Very slow as a hosting services, customer service response takes long time. Very expensive prices comparing to other companies.
I had heard that it was a stable, reliable, responsive company...however, since migrating my sites onto Hostgator I have only had issues and am constantly in the dark about changes that Hostgator is making. Nothing is simple and my sites are not online, so I wouldn't say Hostgator is reliable either.
Sadly the new interface in the Portal is a big step back in my opinion. Also, logging in is becoming an issue.
