and be generally abused as a customer - HostPapa is for you!
Just awful. They devoured my previous hosting service and it's been a nightmare since takeover.
Email storage? Only a ridiculously substandard 1GB! This is so they can hit you up for extra yearly fee$ just to bump to 2GB, and then make you reconfigure email clients on all of your devices for the honor, under threat of shutting your email down (Hostpapa engineering apparently can't figure out how to charge you extra money without also making you do their work for them). They also can't figure out how to get their cpanel utility for bringing your email storage under 1GB operational for over a year now, have cancelled my email (when I asked for it to be RESTORED), and charged me for the 2GB service I NEVER GOT.
I have a very simple need for basic email hosting and a single 1 page website - no ecommerce. Lured in with what appeared to be an inexpensive & simple solution soon added up. They love sneaking in extra charges and annual fees which first appeared to be part of their 3 year package, but soon you realise aren't. They are not very transparent with charges and fees. Soon I was paying considerably more and receiving way less than I expected.
I have to manually download back up almost every second day or the back up fails with no more space as the backup they offer at a basic level gets you nowhere and has to be manually deleted when full before it continues the service.
Support personnel have also been somewhat arrogant and rude giving me the impression I am wasting their time when I call with an issue.
I have no intention of renewing with them and even considering moving before my 3 years are up, joining them has been the worst decision I have made.
Do not give this company your credit card. They charged my card for an extra line item to the tune of $650 without my consent, after years of simple domain name renewals at $22.59. And they refuse to refund me the extra charge. I've had to submit a dispute through my credit card. Absolutely shocked by this - no invoice, no receipt, just a wild charge and refusal to refund. DO NOT TRUST!
I've been hosting with Hostpapa for many years without any issues. I have multiple Wordpress websites and recently have upgraded to their managed Wordpress web service. They offer the best customer support if you ever run into any issues. I strongly recommend them.
Since I moved my services to Hostpapa, I was getting nothing but harassment.
"You exceeded your backup quota'
'You exceeded your email quota'
"Your website is too big"
"You need to upgrade for your website to load faster"
I am paying for the biggest plan they have and I have just a normal business website, not e-commerce or something extraordinary.
I have upgraded my backup and now my overall bill comes to hundreds of dollars because there is no transparency from the beginning.
Worst experience ever.
Great first year pricing and you expect to pay more after the first year, but when you get your renewal email it tells you the new price, but not all the extra fees. If you trust the email and don't actually look at the invoice you will get a chock that over $100 extra will be taken out of your account, over the higher price.
Not the cheap option they advertise.
When I first started using them I gave them a 5 star review. That was until May of 2020 when I was a 10 months into my 3 year contract on a "Business" plan (see image).
Like dozens or hundreds of others have reported (when I decided to complain I found over a hundred complaints so far to BBB, Ad Council of Canada, and other review and information sites), they threatened me over a secret metric called "Entry Points". On a site with extremely low traffic, a rogue search decided to aggressively index my site. Their response was to demand that I pay over $400 to upgrade to a high-performance host or they would suspend my account.
I added filtering to block the known robots, and it happened again. This time they locked out my Cpanel and suspended all of my sites and demanded that I upgrade. There is no traffic, it is lucky that I had not moved my main business site over to them yet.
To threaten suspension and/or demand a $400 plan upgrade for exceeding an unpublished limit (in fact an implied unlimited parameter, since the related metrics are either unlimited or unmetered) is unacceptable. Having a salesperson be the point of contact for a technical issue is a conflict of interest at best.
Once the suspension occurs, ONLY the salesperson can remove the suspension. The escalation team works at glacial speed (relative to technology) and only communicates via email.
Hostpapa Offered me a Reseller Account with Data Center based in Los Angeles California, but they opened my account with a Data Center based on TORONTO CA, the customer service it's very poor, they will not help you at all, just the minimal, the offered me a CDN WAF and WHCMS,
It has been a week and they just give me the WHCMS login after days and days of asking for it.
The CDN and WAF they still "working on it" not sure what that means...
In Overall a Poor Experience and the support agents don't follow up, you will get a response from a bunch of different people giving you more or less the same response.
I just asked them about the 30 days money back hopefully they will honor this.

Hostpapa make a scam business fraud and cheat him customers.
Bought three years of hosting up front. Never got access to it. No service from telephone, none from chat. I have been robbed three hundred dollars. That's pure scam.
Answer: I referred then to many clients, their support has been great, but now I need to go back and apologize to everyone.
Answer: Hosting in Canada which is a requirement under some Canadian privacy laws.
Answer: Legit company but extremely aggressive in upselling. They limit their resources and then try to threaten to shut you down if you don't upgrade.
